Grim reapers. Or some like to call it shinigamis- me and my father are the last two. And over the years of the past our numbers dropped from the hundreds tell it was only my grandfather after the 'golden ages' of the witches. The golden ages of witches are when the witches gained power over the grim reapers, humans, and weapons. All used to live in peace under the humans rule. But things with power. Sadly always takes hold of the weak. Witches were in this case for thousands of years. Humans were the middle class. Weapons came under witches who were on top....now where did the shinigamis fall. Well it depends there were two classes. For say me and my father are different classes.. Father would hide among the humans but any grim reaper blessed with the lines of sanzu. Were deemed as the "demon child"
These children were taken at birth . sent to live with caretakers tell they could stand on their own. Once they could stand. They were sent to the dungeons to stay.
Once they turned the age of ten- well they were sentenced to death- there was two ways- one could be their 'owner" could kill them any way they wanted. But there was also public killing. Where they could be stoned to death by angry scared mobs of humans. Or they could be put in a Coliseum to fight for their lives. But the secret is. Even if they managed to survive the monsters some dragons. The witches finished them off- after promise to let them go-
They were dark ages for the grim reapers- but no one knows or remembers them the only reason I know is from a few over the top stories from my childish father. And a book called six trillion years and one night. I found it on a mission it had old reports inside from witches of the time. And the countless murders of our kind. The golden ages is when witches stepped it up. If it wasn't already bad. They turned it into a hunting game. Who ever could kill the most demon children would be the strongest- how ever if killing innocent 10 year old children makes you a worrier then I guess it may be-
"Hey kid!? You alive in that head of yours?
I glanced over to see soul looking worryingly at me. I guess I was spacing out or in my own mind. As I normally am. "Yes soul. I'm here"
"Alright good at first I thought you got lost in there and I was gonna have to come in after you-" he smiled at me before dragging me into the kitchen.
He showed me a few tables of food.
"Did you make all of this?"
"Ah huh. Maka made me cool sense she was to lazy."
Maka yelled at us about how soul should shut up. There is always so much drama in between them I still can't believe the two are not dating. "So-...you cook?"
"Well yeah if it's not strawberries or whip cream."

Soul walked over to me and took my hands leaving close. To whisper in my ear.
