"CARRY ON MY WAYWARD SON, DONTCHA CRY NO MORE!" Wow Jess is so beautiful, I really love her. "JAMES!" I quickly look up to see a car getting ready to slam into us, I stop the car so abruptly that Jessica's body slams through the window shield. My chest collides with the steering wheel making my breathing rough. I try to get out of the car but I'm dazed by what happened. Then Darkness. "Jess?"
"Jessica?..... Where am I?"
The darkness surrounded me, "It all your fault! YOU killed me!"
I feel tears stinging my eyes by hearing her voice in the abyss. "Why couldn't you have looked at the road?!"
"Jessica I'm-I'm so sorry! I-I love you!"
"You need help! You CARVED a joker smile on you!"
"I know! I kno-" I didn't finish it because I fell to my knees and wept.
-Awake-
"Jess..." I open my eyes only to see a dumpster beside me. "You were crying."
"What?" I look over to see a little girl, maybe 6? I don't know.
"You were crying in your sleep. Why? Are you sad?"
"Umm, yeah.... Yeah I am."
She tilts her head like she's curious. "Why you sad?"
"Well.... I lost something.... I know I'll never get it back."
"Like a toy?"
"Ha... Yeah, yeah... I guess."
"I had my teddy until daddy took him from me..."
"Where's your family?"
"Well, daddy told me that I have to stay here forever..."
That's terrible. A father who didn't want to take care of his kid! This girl is so sweet, why?
"You can stay with me? Do you want to?"
She looks up and smiles ear to ear and says, "Yes!"
She doesn't comment on my scabbed over smile, I don't think she's afraid... But when other people look and me they ask a whole bunch of questions.
"What's your name?"
"Jessica! What your name?"
"J-Jessica?"
She nods her head like she a proud and my eyes get glassy. "Oh! My name is James."
"Oh I really like that name!"
I stand up and put the bandana on and swing the bag over my shoulder. "Where are we going?"
"Back home..."
"Okay!"
As were walking on the sidewalk I feel a little hand holding onto my hand. I look down to see Jessica smiling while holding onto my hand.

"Okay, we're here." We are at the hotel that umm... Jess stayed at. "Wow! This is pretty!" She looks at the hotel in awe. We walk in and the girl at the desk says, "Your James Berling?" I nod, "The room is still opened, we haven't done anything to it, but clean it." She looks down at the girl and smiles, "What's your name?"
"Jessica..."
"Have a nice stay here Jessica!"
I got annoyed so I took Jessica's hand and went up to the room. You know it weird... Saying Jessica. I can't believe that's her name. Soon we arrive in front of the door, then I open it.
"Wow! This room is very pretty!"
"That's what I thought when I arrived here too."
I have to call Haley. I don't want to but I don't know how to shop for little girls. Plus she'll freak when she sees my face.... Man I wish I hadn't done it.... I'll just call her tomorrow.
"So..... "
"So..... What?"
"What's on your face?"
"It's... Umm... A uh knife accident."
"Oh okay. My mommy had knife accidents all the time."
"Really? How?"
"She would have big lines down her arm. Then she would hold it to her throat and-"
"Wanna play a game?"
"Okay!...what's the game?"
"Hide-n-seek!"
"Okay! You count, I'll hide!"
"Okay."
I turn to face the wall and count to 30. I hear her tiny footsteps quietly finding a place to hide. Then I hear a 'yes!' And then something rustle around.
"30! Ready or not here I come!"
I try to think of where the footsteps came from. The kitchen! I walk towards the kitchen. "I'm gonna find you!" I open up one cabinet door and 'bam' there she is! "Hahah! You found me!"

"James?"
"Yes?"
"I'm tired." She says rubbing her eyes.
"Okay, you can sleep in the bed and I'll sleep on the couch okay?"
"Okay."
We walk into the bedroom and she plops right on the bed. "Call for me of you need anything." Before I could get out of the door she says, "C-can you tuck me in?" I smile and walk over to her and tuck her in.
"Better?"
"Better."
Then I walk out then to the couch and fall asleep.

"Huh? Wha-? Oh. Jessica? What are you doing up?"
"I-I had a nightmare.... C-can I sleep with you?"
I'm not that good with kids but I don't want to seem Pedophile-ish etheir. "Uh.. Yeah.
She smiles and plops onto the couch with me with the blanket.
"Goodnight Jessica."
"Goodnight James."
