They were all about a year ago, but you still remembered them like they happened yesterday. Growing up blind was extremely hard for you, but you got used to it and eventually learned to take care of yourself during school.
All your life, you were bullied about being different, about being blind. The bullying got worse as you got older, and the only ones who stood up for you were your parents and older sister.
Unfortunately, your sister soon graduated school and the bullying got worse after she left, leaving you to fend for yourself during your high school years.
You were completely tired of it. I mean, who wouldn't be? Though you couldn't bear it anymore, you continued to put a smile on your face. You stayed positive and hoped that one day, everything was going to get well.
And it did.
The tall, black haired male quickly walked to the school's garden after the final class ended. He walked down the path he always took and spotted you sitting underneath one of the trees by yourself, like always.
"(First Name)!" You heard him call to you and looked up to where you heard his voice come from.
"Kenichi," you gave a bright smile as you heard him sit beside you on the grass, "How are you?" You asked.
"I've been good," he answered as he gave a soft smile and turned to you. "I wasn't with you last period, so how was it? Was anyone bullying you?" he asked you in a worried tone.
"It was alright. No-one bullied me, surprisingly," you replied. "But I guess it was because the ones who did were all on an excursion, so yeah," you shrugged.
After starting the third year of high school, you met a really nice guy, Okamura Kenichi. You didn't even know he was in your class before he stood up for you after getting bullied by a few of your classmates.
Ever since meeting him, your life got better bit by bit. He would help you during class, he always stood up for you whenever you were bullied and he hung out with you everyday.
Okamura soon became your closest friend and, for once, you didn't feel so alone after your sister graduated high school.
"I see... I hope they stop once they come back, though. I'm really worried a-about you," Okamura told you, a pink-ish color forming on his cheeks as he said so.
"It's okay, I've been dealing with people like them all my life, I can handle a few rude comments," you smiled.
Okamura only stared at you after you said that. He didn't understand how you can still be smiling, how you can act like everything's fine, even though you've been bullied all your life and it's still continuing.
"(First Name), how can you stay positive after all you've been through? How can you keep smiling and act like everything's fine?" Okamura asked you.
He didn't say that to put you down or anything, of course not. He only asked out of curiosity. I mean, really, how? He's wondered ever since he's met you.
You turned to Okamura, "Well, being positive is a happiness magnet. If you stay that way, good things and good people will be drawn to you. Like you, you're a good person. I'm really glad I met you, Kenichi," you replied with a grin. "Also, my sister once told me, 'stay strong, because things will get better. It might be stormy now, but it can't rain forever'."
"That's true..."
"And you even told me that no matter what life throws at me, I just have to be strong and fight through it, don't I?" You recalled and Okamura nodded. "Anyway~! Enough with this deep stuff, you promised we'd go to the city today!"
You stood up after saying that and held out your hand for Okamura to hold. He returned the smile and took your hand. He was also glad to have met you.
The following morning, you received good news about your eyes. You were extremely overjoyed and even nearly cried after your parents told you. Someone donated their eyes to you. You were really thankful to them.
About a month later, you got the surgery done. The ophthalmologist told you that you would have a stable vision in about two to twelve months time.
You told Okamura about your transplant and couldn't wait to see him. Although, you won't be able to see him until three months later because he went interstate with his family.
As weeks went by, you noticed your vision started to get clearer and clearer. You were so happy about it. But why wouldn't you be? You were finally able to see things you never could after 17 years...

One Sunday night, Okamura told you that he was back in Akita. You told him you couldn't wait to see him with your new eyes, and said to meet at the gymnasium before school started the next day, if he was coming.
The next morning, Okamura walked to school with Himuro Tatsuya. The two of them didn't usually do that, but the taller male told Himuro to meet up with you in his stead.
The two boys soon arrived school and spotted you standing at the side of the front gates.
"Are you sure you want me to do it?" Himuro asked Okamura once more, after the two stopped walking.
Okamura really wasn't sure. But what if you were like the other girls? What if you won't accept him for how he looked like? What if?
"... Yeah...," the basketball captain answered with a nod, but there was obvious uncertainty.

"(First Name)," you hear a voice call and you turned to where you heard it.
Your eyes were wide as your jaw dropped open. This guy was hella good-looking! Was this really the person you've been talking to the whole time?
You didn't know if he was. But there was something in your head that told you he wasn't...

"I know. You see, Kenichi was too shy to come and meet you, so he asked me to," Himuro explained, giving you soft smile afterwards.
You nodded, "I understand. I'll go look for him, then. Thank you for telling me, Himuro-kun," you bowed, smiling before you left to look for Okamura.
You wondered where to look, then remembered the garden you and Okamura always met up at. It's been a while since you've been there. You hurried to the place and saw someone sitting underneath a tree.
You walked over to them and asked, "Um, excuse me, are you Okamura Kenichi?"
"(F-First Name)?" He stuttered as he spoke, "Yes, it-it's me - Kenichi."
"Why didn't you come to the front gates?" You asked as you sat beside him.
"I was too shy to show myself," Okamura said quietly. "I was scared, too. I thought that you may not be my friend and accept me anymore because I wasn't as good-looking as the others guys."
You sighed, "Kenichi, just because you aren't the most, um, good-looking guy, doesn't mean that I won't accept you. I don't really care how you look like. Your outer appearance doesn't determine who you are, it's in here that does," you stated, pointing to your heart. "Besides, what kind f friend would I be if I dude accept you, for you?"
The male smiled, "Thank you, (First Name)."
"I should be the one thanking you, Kenichi. You were the only person who stood by my side when I was still blind, and I'm really grateful for that. Thank you," you grinned.
