The nearby explosion didn't startle me as I ran as fast as I could. A wide, crazed grin was spread across my face and a manic look haunted my eyes. The thick smoke blurred my vision but I knew that the damage it concealed was something to be proud of. My heart was filled with glee and my laughter rang out in the darkness.

Distant sounds of screams filled my ears. A smile remained on my face though tears pooled in my eyes as my dismal thoughts and emotions threatened to drown me.

Another explosion went off, closer than before. I continued to stand, wanting to relish in the moment and feel accomplished by what I had done.
