Happy Reading :)
La familia e tutto
My brothers words rang in my ears as I took a shower. After I got the last of the droplets out of my hair I walked out and into my room.
I changed into a tank top and leggings. I darted into Marcus' room and looked for my favorite jacket of his. I rummaged through his closet and couldn't find it.
"What are you doing in my room?" Marcus barged in angrily, Theo followed him closely behind.
"Where's my jacket?" I questioned.
"You mean my jacket?" He said and shut his closet.
"Well yeah but the one that I like!"
"The one you steal all the time?"
"Yes if you must call it that." I folded my arms. Theo looked on in watchful amusement.
"I gave it to Lacey." He said shrugging his shoulders.
"You gave my jacket to Lacey? I'm going to kill you!" I yelled.
"What is wrong with you Lydia it's a jacket, and she's my girlfriend."
"I want that jacket back by next week Marcus or I will rip it off of her myself." I spit, I was so incredibly jealous I wasn't even trying to hide it. That was my favorite jacket of his, it was huge on me, and the hood covered my head completely so I felt safe and hidden in it.
"We're going to the mall right now I'll buy you a new one," he rolled his eyes, clearly not understanding.
"I don't want a new one I want my jacket." I said and opened Melvin's closet, grabbing a merely acceptable jacket from there.
I walked out and bounded down the stairs. Ready to get out of the house.
Melvin glanced at me, saw his jacket and rolled his eyes but said nothing.
"That's right my jacket," I muttered under my breath, every jacket the men in this house own is mine.
I opened the fridge and took out a pudding cup. I sat on the counter and waited for my brothers to come down. Joseph walked in and snatched my pudding cup before I had a chance.
"Hey!"
"I'm a growing boy," Joseph argued and I sighed and waited for the rest of them to come down.
It was Me, Marcus, Melvin, Joey, and the three of our cousins. We were taking two cars one with four of us, the other with three, at the moment the guys were deciding who was driving who.
"Me and George wanna go see a movie so can you guys drop us off before you go to the mall," Joey interrupted.
"What you're embarrassed to be around family?" Marcus accused, half joking.
"We just want to watch movie," Joe shouted with a mouthful of pudding.
"I'll take them, and then meet you guys at the mall," I suggested.
"Okay," Marcus agreed.
"You're gonna let her take them alone?" Melvin said, addressing me for the first time in a while.
"She'll only be alone for fifteen minutes," Marcus bristled at Melvin's defiant remark.
"Lei guida? Lei è solo una bambina!" She drives, Theo asked, she's just a baby.
"Io non sono una bambina!" I am not a baby, I laughed.
We headed out, George and Joey following close behind me, it really was only a five minute drive from the movies to the mall. I sat in the drivers seat, and wordlessly Melvin slipped into the passengers seat. ~~~~~
*10 minutes later*
"Have fun!" I shouted as I dropped of Joey and George at the movies.
I drove towards the mall, the next fifteen minutes were going to be filled with an awkward silence if we didn't come to a truce.
We hadn't genuinely spoken since before he found out about Damon. And there still was an awkwardness about the whole Lexi situation I didn't know how to address.
"Melvin,"
"What?"
"Why did you come in the car with me, it's a fifteen minute drive," I asked.
"Why did you take my jacket?" He countered.
"Because idiot Marcus did a stupid thing and gave my favorite jacket of his to Lacey,"
"Well he's been doing a lot of that lately, so forgive me if I don't just follow his word completely," It hurt to hear him talk about Marcus like that, how my relationship with Damon affected their relationship.
"Hm," We sat in silence.
"Can you go back to liking me?" I broke the silence sounding like a little kid, but I didn't know how else to talk to him.
"I've never liked you," He smiled slightly and I felt relief flood into my chest.
"Asshole,"
"You're adopted,"
"I hate you,"
"You took my jacket,"
"You split my lip,"
"You're never gonna get over that are you?"
"Not for as long as I live,"
Melvin shook his head as I pulled into the parking lot.
"Can we go back to this?" I said softly, he knew what I meant, back to the brother sister relationship I knew and loved.
"I'm not pissed at you anymore Lydia," He sighed running his hands through his hair, "But I'm not gonna get over it, it's gonna take a while before I can get past it. I'm not gonna stop blaming myself for it all no matter what you say. That's just how it is. But for now we can be cool again, and I'll just have to be more careful over you," When he said that he had a determined look in his eyes, that I don't think I've ever seen on him.
We got out and walked towards the entrance.
"I don't want you to blame yourself," I said quietly.
"I know," He sighed.
*Later*
Once we had gotten to the mall everyone split up, the guys helped our cousins find the kind of clothes they would need for school, they wanted to be up to date on all the American fashion trends.
"How do I look?" Mickey came out of the dressing room with a hot pink bra on his head and began modeling for us.
"Stop!" I giggled.
"What is this eh? The sexy pout?" He puckered his lips and imitated the "sexy" model from the poster. Before I could shove a different shirt at him he tossed the bra off and walked rapidly toward a group of girls and started flirting.
"Oh god," I groaned.
"He's gonna be a hit at the party," Melvin grinned, "Girls can't resist an accent."
We heard a sharp slapping sound and Mickey came back rubbing his face.
"What did you say?" I shrieked.
"Nothing! I gave them my number and told them to send me SMS how you Americans say it,"
"What did you say exactly?"
"I said 'here's my number, sext me!" He looked utterly confused at how that would offend the girls and I couldn't help but burst into laughter.
Melvin fell backwards on the wall behind him and began laughing harder than I was.
Mickey remained confused.
"Melvin you wanna take this one?"
"Yeah I'll tell him," he said once he'd calmed down. I didn't need to stay and hear this so I ventured off looking for Marcus and Theo.
"Theoooo!" I jumped on his back from behind and he laughed.
"Bambino!" He flipped me over and I screeched sprawled on the floor, "What you doing on the floor stupido?"
"Rude," I huffed as he helped me up.
"So you can wear this to the party," Marcus came up and was holding different things up to Theo, "Girls think it's hot when a guy wears all black," He grinned.
"You guys are going to that party tonight? Marcus can I come with you please?" I begged.
"I'm not gonna step on Felix's toes Lydia," He shook his head, "I don't agree but I'm not gonna step on his toes."
Theo looked on, clearly confused why Marcus didn't worship the ground Felix walked on. But he remained silent. It would take weeks before we regained the familiarity of almost siblings with each other, he wouldn't stick his nose in our business. Yet.
"No I've settled things with Felix, if I talk to him will you take me?" I pleaded.
"If he's okay with it I'll take you," he agreed grudgingly, he clearly still had a distrust in me. I hugged him tightly and thanked him.
"You still owe me a jacket!" I yelled as I went off to find an outfit for tonight.
I had to look good tonight, there was a small chance Damon would be there and I had to be prepared.
Hope you liked it :) Next chapter will be a party chapter, those are always fun to write :)
