Luke’s POV

My back hurt from the night before when I crashed backwards into my father’s screen but it was a funny night and I would do it again if I could. I still found it quite disgusting too but I had got over it now but Matthew was still going on about it as we sat at the table to have breakfast together.

“I just couldn’t believe it,” said Matthew as he grabbed a bit of toast and put it into his mouth. I frowned.

“I think we have all heard enough about yesterday,” said our father at the end of the table and I couldn’t help but laugh.

“It was a mistake and it’s all in the past,” said Gwen.

“Not for me. It’s going to be popping into my mind all the time now, yuck,” said Matthew who was clearly messing about.

“That is enough,” said Arthur loudly. Touchy spot I think and Matthew had just got on it.

It fell silent after that while we ate breakfast. Merlin and Adair had already started training and it felt a little boring without them. I think I was getting too use to them being here but I was not going to tell anyone that.

“I think I am going back to my room for a bit,” I said getting up from the table. My father looked up and just nodded at me. My mother smiled as I walked towards the doors but that was when Matthew got to his feet.

“I’ll come with you.” Just what I wanted, my brother continuing to go on about the night before but I had no choice in the matter as my brother followed me out of the room into the corridor and towards our bedroom.  Adair was likely having more fun than we are.

Adair’s POV

“This is stupid,” I said to my father.

“You just need to concentrate, that is all, Adair,” he said to me putting his hand on my shoulder. I looked up at my father and I couldn’t help but smile as he was doing that cheeky smile which always cheered me up.

“I can’t get it though. I’ve being trying this for hours and I still can’t push you of your feet,” I said sadly.

“I find it easier to do when I am angry to be honest,” said my father.

“I don’t get angry though.”

“I didn’t much either. Try again I know you can do this, Adair. You are my son after all,” he smiled to me.

“Ok, I’ll give it another go just for you,” I smiled back.

I closed my eyes and the words just sprang out my mouth making my father shot backwards hitting the ground hard and if it wasn’t for the shield he had put around himself he may have got hurt. I smirked as my father got to his feet.

“See, you do it,” he said.

“I suppose you are right. I just need to practice and then I’ll get it in the end, hopefully,” I laughed.

“Adair,” someone called my name. I turned around to find Matthew and Luke coming towards me. Merlin smiled and put his arm around my shoulder.

“How is training going?” asked Matthew.

“Pretty good now,” said my father.

“That’s great,” Matthew smirked.

“Can Adair have a break? We were going to go for a swim,” said Luke.

“He can. I think he has done enough for now anyway. I see you boys later,” said my father as he gave me a quick hug before he headed towards the castle.

“Come on, Adair lets go,” said Matthew as he pulled me towards the lower town. I wonder where they are taking me. Only one way to find out and that is to go with it.

Matthew’s POV

As we reached the lake I was glad to find Emily and Roy had shown up like I had asked them too. Maybe they were my friends after all. I just hoped they didn’t over react about me being a prince as I still hadn’t told them that part yet.

“Remember we are not princes and Adair is not a sorcerer,” I said to them as we approached them.

“Matthew you are here. We began to worry you wouldn’t show up. I am Emily and this is Roy it’s nice to meet you both,” she smiled.

“I’m Luke,” said Luke shaking Emily’s hand.

“What about you?” asked Emily to Adair.

“Oh me...yeah right I’m Adair,” he said.

Emily smiled at him before they both shook hands. “This lake is brilliant for swimming. Do you remember it Luke?” I asked.

“Of course I do. We went hunting once with dad and we went passed it and dad even showed us it,” said Luke.

“What we waiting for,” said Roy who stripped down to his pants and dived straight into the Lake swimming at an incredible rate. He just seemed to get better and better in my opinion.

“Roy lives to swim,” said Emily to Adair.

“I see why. He is brilliant at it,” said Adair.

“Yeah he is. I am more in to sword fighting but it’s too dangerous for girls,” laughed Emily.

“I don’t think it is,” smiled Adair.

Was something going on with these two? The thought completely left my head as Luke jumped into the water and bombarded me with water from the lake. “You’re going to pay!” I shouted before I jumped in after him fully clothed and chased him through the water. Luke was never going to beat me, he isn’t the best swimmer and clearly is worse then I am.

I reached Luke and dipped him straight under the water which made Roy laugh. “Don’t mess with me, Luke,” I laughed.

“Yeah clearly,” said Luke choking as I brought him back up.

I looked over at Emily and Adair to realise they were just sitting on the edge of the lake with their feet in and talking. “Do you think something has clicked with them?” I asked.

“It seems like it,” said Luke.

“No....it hasn’t so drop it!” said Roy angrily.

Luke and I looked at Roy and frowned. Did Roy like Emily? If he did he needed to tell her fast because Adair was getting in their pretty quickly and even if Roy said there isn’t anything there, it is clear there is something and he is just denying it.

Luke’s POV

I got out of the lake and put a towel around me to keep me warm as it was getting a little windy. I picked up my clothes and went into the forest to change so Emily didn’t see anything she didn’t want too.

I found a good spot in the forest and I begun to change when I heard it. Anyone would think I was crazy but it felt like something was calling to me, to come and get it as it knew who I was. I quickly got changed before I followed the slight whispers in my ear which got louder as I went further into the forest.

I am not sure how far I went but I continued to go until someone touched my shoulder from behind me. “Matthew,” I gasped.

“What are you doing? We got to go now so come on,” he said to me.

“Wait, don’t you hear that,” I said to him.

“Hear what, Luke?” he asked me.

“It does not matter, let’s go,” I said.

I had no idea what it was but I knew I had to come back and find out without anyone else. I knew somewhere deep down inside I had to find who ever or whatever is calling to me and I could not tell anyone about this, including my brother.

Merlin’s POV

“Arthur can we please talk about the knights at the round table now,” I said.

“The knights at the round table, many people are interested in that and I should’ve known you would be too. Well you know a lot of them but you mean the ones you don’t know about.  Merlin you must understand I did it to make sure everyone knew no one is better than any other. Everyone is equal,” said Arthur.

“I know Arthur. I was there when you first introduced it. I am glad you have kept your word and become this great king. I am proud of you,” I said.

“Merlin I owe this all to you. Without you I would have never made it here. It is getting late,” said Arthur getting up and looking out his chamber window.

A knock came at the door. “Come in,” said Arthur.

Gwen and Matthew came into the room. “Oh I am sorry I forgot to say good night,” said Arthur to Matthew.

“Yeah you did but that is not why he is here. Luke is not in the castle and it’s getting late. I am concerned,” said Gwen.

“That is not like Luke. It’s like Matthew but not Luke. Matthew do you know where he is?” asked Arthur.

“No father I don’t.”

“I am sure he is fine,” I said but then I got this strange feeling inside me and a massive power realising inside me. I fell backwards hitting the ground and a vision took over me.

I watched as someone who I couldn’t see take out the sword from the stone. I had not thought about it in some time but it all came flooding back the memories of the sword, Excalibur and who had given it to me to stop Morgana, Freyer.

I may have fallen in love with someone else but Freyer was still in my heart, my thoughts and feelings and I told no one of this not even Adair. It was something I wouldn’t tell anyone and it would stay that way forever.

What I didn’t understand was the sword could only be taken out by someone who is destined to be king.  It was made for Arthur and so I thought it would be him to pull it from the stone and him alone. I had to figure out if this vision had already happened or is going to happen. I have to make sure that sword does not fall into the wrong hands.

“Merlin, come on don’t die on us,” I heard Arthur’s voice. I opened my eyes to find Arthur kneeing beside me with his worried expression on his face.

“I’m going to be fine Arthur,” I said to him.

“You scared me,” said Arthur as he punched my arm before he helped me to my feet.

“Nothing to worry about, I just need some sleep. We better find Luke first though,” I said.

“Oh here you all are. I went to my room to find it empty. Its bed time so I was worrying where Matthew was,” said Luke as he poked his head into the chamber.

We all looked at him frowning. It was clear he was hiding something but we all clearly couldn’t be bothered to ask either. “I’m going to bed,” I said before I left the room. When I made sure no one was following me I began to run towards the staircase. I was going to check on the sword right away hoping Excalibur would still be in its right place.

Luke’s POV

I headed quickly through the trees knowing I had to find whatever was calling to me quickly as it was getting late and people would begin to wonder where I was. That is what happens when you are a prince and it can be annoying sometimes.

I slowed down as I headed down a steep part of the forest and I found in the middle of the trees surrounding it a stone with a sword within it.  I walked over to it slowly noticing how old it must be with weeds covering a lot of the stone. This sword looked incredible. I looked more closely at it before I put my hand upon it and lifted up.

It came free easily and I found it shining brightly in my hand.  This was what had been calling to me, this wonderful sword and I could not tell anyone about it or where I had found it from.  I may not like swords that much but it was clear this sword is for me. This sword belongs to me and that is how it is going to stay.
