Lauren

"Ashley," I start out, an evil grin forming on my face. "I need to talk to you about something."

Ashley turns around halfway to face me and rolls her eyes, angrily muttering something under her breath. Some attitude she's got there. Even if she is my best friend and my closest peer, she sometimes intimidated me with her bad mood.

With all the other students rambling about college, I knew she couldn't hear me. "What?" She shouted.

I examine the area. There were were many students in the area either grabbing a soda from the vending machine or at their lockers. These students look innocent, but really they're just eavesdropping to take part in the action. One of my many pet-peeves of this school. "Come with me." I mumble just loud enough for her to hear it. I drag her down a couple of hallways to a nearby storage closet.

"We're going to miss class, what are you doing?" Ashley angrily whispered. Since when did she even care about class? The last time I checked, she was skipping classes weekly to screw a guy.

The door wasn't heavy enough to block out all of the sounds I knew we were about to make. "I told you, I want to tell you something. Important."

"Alright, fine, but make it quick. I wanna get the new kid before any other slut in the school finds him and takes him to God knows where."

I roll my eyes. Sometimes, I just want her to write down her list of priorities so she could show it to me. This girl is just too much.

"Lindsay. Mitch. Together?! Are you kidding me? He should be with me, not her, but me!" Whining didn't help one bit, and the look on Ashley's face told me that she wanted to kill me.

"You dragged me in here just to whine about Lindsay and Mitch together? If I were you, I would leave them alone. Mitch has his limits. If you annoy or anger him, he will explode, trust me. I've seen him in soccer practice, he's dangerous."

"I know that. But, I'm not going to do this alone, and that's why you're going to help me."

"I like where this is going. Keep on going." Interest sparked in her eyes. One minute she's angry at me and another she's happy I actually exist. Ashley has got to be the most confusing girl I have ever met.

"I went to spy on Mitch yesterday, but he found me." Acting classes really paid off yesterday, haha. "I just played it off and I even told him that I broke up with Colton."

"Did you really break up with him?"

I gave her a glare. "Do you really think I would tell Mitch the truth?"

She gave me one of those looks that told me that she wasn't catching on to what I was saying. "Wait, does that mean you actually broke off with him or were you just lying?"

"I was lying, stupid!" I sigh. How stupid could she be? And I was the blonde one.

"Oh. . ."

"Today, I want you to spy on them right after school. Remember to act casual."

"Oh, alright. Seems easy enough."

I was about to state something until the school bell echoed through the room. "Alright, there's our cue to go to Language. Let's go."

Lindsay

After Social Studies, I headed to my locker to grab my lunch money. Since lunch was outside, everyone was starting to go there already, emptying out the hallways.

Closing my locker, I wipe away my bangs that blocked my vision. At this point, the hallway was completely empty, which was strange since I was the first one out of class.

I decided that it was just dead creepy walking these hallways alone so I picked my pace up to a light jog. My un-breaking gaze at the floor kept me from noticing what was going to happen next. I rounded the corner and , soon enough, I bounced off someone's chest and lost my balance, causing gravity to take over my body.

To my surprise, strong hands grabbed my waist and pulled me back up. "You okay?" It wasn't Lauren. It wasn't Mitch. It was Colton.

"I'm fine." I said coldly. I really wanted it to be Mitch! I rolled my eyes as his blonde bangs was swept to one side.

I was just about to leave until his warm hand rested on my shoulder, releasing butterflies into my stomach. "Stop. Do you really think I would let you go that easily? Saving you from getting hurt also means a favor from you to me." Colton really has to be that guy.

"Fine. What do you want?"

"Give this to Lauren." He hands me a rectangular box wrapped with shiny pink paper. I glanced at the box and then back at him. No way on Earth am I ever going near Lauren, ever! "It's a four-day anniversary present." He's got to be for real? Four-day anniversary present?! And I thought Lauren broke off with him?

He had already turned three-hundred and sixty degrees and then my curiosity got the better of me."I thought you two broke up yesterday?"

Colton just kind of stood there. If I was facing him, I knew his reaction was utter shock. "Excuse me?" He turns around.

"Wait, you don't know about this?"

"What are you talking about? Lauren didn't break up with me yesterday? And I didn't break up with Lauren?"

"But Mitch told me she broke off with you?"

We exchanged confused looks with each other. He suddenly grabs my wrist, cutting of my blood circulation. I didn't know he was that angry. "Come with me," he angrily whispers.

Mitch

Sitting alone during lunch has got to be the most embarrassing thing in the world. I always used to sit with Lauren and the crew, but today she shrugged me off. I thought I had gotten on her good side yesterday, but it doesn't look like it anymore.

I was scrolling down my Instagram feed on my phone until I felt a light tap on my shoulder, I turn around to see Lindsay. She gave me a heart-metling smile and then Colton came out from behind her, which startled me. "Hey Lindsay! Hey Colton. What are you guys up to?"

"Why did you say that?" Colton calmly asks, even though I knew he was steaming on the inside,

My smile slowly disappeared. "W-what do you mean?"

"Don't play dumb with me 'cause it won't. Work." Immediately, I felt the conversation tense up. "You know exactly what I'm talking about. Why did you tell Lindsay that me and Lauren 'broke up' when you know it's not true? Soon, we're going to be on the front page of the school newspaper because of your ugly rumour." He said through gritted teeth.

"Colton, the only reason I told Lindsay was because Lauren told me yesterday. I found her yesterday behind some bushes and she told me that you broke off with her. Then, Lindsay came and I told her about it."

"Wait. so Lauren was the one that lied to you guys? And why was she hiding behind bushes?"

"Look, this isn't my problem. Ask Lauren. She seems to know what she's doing." I say sarcastically. He turns around with cherry-red cheeks and rudely grabs a pink box that was cradled in Lindsay's arms. We both look at each other, processing what had just happened. Then, we both shrugged and went the complete opposite direction.

"Hey Mitch." Surprisingly, my words come out in melody.

"Hey baby girl! Ready to go?"

"Yeah, of course." I smile.

"17 Again or Les Miserables?" I ask him as my eyes search the many DVDs in my cabinet.

"Les Miserables. You gotta love a singing Anne Hathaway." Mitch says with a light chuckle.

Right near the ending of the movie, a bell echoed throughout the house, waking me up from my sleepy state. "I'll get it." Mitch's arms were wrapped around me so tight I could barely breathe. "Mitch, you can let go of me. I'm not a teddy bear." I laugh as he slowly unravels his arms.

Everything that happened next was a blur. I remember not even breathing for a moment. I open the door and see two familiar faces, holding hands. "Mom? Dad?"
