Light. Light wakes me up. I try to move but I can't. I'm tied to a tree. Next to me is Cade. Suddenly all the memories come flooding back.
"Look who's awake," one of the men say. But it's not a man its a boy.
"The name's Aster," he adds. He sends me a cocky grin and I look away in disgust.
Cade stirs until he's fully awake.
"Cade," I say. His head turns in your direction. Then he groans. I look over at him and notice his blood soaked shirt. A bandage is wrapped around his right side.
"Cade," I announce, "what happened?" Cade looks away then back at me. He bites his lip.
"Once you passed out from loss of blood," Cade explains pointing to my cheek, "they tired to stop them, but they shot me instead." Tears blur my vision. I quickly try to make wipe them away.
"Where's Logan?" I question Aster. He shrugs.
"All I know is that we are supposed to wait at this camp till they come back for us," Aster says, "it takes a while to get to the base, so we have to stay here for the time being." I frown.
Cade groans and I look over at him. All I see in his eyes are pain, and his forehead is doted with sweat.
"What's wrong with him?" I ask Aster.
"He's dying."
