Harry was sick.

He wasn't dying. It was simply the common cold (it really wasn't even that bad), but he had taken the liberty of taking the day off, wanting to spend another day with Draco.

The day was as perfect as they could've asked for; they both woke up at 11 o'clock in the morning to find the sun, smiling brightly and shining down across the land, and the clouds lazily sashaying across the wide expanse of endless, too blue sky. Distinctly they could hear birds chirping: breaking into song, but most of what could be heard was their own breathing, and the rustle of grass beneath their feet. A gratifying silence fell around their home, one that enabled them to be able to just enjoy being together.

Harry walked outside, with Draco trailing behind him, to his backyard, which had been remodeled after the war. A water slide and a swing adorned the patches of grass, and a fence outlooked the hills. Harry found the grass near the fence to be the best place for watching stars.

Draco spun around slowly, taking in his surroundings, a tiny smile starting to form on his lips. As Harry watched him, he noticed a smile starting to form on his as well, and realized Draco really had changed.

"Like what you see?" Draco smirked, playful humor in his words.

Harry rolled his eyes and shook his head. "You have something on your cheek," he lied.

Draco's hand went to his face, his brows furrowed (adorably, Harry thought). He felt around his cheek.

Harry grinned, lifting his hand. Draco stopped moving, thinking that Harry would wipe whatever it was away.

Instead, Harry slapped Draco's cheek.

The blonde stood, lips parted, shocked for a second before punching Harry in the arm. "You absolute arse, I thought there was actually something gross on my face!"

"Whoops," Harry mocked.

"You probably should shut up before I throw food in your face," Draco rolled his eyes, drifting over to the small table of food on the grass.

"Is that supposed to be a threat?" Harry laughed, following him.

"Well, yeah, it's supposed to make you shut up," Draco replied, popping a grape into his mouth.

Harry answered by throwing salad in Draco's face. The blonde's mouth snapped open, and before Draco could retaliate, Harry danced out of his reach.

Harry laughed as Draco chased him around the grass. The blonde shook his head with a smirk when Harry turned around to laugh at him.

They continued their game of tag, but eventually Harry slowed down. Draco yelped as Harry stopped abruptly, and the two crashed down together, a crumpled heap on the grass.

"Ow..." Draco whimpered.

"Shut up, you crashed into me!" Harry groaned in pain.

"Well, you were the one who stopped!"

"Yeah, but I didn't think you were gonna headbutt my back!" Harry whined, his hand massaging his lower back.

Draco laughed softly, pushing himself up and dusting himself off. He then offered Harry a hand, to which Harry took graciously.

"Well, that was fun," Draco said.

"Hardly," Harry scoffed.

"I'm hungry."

Harry stared at Draco in disbelief. "You just had breakfast!"

"But it's 1 o'clock now! It's lunchtime!"

Harry shook his head incredulously, but traveled over to the food table to make Draco a sandwich. Draco hopped up on the table, earning him a glare from Harry.

"Don't break the table," Harry warned.

"I won't, dad," [a/n: give it some time and you'll be calling him daddy(;] Draco joked.

Harry rolled his eyes, handing Draco his now completed sandwich. "Anything else?"

"Nope," Draco said contentedly.

Harry sat down on the ground beside the table, playing with the grass in front of him.

"Stop killing plants," Draco said without looking at him. He took a bite out of his sandwich.

Harry pulled out a fistful of grass and chucked it at Draco, delighted to see some of it made it into his sandwich.

"Don't even tell me what to do," Harry grinned.

Draco popped the last of his sandwich into his mouth, hopping off the table again while Harry laughed.

"You eat really fast," Harry said, pushing himself off as well.

Draco didn't respond. Instead, he ran toward the water slide.

As he climbed up the ladder, he shouted at Harry, "When and why the hell did you get a water slide?"

"Ron and Hermione's kids love it," Harry answered. "That's also why the swings are there."

Draco shrugged. When he got to the top, he yelled down, "You know who else loves it?"

"Who?" Harry asked, rolling his eyes fondly.

"Me!"

"I couldn't have guessed that," Harry responded.

But Draco was already halfway down the slide.

When he landed in the pool at the bottom, he popped up out of the water to shake out his damp hair and grin at Harry.

"This is awesome!"

Harry laughed from his place next to the pool. "You have more energy in your pinkie finger than I do in my entire body," he stated.

"Not for long!" Draco pulled Harry's arm, causing the Auror to lose his balance.

Harry yelped, trying to push against the rubber lining of the tiny pool, but Draco didn't let up, and before long, Harry was shaking out his damp hair right next to the blonde.

"You arse!" Harry shouted, but he was laughing, too. "I didn't say I wanted to go in the pool!"

"You didn't have to," Draco said. "I knew it already."

Harry tackled the blonde, putting him in a headlock. "You are insufferable," he said.

"Thanks," joked Draco before ducking out of the headlock and splashing water on the Auror.

Harry gasped and retaliated by splashing more water on Draco. Before long, they were drenched.

"This wasn't supposed to happen," Harry said, shaking his head.

"But it was fun, wasn't it?"

"How is it that you lived in the woods for two years and you still have more fun than me?" Harry wondered out loud.

"Maybe I'm naturally more fun than you."

"You know what'd be fun? We should go dry off and then watch some Muggle movie inside."

Draco shrugged, but obliged, grabbing a towel and following Harry to the couch.

--

"That was," Draco commented, wiping tears off his cheeks while the Titanic credits rolled, "absolutely terrible."

"Shut up, you loved it," Harry laughed.

"No, I didn't," Draco defended. He swiped at his eyes, laughing. "I hate things that make me cry."

By the time the two finished their dinner, it was 7 o'clock. The sun was down and the stars began to creep into their silent places in the sky. They walked outside and lay down on the grass, bodies near each other.

Neither of them knew any constellations, so they made their own, dragging fingers across skies to create birds and ice cream and anything else they could come up with. They laughed and pushed each other around and by the end of the night, each of them felt closer to one another.

There was something electric in the way they talked, moved about, and something unexplainable when they touched each other.

Harry never thought he would be friends with Draco Malfoy, just as Draco never thought he could care about Harry Potter so much.
