Jungkook
Weeks pass by, those weeks filled with staying up late nights studying and typing up research papers for astronomy. Jungkook had felt like he had it by now, being assigned yet another project.
"Damn stars, why do they have to be so cool?"
He mumbled to himself as he packed up, leaving class for that day. He was headed to English class for another two-and-a-half hours.
At least there is Jimin, he remembered.
As he gazed at Jimin from afar, walking in the room, he noticed Hoseok and this kid that doesn't talk to many people,goes by Yoongi, talking to Jimin. Jungkook took his seat, not wanting to interrupt whatever they were conversing about. But he couldn't help but overhear the small conversation. It wasn't anything important, but it just triggered a small thought in Jungkook's mind.
"-Yeah Mr.Kim is kinda sucky- I think he hates me-"
"-Oh, I know he hates me-"
"Well yeah Hoseok, you got up in the middle of the last test and decided you didn't want to take it and threw your test out the window before leaving the class."
He watched as the three laughed together, about something Jungkook knew nothing of. He couldn't help but feel almost left out and distanced. He realized he hadn't talked to Jimin as frequent as he did about a month ago. Not that he did it on purpose, he just didn't notice while he was piled with homework. But now as he watched Jimin laugh with other people, without him, he felt an empty spot inside him that reminded him how much he needed him.
Jungkook had wished it was easy to just tell Jimin he wants to be closer to him and that he's sorry for not texting or calling him. But, all easy tasks like this were hard for Jungkook due to his social anxiety that he let's get the best of him every time. So, instead he just let's it build, not a healthy strategy, but an easy one.
The entire class proceeded while silence made it's barrier between Jungkook and Jimin. It had agitated Jungkook for a good while, as they were supposed to be taking notes. He thought of how Jimin would take out a small pen and doodle something cute for him. Or how he would take out a small container that would spark Jungkook's curiosity of what it was, until he took the bubble wand out and blew bubbles all over the classroom getting everyone else confused. Jungkook had the thought, wishing he could've been doing that instead of sitting in pure stillness. Then he wondered whether Jimin felt the same way.
After the dreadfully long class period, Jungkook's coffee break was filled with thinking. There was so much Jungkook was curious about, he just never had time to sit down and contemplate, about Jimin.
Did he even feel distanced? Did he want to be distanced? I'm probably not as important to him as he is to me...If I just never fell for him in the first place. There's no possibility he would like some awkward first-year like me. I definitely don't matter to him, I don't blame him, there's better people.
Nothing was there to stop the flow of Jungkook's thoughts. He just found himself thinking the worst, that there was a reason Jimin and him became more distant. But he concluded that he had no one to blame but himself, which wasn't wrong. If he hadn't been focused too much on his astronomy, he would have been closer to Jimin. But then he also remembered how he sucks at talking, and how he couldn't approach Jimin right now without the awkward tension being present. So, Jungkook had one hope left that would determine the future between the two:
That Jimin would be the one to reach out before him.
