"If you're not here, I'm just a corpse, so how can I breathe?"

~Hold Me Tight-BTS

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Taehyung, look what I've got here." Dr. Park said, coming into the room waving a envelope .
Taehyung didn't even look up, just sitting in the corner, slumped over. He'd gotten so distant, they didn't even bother with the straightjacket anymore, there was enough restraint on his mind it seemed like, enough despair pressing him down to prevent even the slightest resistance. Deep down, He'd all but given up, and whatever was left of him, was just someone that could remember being happy and free once, of not feeling constantly sick and weak, of the sun on his skin.
It had been a month and a half, he'd been keeping track, as hard as that was with no way to mark each day, with them always keeping those bright white lights on no matter what time of day or night, not seeing the sun, not seeing the sky, not being outside, it was hard to even keep things straight in his mind, to remember something as simple as how long has it been? Only thing he was basing his count off of was when they fed him, which was maybe once a day, and most of the time he didn't want to eat.
The food wasn't worth eating sometimes. As much as he hadn't eaten, most of the time, he wasn't hungry.
It hit him around a week after the first day, Mrs. Park isn't going to do anything. He'd known that, he'd hoped that she wouldn't. But maybe somewhere deep down, he'd had a little flicker of hope that she'd try anyway. But she hadn't.
Maybe she didn't love me as much as I hoped she did.
Dr. Park sat next to Taehyung on the floor, grabbing a handful of his hair and making him look up. "I said look, Taehyung." Dr. Park put the letter toward his face. "Look who it's from, Taehyung, take a good look."
Taehyung absently read the return address, his expression blank. Park Soo-young. "Eomma..." He said out loud by accident.
He wished that gave him a sense of hope, but it didn't, he still felt empty. But over the last month and a half, he'd had his heart torn to pieces. First, they'd found out about the necklace Hana had given him, and they'd taken that away. Then they'd tried to shove those pills down his throat everyday, which he'd eventually learned to just take without a fight, keeping it under his tongue until they left and spitting it out. Then they'd taken Kyung-mi back one day, not permanent, they couldn't legally do that, but that one day, they'd the door open a crack with Taehyung strapped to his bed, and whatever they were doing, all he heard was her screaming.
"Eomma." Dr. Park imitated Taehyung, then laughed, "It's a wonder you can still speak."
If I'd been taking those pills, I probably wouldn't be able to.
Dr. Park ripped open the envelope, unfolding the letter inside, he read it out loud, but Taehyung wasn't listening him make fun at it, just reading it for himself.
This is the fourth and final letter, after this, not a thing can persuade me to think otherwise.
Jimin tried to drown himself. Does that make you happy?
As much as I don't want to say it, he's your son, how could you break his heart like this with a smile? Maybe you hate me, but you're a sick bastard if it makes you feel better to torture people who did nothing to you. What did Taehyung ever do to you? What did Kyung-mi ever do to you?
You and I both know that you're aware that Taehyung isn't mentally ill, but you still insist on pills. I asked the office, you're not even giving him anti-psychotics. Yet, you haven't prescribed anything else. Where on earth are you getting these pills?
I'll get your smug, self serving, evil ass fired. I'm done playing nice with you. As a doctor, you cannot do this, and I will not allow you to do this. It's beyond illegal, and I can't imagine why you would do this.
You cannot hit a patient, not under any circumstances, You had no right to touch my daughter like that, or hurt her like that. How dare you? You're scum, and you know it.
I hope you enjoy hell when you die. But first, I hope you rot in jail.
-Park Soo-young
"...Court date is tomorrow." Dr. Park was saying. "She's filed quite the lawsuit, she'll probably win, everyone will know what it's been about all along..." Dr. Park dropped the letter to the floor. "It'll all come crashing down...Especially if you testify..."
There was a long, uncomfortable silence, and Taehyung could feel his heart pounding in his throat. No. don't. Don't hurt me, please... Even he could take a guess at what Dr. Park might do, it didn't take a lot of imagination.
Especially if I testify. How much could Dr. Park have at stake? What he was doing was obviously illegal, if everyone knew, then, he'd lose his job, probably go to prison for quite a while... He's not going to risk that. I'm a risk.
"It's such a shame you can still speak, Taehyung, such a shame..."
What Dr. Park was saying scared him. How many different ways could there be to silence a person? What else could he possibly do?
Taehyung licked his lips, "I won't talk, I won't say anything, just--"
Dr. Park shook his head, "Now, Taehyung, you expect me to just believe that? You could just as well lie now, and change your mind later, I can't risk that, Taehyung, You only know the surface of what I've done..."
For a second, a smidgen of emotion went over Dr. Park's features, but less then a second later, it was gone without a trace, and he was getting up, leaving the letter on the floor and leaving the room entirely, closing the door behind him.
As soon as he was gone, Taehyung crawled over to the door, grabbing fistfuls of the padded material and helping himself to stand. He hadn't stood in a while, it felt odd, and he couldn't say he was necessarily balanced on his feet at first, but he gave the door a tug anyway, gripping whatever he could of the padded surface, and tugging as hard as he could.
That wasn't going to work, and he knew it wouldn't, it had never worked before. But he was desperate, he had to get out even more so now then he did then. He's going to come back and kill me, he's going to come back and murder me, I have to get out, or tell someone, or...
Taehyung found himself literally clawing at the padded material, ripping off pieces of it, even though whatever stuffing was inside was digging into his skin and somehow irritating him and making his fingers bleed by his cuticles. This isn't going to work, I'm going to die.
He backed away from the door, falling on his backside when he couldn't keep himself balanced, breathing hard, looking down at his bleeding fingers. Why can't someone help? Why can't someone come stop him? Someone has to know, someone has to see what he's doing!
His hands were shaking, he couldn't stop them, He couldn't get out of here, he was going to die, and no one would even know it was Dr. Park's fault.
Taehyung sobbed, almost like he was crying, but not a single tear came out of his eyes, but he sobbed just the same, his body wracked with tears. He pulled his knees toward himself, I give up. This is it, I give up.
~~~

Nobody so much as came in the room until the next day. Not a nurse, not Dr. Park, not anybody. Taehyung was left alone for the rest of the day, with nothing but his thoughts. No one had even come in to help him with his bleeding fingers, so he ended up with blood stained fingers and bedsheets since that was the only thing to wipe his hands on.

It might have been the next day, he wasn't quite sure, but a pair of nurses came into the room, going straight over to Taehyung and lifting him up without much fuss at all considering the weight he'd lost, and carried him out of the room.

It was the first time in a month he'd been outside of the room, and his eyes couldn't help but widen at the different scenery. He was happy and sad all at once to get out of the room, even if it meant something he might not even be able to imagine.

Dr. Park wouldn't just let him tell anyone, he wouldn't allow himself to be thrown in jail for this. He's a selfish bastard, he'll get away with this, there's nothing I can do. How he wasn't going to get away with it, Taehyung hadn't thought of, but who was there to stop him? Dr. Park had free reign.

The nurses carried Taehyung all the way outside, sitting him in fairly nice car with blacked out windows. Not a van, not a police car, just a nice, white colored car with dark windows. There wasn't even bars between the front seat and the back seat.

But the catch was, he found himself sitting next to Dr. Park.

Dr. Park smiled at him, straightening his tie. He was wearing a black suit, looking like he was going to a formal party rather than court. "Good Morning, Taehyung, it'll all end today, either way, and I'm taking you down with me."

Taehyung bit his lip to stop it from quivering. Stop it. You're not going to fear him, you're going to stop. I can't be scared of him, whatever happens, I can't be scared.

He couldn't help but think of a single line in Mrs. Park's letter, the first one, the one that hurt and surprised him the most. Jimin tried to drown himself. He couldn't imagine Jimin doing it, he couldn't picture it, after everything he'd done to keep everyone together, how much he watched everyone else fall apart and he tried so hard to stop that, whether it was Jungkook, or his mother, or me...

But this evil bastard who didn't even deserve to be called his father--broke him, and he couldn't take it anymore. I'm not going to be scared of him. I refuse to be scared of him, not today, not ever again. For Jimin's sake.

The whole ride, Taehyung didn't look at Dr. Park, looking straight ahead at the back of the seat in front of him or out the window as Dr. Park spoke. He didn't much care what he was saying, it didn't matter, he's not enough of a person to pay attention. He didn't want to look at this monster that hurt so many people.

The ride was long, and Taehyung kept finding himself reaching up toward his neck to touch a necklace that wasn't there. Will Mrs. Park win? Can she really do this? His heart swelled at the thought of it, that everything might work out, that he could live with Mrs. Park, with Jimin, even with Kyung-mi. He wanted that, he liked the thought of that. I'll finally have a family, someone who cares, someone who loves me, permanently.

But... What if she doesn't? What if I'm dead long before then? Taehyung found himself smiling, Then I'm happy for every second I got to spend with them, however short it was.

Looking out the window, Taehyung eventually saw a gigantic building, with a wide set of stairs, that seemed to fan out wider then the building. Though the building itself, a big tan building that seemed to have far more curves than angles, was so immense, he'd have to lean his head out the window to see the whole of it.

But for now, he just looked at the bottom of it, taking in the marble work, colors swirled together all along the bottom row of the building, while above that was nice masonry work. The statues, of various things, one that stood out to him being what looked like a blindfolded woman holding a traditional scale. The grand doorways, which looked like a portal to another world their, thick decorated glass shimmering in the sunlight, and people with briefcases walking in and out. This is a court, Taehyung had never been to one before...

He was scared out of his daydreaming by the sound of a car door slamming on the other side of the car, by the time he looked back to the window, Dr. Park was already opening the door on Taehyung's side, and reaching in and grabbing him by the arm.

Dr. Park yanked Taehyung out, and he hit his head on the way out, Taehyung's legs not used to walking or even standing after the long car ride. But it caused Dr. Park no great pause.

Dr. Park pulled Taehyung usually close as he led him to the big elaborate glass doors. Butterflies were etched into the glass as if it was made of many layers, as if there was and actual meter wide butterly along with groupings of flowers trapped between the glass and crystallized. Taehyung was hypnotized by it for a second, but then ended up looking between the doors and Dr. Park as they walked--kind of in a rushed pace--to the doors.

What are you doi--.

"AH!" Taehyung yelled, feeling a sharp prick in his arm.

His heart dropped when he looked, seeing the Doctor sticking a needle into his arm, injecting something into him. And he immediately tried to pull away, which didn't work, Taehyung being far too weak to make any sort of real effort.

"Shh, just a bit to keep you calm in there, huh?" Dr. Park said, "Just 5 or 6 doses. Can't spit out this, can you?" Just before getting to the door, he tossed the hypodermic needle away toward the nearest bush with a flick of his wrist before they entered the building, which he could see from here, was filling with police officers and metal detectors.

So this is how you'll kill me...
