Chapter Nine

**Three Days Later**

"Mr. Whitlock?"

"What," the balding, pudgy Paul Whitlock barked out as he continued to click away on the computer that looked like it seen better days. In the 1990s.

"I need to put my two weeks notice in, I...found another job." As someone's girlfriend.

He froze, his beady eyes snapping up to meet mine. "Two weeks notice?" His voice was disbelieving.

I frowned, shuffling from foot to foot. His little office was hot and stuffy, the comfort zone nonexistent in his presence. "Uh, yes."

Paul barked out a laugh. "You want me to pay you to quit? Consider this your last day Welsh, you're fired. Jimmy told me about you whoring yourself out with some hotshot last month and I've been meaning to get to you about that. Come pick up your last pay check tomorrow."

And he shifted his attention back to his computer. While I stood there shocked. I finally managed to peel myself out of the doorway and back to the dining area, Tonya and Devon too busy pleasing hungry customers to notice me, something I was incredibly relieved about. I rushed to the back and grabbed my phone out of my locker, quickly dialing Liam's number.

He picked up on the first ring.

"Done already baby? I thought you said at 7 today?"

His voice made a lump form in the back of my throat as I tried to hold back the tears.

"Sabrina? Are you alright?" His voice quickly escalated. "Please say something angel."

"M-my boss fired me," I squeaked. "Jimmy, the chef from the night you met me, s-saw, um, us...together-"

"I'll be there in twenty minutes." And he hung up. I threw my phone back in my bag and shut my locker before high tailing it to the restroom to clean myself up. I let the few tears that lingered in my eyes to fall before grabbing a napkin. Once I looked relativity normal I grabbed a pitcher of ice tea and went back to work, avoiding my best friends' eyes.

I told Tonya and Devon the day after yesterday that I planned to quit, and they took me out to eat Mexican food and drink margaritas till we couldn't see straight. Surprisingly they didn't ask why, so I'm assuming they guessed Liam had something to do with it.

"What a lovely bracelet you have on," an elderly woman complimented me as I sat her bowl of potatoe soup in front of her. I blushed but before I could thank her a familiar voice beat me to it.

"Anything for my love," Liam chuckled, his arm wrapping around my shoulder. The old woman beamed.

"Oh to be young and in love..." she sighed wistfully, a soft smile on her face. "You two make a lovely couple. I wish you both the best."

"Thank you ma'am," I giggled half-heartedly as Liam gently pulled me back and lead me to the door that led through the backroom.

"Where's that pig?" Liam demanded, spinning me around until I faced him, his eyes business like.

"Liam it's alright," I frowned, reaching up to cup his cheek. "I just want to go home."

"I just want to talk," he insisted, his strained smile telling me otherwise.

"I...it's not like I didn't deserve it. I should've been doing my job instead of...of...you know," I mumbled, ducking my head.

"Sabrina," Liam growled, "I don't give a damn if that greasy old bat caught us fucking on the counter, nobody treats my woman like that. Now tell me where this bastard's office is or I'll find it myself."

I stifled my gasp as I hesitated, fidgeting with the hem of my dress. "Promise me you won't do anything," I finally grumbled.

"Just talking," he promised.

I finally relented, Liam instructing me to get my things ready to leave and to wait by his car. Instead I grabbed my bag and lingered by the counter, chatting with Bethany as I eyed the closed door of Paul Whitlock's office.

"So is that guy, like, your boyfriend?" Bethany asked slyly, a coy smile on her face. I blushed and nodded while Bethany squealed and clapped her hands. "You lucky girl, that guys hot."

"You should see him without a shirt on," Devon fanned his face. I frowned, confused.

"Devon, you've never seen him shirtless."

"Boo you, whore," Devon pouted. "I have so."

"In his dreams," Tonya pipped in, refilling a coffee mug and sliding it across the counter to a trucker.

Bethany giggled as Devon mopped.

"Ugh, It's going to be boring here without you," Bethany huffed, giving me a playful glare.

"We can still hang out," I shrugged.

"Oooh, lets go swimming. And make you bring that smoking hot specimen with you," Devon sighed dreamily.

"And Paul is such a douchbag for firing you. Isn't that, like, illegal?"

"Very." Devon nodded his head. "But it's pointless. Who would want to work in this dump anyways? Sabrina's better off."

"I hope your man's beating the shit out of him," Tonya grinned. "That pig's called me 'sweet cheeks' too many times to count." I smirked.

"He promised me they were just talking. I'm so not in the mood to pick my boyfriend up from the police station."

"True," Bethany nodded her head understandingly.

We all stopped talking when the door opened, Liam stepping out, not a wrinkle on his suit. He wore a cocky smirk as he strutted towards us.

"Ladies. Devon," Liam nodded his head in greeting at my friends.

"Hi Liam," they giggled, Devon staring at Liam's, his eyes glazed over.

"Ready to go?" I asked hesitantly, biting my lip. Liam frowned, using his thumb to pull my lip from between my teeth.

"If you are baby," Liam murmured. From the corner of my eye I could see the three clowns I call friends pretending to swoon.

"Bye guys," I waved at them, though they barely paid me any attention.

"See ya," Tonya murmured, licking her lips.

"Don't be a stranger," Bethany squeaked, twirling a strand of hair around her finger.

Devon just grunted.

I rolled my eyes, walking out of the diner for the last time. At least as an employee of course.

.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.

"Liam," I whined before he popped another spicy scallop in my mouth.

"We'll talk later, I promise baby girl. I just want you to eat."

I huffed, stabbing a California roll with my chop sticks and leading it into his mouth, pulling back with a giggle when he got close to biting it.

"Sabrina," he growled. "Feed me."

"Magic word," I sang, waving the food in his face.

"Please," he muttered. I smirked, placing it on his tongue. He leaned in to give me a quick kiss before he started chewing.

"Now?" I pouted.

He rolled his eyes. "I told him how I felt about you being fired and how I could make sure the place went into bankruptcy with one simply call. He stammered out an apologize and beg me not to. I laughed obnoxiously and asked him if he knew who I was. He didn't. Told him my last name. Long story short your pay check should be sizable for a little shopping trip with your friends." He shrugged and dug into the tofu soup as I sat there dazed.

The thought of Liam being all business-like and...Mr. Collins made my insides tingle. I image him sitting behind a desk with a nononsense look on his face as he laid out what he wanted and how he wanted it done. No excuses. Such the polar opposite of the man I know. Sweet and caring, cracking jokes left and right. Calling me angel and baby. Just being... My Liam.

God I needed to get him naked. Now.

"Liam can we go home now?" I asked sweetly.
