My eyes widen and before I get a chance to answer him, my mind is bombarded with a billion questions.
What does he want us to be?
Will he think I'm moving too fast if I say we're in a relationship?
Has he gotten over his wife?
How in the hell do I answer his question?!
Paul is silently waiting for an answer. I look up at him and sigh.
"I...I don't k-know, Paul. Are you over—"
Before I can even finish my question, he cringes.
I'll take that as a no.
I sigh again. "Fuck labels."
"What was that?" he asks quietly, looking surprised.
I look up at him and take his hand in mine. Without really thinking twice about it, I blurt out, "if she asks, we'll just say...we're more than friends, but aren't really in a relationship yet. Okay?"
He smiles, and leans in to kiss my cheek. I blush.
"That sounds perfect."
I know, I know, you were all rooting for them to officially be all lovey-dovey in a relationship. I was almost considering it, but it doesn't sound realistic to me, what with Paul's fragile emotional state and all.
BTW: I'm starting to think this'll be the longest book in the series. May reach around 75-100 chapters, oops
