Have you ever sailed oceans vast,
Where things are out of place?
Where dreams and music fill your head,
Then leave without a trace?
Where monsters sit beneath the waves,
adorned in shining scales,
And above the waves the sun is shining,
Through the driving Hail.
Where serpents ruthlessly attack,
Passing Sailors boats,
Swallowing the great ships whole,
down their slimey throats,
Where sailors cry out in desperation,
reaching above the waves,
With clawed hands and hooked nails,
As they are sent to their graves,
Fish swim past in shining coats,
gathering in groups,
Seagulls wheel overhead,
And into the sea they swoop,
Cackling like Sea hags,
And diving for their prey,
And here i sit in my boat,
Every hour of every day.
Watching all the sea birds,
The fish, and dreaming,
of drowning sailors, ships and boats,
Of monsters with scales gleaming.
And yet i know there is no such thing,
As a serpent or a hag,
And so I only draw them,
Until my body dies and sags.
