Aqua

"Wha?" You murmur, drowsily rubbing at your eyelids. A small yawn escapes your lips as you look up into aqua eyes, or should you say aqua colored eye. But then the technical part of your brain realized that would have made the male in front of you sound like a Cyclops; which he was most definitely not. You couldn't see much of him beneath the black cloak he wore, but you assumed that he was nearly your age. He held a large book in his hand, and you wondered for a second "I'm telling you to leave while you can. It's late, and you don't want to get caught out at night" He tilted his head slightly as if trying to get a better view of you.

An intelligent "huh?" escaped your lips. That nap turned out to be the draining variety where you wake up more exhausted than when you originally fell asleep. Maybe sleeping so much was throwing your internal system off or something like that. There was no rational reason for someone to spend more than half of their day asleep was there? It seems like all your energy had gone towards sleeping nowadays "Still sleeping? I do hope that it's worth it in the end. You're quite an anomaly Miss. (Name)" The boy comments partially to you, partially to himself. Your mouth opens for a second, looking like you were about to make some sort of sound, but it shuts close rather quickly, opening again in a yawn. How does he know my name?"I can't believe that I'm here babysitting..." You don't reply, or pay much attention to his words; you're drifting in-and-out of consciousness again. He picks you up from your position against the tree, moving your body so that you were in his arms in bridal position. "Quite troublesome aren't you." He muses, more to himself than to you. For a second you just sit there, head pressed to his chest securely. Something bothers you about it, more than the fact that you are being carried by a stranger while you're practically comatose and that said stranger appeared in a black coat in the middle of the night.

Out of the corner of your eye you catch sight of a flash of black and gold, and you manage to snap out of your daze long enough, you wriggle in his grasp, the sudden movement making his one eye widen as your shaky hand points towards the very thing which had destroyed your home in less than a day. No... Wha- what is that thing doing here?

"You're scared of a simple heartless?" Heartless? Is that what those little bugs are called? You've a long way to go." Even though his tone seemed nearly mocking in nature you still felt your heart beat rapidly in your chest, those things had managed to take away everything, every one... "It won't do anything." He stated. After witnessing all the damage it had done before you weren't inclined to believe him, eyes staying glued to the spot where that thing was. The bug seemed nearly tame at the moment, merely tilting its head curiously at you in the same way that the boy had done earlier. You still refuse to look at it, instead focusing on the face of your savior to keep from panicking. Only one of the aqua blue eyes is present, it's the left one, the right one being shielded by long strands of steely blue hair. The back of his hair isn't quite long as the front, making you wonder if he just prefers to have his eye covered or his hair that style... He's not the tallest male you've ever seen and from what you can see he has a pretty lean frame. The book which he had been holding earlier is floating alongside the two of you, oddly enough. There isn't even enough time for you to question him on his hair, or his floating book, or even the shadowy bug that overrun your planet. A yawn escapes your lips, before you close your eyes and doze off, not the first time today either.

Cyan

You woke up to the odd sound of an instrument you didn't recognize playing. "Phew! Thought you were dead!" The lax voice came from the male besides you... Is that a mullet? You blinked at the mullet-boy. You never saw many people with that hairstyle anymore, you'd always thought that it had died sometime in the eighties or something like that. "Well don't stay out in the open here, it's dangerous" he chided lightly even though he was sitting right besides you, in an equal amount of danger. You blinked at him a few times, slow, lazy blinks that showed just how out of it you really were. You don't think that you saw him around here before... He looks about my age though- and I'm pretty sure I'd recognize someone with a mullet... "Geez..." He said sighing slightly

"Can you keep playing?" You rubbed your eyelids, still beyond tired, but the sound of the instrument playing was rather pleasant to listen to, even if you didn't know what it was.

He looked down from his instrument back to yours, cyan eyes wide "Wha-"

"The instrument... Could you please keep playing it?" You smiled softly at the blond. He felt surprised (as surprised as a nobody could be) that you actually wanted him to keep playing... But... It was in a good way he thought... You pulled yourself up slightly against the tree. The boy's focus turned back to his instrument and the first notes began to sound out. Maybe you were only acting like this because you thought it were a dream... Maybe it was just the loneliness finally taking a hold of you and you craved some form of companionship... You dozed off peacefully with his strumming lulling you to sleep. For some reason you knew that your sleeping hours wouldn't be haunted by any flashbacks or strange dreams.

~~~~~~~~
"Oh! It's getting dark out!" The pleasant strumming ceased and your eyes fluttered open once more, your glazed eyes drifting in and out of consciousness. The boy saw this and he sent his instrument away.
"Get on. You don't look that heavy..." Oh at least he hoped. He wasn't a muscleman like Lexaeus, and he definitely didn't want to go dropping you. Who else would appreciate his music then? You pulled yourself onto his back with the strength of a mighty koala baby, and clung onto him instinctively. He felt himself feeling a bit warm inside, listening to the slow rhythm of your heart, it was like your heart was giving warmth to the place where his should've been... Also, the way you clung to him so quickly to him regardless if he was a stranger, well no one around him ever really did that to him- hell they didn't even like to treat him very well. They loved to mock him, and just treat him badly in general. It wasn't really his fault that he didn't like to fight, all he really wanted to do was play his sitar all day, but everyone just called him annoying and told him to stop. You may have been the first person to actually encourage him to play it... Which may be why he was going the distance to make sure you got back safely, after all he was rather lazy... But then again he knew well that the dark was never a safe place, perhaps better than others might.
Emerald
"It's not safe to be out here alone, especially when its late at night, got it memorized?" The redhead taps a gloved hand to his temple, while you can only tilt your head in confusion. Who the heck besides a burglar or something wears a cloak like THAT? It's beyond suspicious.
"Is as safe as talking to a stranger?" You shoot back, feeling cranky and irritated after that nap. Who the hell did this guy think he was to tell you it wasn't safe. You weren't a child and you didn't need this.
"Touche." He chuckled and took a step closer to you "So what're you doing out here anyways?"
"Maybe the same thing as you. Maybe I just want a moment to myself?" The last part sounded more like he asked himself the question, not really you.
"You're asking me?" Considering you didn't talk to that many people here you were having quite a back-up supply of sass present. And you weren't sure why but there was something about this guy that was just asking for you to sass him... Maybe it was his I'm-too-cool-to-care attitude... He definitely had that vibe around him. You stared into his emerald eyes with your own owlish eyes. He was the one who broke the silence."Ch. You wouldn't understand even if I told you." He only shook his head, making you blink a few times in response.
"Try me."
"As much as I'd like to- you're not ready yet."
Your eye twitched in annoyance. The very first time you open yourself up to someone in this damn academy, to a stranger no less, and he keeps treating you like you were some kid who wants to play dress up in mommy's closet! Then again you don't really remember seeing him around... You're pretty sure you would remember someone like him, with red hair like that, and his bright green emerald eyes as well. Would it really be possible to miss someone who looked like that? Another silence settled while you tried to figure out whether or not he would've been in one of your classes throughout the day.
"1-12, pick a number." the boy said to you.
"For what?"
"The next unlucky fool." There was a smirk on his face.
"Hmm... Eight." It wasn't one of the most normal questions you'd ever answered but it was probably because of that overwhelming sense that you were surrounded by idiots... For whatever reason you could tell that this guy wasn't a dumb jock, even though he seemed to carry himself with the 'swagger' of one, not even close... There was just something in those emerald green eyes that prevented you from even thinking that he was; a catlike slyness to them as they watched your every move. At least that was the explanation you would give yourself later when you questioned your sanity for talking with a stranger like you did.
The boy blinked a few times as he tilted his head at you. His chest vibrated slightly, looking like he was nearly ready to explode with laughter. No sound escaped his lips oddly enough, so he couldn't really be laughing, could he?
"Trust me, I'm not unlucky." So did the numbers represent different people? You wondered And if he's eight who's everyone else?? He extended his legs and you moved to stand as well, but your numb and sleeping legs could not support you. Fortunately the boy caught you before your face introduced itself to the ground. You yawned, as you were there, he gave a small sight. "See I caught Sleeping Beauty..." You quickly lost consciousness there, eyelids heavy, strange that you forgot about your fatigue so easily while talking to him earlier...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~*****~~~~~~~~~~~~*****~~~~~~~~~~~~~*****~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

You slowly rose from your slumber to be greeted with the pale grayish blue walls of your dormitory room. Light filtered in through the gap between the dark blue curtains of the room, directly into your eyes. You shielded your eyes as a yawn escaped your lips and as a result teardrops watered in your eyes. Wasn't I outside? You wondered as you looked around the bare walls of the dormitory. If not for you lying in the bed one might think that the dorm was still uninhabited. What happened yesterday?? I don't remember lying down in bed... Let's see... I slept through class as usual, chased that girl who wanted to be my 'friend' away... What did I do after that? You put both your arms behind your head and turned your body so you were staring up at the ceiling. Right, I went to the gardens, and I fell asleep beneath that dumbapple tree. When I woke up for a bit, wasn't there someone there?? Oh! There was that guy! He wasn't really from around here and he was in a black cloak... But I saw him when I was at the dumbapple tree, so did he carry me back here?? I-I didn't tell him my dorm number though. You shook your head.

You were pretty out of it while you were there anyways... I probably just dreamed the whole thing up out of loneliness or something. You let out a soft sigh to yourself. The bed gave a loud groan while you sat up. If there were anyone around to see they would've found something almost childishly innocent in the way you rubbed at your eyes, or the way you stretched your sleepy arms as if you were trying to reach the sky. You were grateful that you didn't have a dormmate so that they didn't have to see that. You reached to your right where your iPod laid innocently on the wooden nightstand. You were surprised to see that it was only 6:46. You usually woke up around 7:00 since your first class started at 8:00. You shut the alarm off so it wouldn't go off in fourteen minutes; there was no point to it anyways since you didn't feel like lying down for fourteen more minutes. You'd probably just sleep in class like you usually did.

Fortunately the school was wise enough to have bathrooms built into each of the dorm rooms. So to get ready each morning you didn't have to travel all that far. I'm just glad there aren't community bathrooms and community bathroom stalls. You thought before sliding out of your bed. You stretched your arms out before doing the same thing with the rest of your body. All of your limbs had fallen asleep as well, not surprising when you thought about how long you were probably asleep in the first place. I slept in class, then in the gardens, and then till this morning... Wow. That's a whole lot of sleeping, is sleeping so much a sign of clinical depression or something? You wondered while you made your way over to the bathroom. It wouldn't be that strange if you were depressed, you did just watch your entire world get destroyed after all. It wouldn't be too strange if someone just happened to become depressed after watching their entire planet get destroyed. I shouldn't even think about this... Thinking about it just brought you down more, and for once the morning didn't seem all that bad. Is it because I met that boy?? After all he did help me out, even if he didn't really know me... You wouldn't admit it to anyone here and maybe not even to that boy but you appreciated that he took the time to carry you back here to your room... There was no way that you had actually made it all the way back here by yourself, especially since you may have only been conscious for a grand total of an hour yesterday.

You opened the door to the ensuite bathroom to be greeted by the pale blue walls of the bathroom. The floors were tiled and there were two mats, one right outside the shower and the other besides the sink. The bathrooms were designed to function, not for comfort really. A shower, a toilet, a sink. a mirror, and a closet for all the supplies- that's all it had. The supplies consisted of the soaps that you might find in hotels, though a little less on the fancy side since they were all labeled with 'fresh clean scent'. For so many people who had lost all their material possessions however the fresh clean soaps and shampoos were a blessing from above. Personally you did have enough money from your parents (or as they called it here, munny) that you could easily go into town and buy some of the luxury soaps that you'd groan accustomed to from your childhood to this point.

People went to town when they wanted to spend time with their friends or meet up with others from the different schools, or just to get things. You weren't quite sure why they called it a town though. Everyone just called it like Traveler's town or something like that... There was more than enough housing for the refugees that came into town, some of which would relocate to other worlds and some of which who stayed in the town itself. Not to mention it had concert venues, as well as different stadiums for various sports from around the realms. There were two buildings that functioned in the same way that malls did, not to mention smaller shops scattered all around. The only reason you knew so much about this place in the first place is because your 'friends' always tried to get you to come along with them into town. You were interested in the town itself at least, just not going there with the people who told you about it. It gathered people from all across the realms without anywhere else to go and it gave them a place where they could stay and start new lives. Not to mention there were little bits of culture from each of the realms everywhere, from the clothes to the sports to the weird potions and stuff they didn't really understand, or so you heard... Either way you made a mental note to go there sometime when you finally stopped sleeping your days away. Yet since you were always sleeping and didn't feel an amazingly powerful need to go into town, then you stuck with 'fresh clean' for now.

You stripped out of your clothes and went into the shower stall. You took the 'fresh clean' into the shower with you, and then adjusted the water temperature to the appropriate heat. You hopped out of the shower quickly and wrapped a towel around yourself. Oh I forgot my clothes again... It wasn't anything new. On a weekly basis you probably did this three days out of the four. Since you didn't have a roommate you didn't have to worry about the consequences of forgetting your clothes in the room at least. Perks of being alone and friendless you supposed.

You still wrapped a towel around yourself before exiting the bathroom. You made your way to the two door closet which housed all the clothes (as in all the uniforms) that the school supplied for you. Anything else you had disappeared along with Earth and you still hadn't gone into town to get anything else. It wasn't like you had an incredible demand for clothes that you could wear outside of class... Plus for a uniform it wasn't too bad, a simple white button up with the option of a blazer or cardigan over it, and then a skirt or shorts that was colored according to your year. Of course there was the matter of the necktie they would prefer students to wear, but they weren't too strict on the uniform policy. You threw on your clothes quickly, running into the closet door while slipping the shirt on.

"OW!" The word escapes your lips before you can stop it, cradling the 'funny' bone in your elbow. There was nothing funny about the pain it caused you in your opinion, so you weren't quite sure who in their right mind decided to name it a funny bone.

"Are you ok?" A sleepy voice asked

Wait...

Who the.....

HELL?!

AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!

*THUD*

"MARLENE!"

Two boys stood by the doorway, hair unkempt, eyes darting around the room before coming into contact with you. You took another deep breath

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You clutched your towel over your body, button up half hanging on a single arm. Your cheeks burned a fiery red as the twos' jaws dropped

"OUT! OUT! OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!"

The boys left as soon as a shoe entered your free hand, their cheeks hot as volcanoes.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The four of you gathered around a table that was in your room. Across from you was the only other female and besides you was a male with snowy white hair, besides the other girl there was also another boy with almost maroon colored hair. The one who had spoken earlier got the honor of being your roommate, an ashy haired brunette who didn't know that you were so blissfully unaware that you'd be getting a new roommate. Well that means I can't forget my clothes when I go into the shower now. You thought bitterly, while your arms were crossed tightly across your chest. "What. You couldn't come with a warning sign?" You sighed. Part of you knew that you were at blame for the entire thing, and the other part still wished that she could've made her presence known earlier. You weren't stupid enough to think that you weren't at fault for the entire thing, since it had become a sloppy habit of yours to strut out of the shower without clothes and you knew it.
"I-I came yesterday night but I didn't want to wake you up. I thought it'd be better to wait till the morning." The brunette played with the ashy strands of brown hair, the bangs which hover just over her eyes and make her look younger than anyone who would be in your grade.
"Well that was one heck of an introduction." You let out a slight sigh before running your hands through your hair, noting in annoyance that it hadn't completely dried off yet. The cool feeling of the wet hair would help keep you alert though, and you figured that it would be better than sleeping some more than you already had. Seriously there had to be something beyond wrong with you if you could sleep through that much of a day.
"Sorry..." The girl murmured softly. Her eyes didn't meet yours, instead they were focused upon the edge of her nightgown, tightly crumpled in her small hands.
You sighed "No, I should've been more careful." I can't keep taking things out on people...
Somehow your reluctant words of apologies served as all the motivation that the girl needed to find her voice and speak up. "I'm Marlene!"
"(Name)" A silence settled. Not that the boys had opened their mouths to speak at all through this whole thing. They still couldn't look at your without remembering the way you had looked earlier...
Marlene gave a look towards the boy besides her and quickly elbowed his side. "OI!" He shot her a quick glare "I'm Denzel." He rubbed at his side.
"Hope..." The one besides you said. If you could even call him besides you, he had moved farther over and his cheeks were still dusted pink whenever he looked at you.
"Well now that that's done..." You didn't bother to finish that statement. You were already out of your chair and heading for the door of your room. You had almost made it out when...
"Hey, where are you going?" Denzel called out, just as your hand was reaching for the doorknob.
"Breakfast." Or more so you were planning on going to the rooftops to sit until you heard the first bell, and then the second bell that would indicate you were late before heading to your first period class.
A soft and hesitant voice reached your ears "Could we come with?" You sighed as you turned to face the white haired boy. The hesitancy you heard other came from the fear of rejection that you could so subtly detect.
"I suppose." If I don't accept Ansem would probably ask that I show them around anyways. You thought. The three looked towards each other and all shared smiles and nods.
"Great! Just give us a second to get ready!" Marlene pushed the two boys out of the room.
"Thanks!" Denzel called out while he left, and Hope just offered a small smile at you. You let out a soft sigh to yourself. Will they just be more additions to the fake-friends club? You turned so that your back rested against the wall of your room, besides the door that you'd almost made it out of. You crossed your arms over your chest, and you might even look like the picture perfect example of patience except for the bored look in your eyes while they followed Marlene who was trying to get ready. She ran to her closet and quickly grabbed the standard uniform, a white button up with a blue skirt (blue for Freshmen). You played a random game on your iPod, which for the standards of the technology available wasn't the best, yet not the worst either... It actually wasn't that bad having it with you. You still had all the photographs of old friends who actually meant something to you, photographs of places where you made memories, people and places that the history books here could write into the realm of Earth- a planet taken by the darkness. You couldn't play the game anymore as the nostalgia overwhelmed you. What about the seven billion people who didn't make it? Are they still alive somewhere? Have they turned into those bugs? Or maybe, maybe they've succumbed to nonexistence... Maybe they're just gone and memories are all that are left...
The darkness spread, swallowing the light and many people's hearts. It covered everything, and the world disappeared. But small fragments of light survived, in the hearts of children.
So many are still waiting for their new beginning...
(Author's note) : Yes I did just introduce five BOC in the second chapter! Nothey'renotinlovewithyoualreadydon'tberidiculous. The romance won't come instantly, sure there'll be chemistry and connections, but they'll differ by person. Sorry/NotSorry. Also in regards to 'You', there will be an explanation for why she's acting the way she is, but it'll come slowly. She's not going to always act like this! Anywho! I hope that you enjoy the second chapter as much as I enjoyed writing it! Happy fourth of July everyone!~ Hope you get to see some awesome fireworks!
