Lauren's POV

-And that's the thing about miracles. They don't last forever. And maybe they're not meant to last forever. But in that moment, as I felt indescribably infinite, I realized that my miracle, lasted as long as it needed too. And that she was more than a lifetime could offer.

--

Narrator's POV

Two months after Mr. Jauregui had announced the marriage between the two girls, Camila and Lauren had been working with the lawyer to build the case against Cara. It wasn't easy. But after much work and commitment, Carmen had managed to file a report against the blonde. When the report was processed, Cara's lawyer had notified her and she herself encouraged to carry out the case. According to her, she didn't want to make the same mistakes as her father and mask the claims made against him, but rather face them. She always liked a good fight and she knew Lauren would give her one to remember. Or at least, that's what she claimed.

"Well according to the paperwork I got back today, you're scheduled to appear in court in less than two weeks." Carmen notified Lauren.

"Two weeks?!" Lauren almost yelled, "Why so soon?"

"It's the only time Cara can make an appearance-"

"So all of a sudden the law caters to her needs?"

"Look, I'm as furious as you are but I don't make the rules here."

"She's probably paid the fuckers off by now hasn't she?"

"Lauren, that's not what happened. Cara is the face of a multimillionaire company. If you were in her shoes, the court would have to work around your schedule too."

"Ugh, fuck Wall Street."

"..."

"This sucks."

Carmen crouched down at eye level with her and placed a supportive hand on her knee, "I know this is all happening a much faster than you thought, but I know you're going to be okay. You know why?"

"Why?"

"Because, we've worked too damn hard to lose now."

She was right. And Lauren knew she was right. But she couldn't stop worrying. All she needed to do now was get over the fear of finally admitting the truth, not only to the jury but to herself. But that didn't even seem possible.

That night, she couldn't sleep. She was tossing and turning all night as she thought about it. Standing in front of everyone. Facing her biggest fear. But most of all, finally admitting that what happened, actually happened.

In a frustrated sweat, she sat up and then threw her leg over to hover over her girlfriend.

"Camz."

Camila's nose twitched.

"Camz." She whispered again.

Camila stirred awake. She rubbed her eyes and in a deep husky voice said, "Lauren?"

"I can't sleep."

She yawned, "Is that why you're on top of me?"

"No."

"Well if you want to get in my pants, you're gonna have to wait until tomor-"

"-I don't want to have sex with you right now."

The brown eyed girl was taken a back, "Wait really?"

"I mean, I kinda do now that you mention it but that's besides the point. There's just too much going on in my head." Lauren reveled, releasing an exhausted sigh.

"Like what?"

"Everything."

Camila half smiled at her girlfriend before she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. She then caressed her cheek, "I know you're scared. But I promise that everything is going to work out."

"And what if it doesn't?"

"It will."

"How can you be so sure?"

"Because, we can't be anything but sure."

Lauren's brows furrowed at the younger girl's words before she laid her head on her chest and cuddled up to her.

"I guess...I guess you're right."

Camila ran her fingers through her hair, "Just take it easy babe. And get some sleep. It's been a tough week."

"Can we just...stay like this?"

Camila smiled at that, "Of course."

--

As the day approached, the two girls attended school regularly. Lauren was still the queen bee and Camila was the same nerd everyone knew her to be. Everything seemed normal, until Dinah started acting strange.

On that warm morning, Lauren had driven Camila to school. Since she had done it before, she didn't mind the rumors that revolved around the campus since they all involved her either fucking a brain or fucking a brain. There was no in between. The whole school was convinced that Lauren had done the impossible since Camila had been the last person they'd expect to let herself go. But then again, they thought Lauren Jauregui could do anything.

But Camila did mind. A lot. It seemed like every girl hated her. Some guys were jealous sure, but it seemed like every female in the entire school wanted to wipe rip her head off.

"Hey Bows.." A girl whispered behind the brunette.

Camila turned around in her seat, "Yeah?"

"How long are you going to be Jauregui's play thing? The rest of us want a turn."

"I'm not her play thing." Camila bluntly replied.

"That's not what everyone else is saying."

She let out a frustrated groan.

"Why don't you save those for later when Lauren calls you."

"Maybe I will." I quipped.

The girl was taken a back from her response but then a wicked grin formed on her lips, "You probably will you whore."

Camila cringed at the word before she brought herself back together to reply, "A woman's sexual life does not define her. Whether I'm actually doing things with Lauren or not. It doesn't matter. None of your delusions do and they sure as hell don't define me."

"Whatever. I just hope you know how lucky you are."

"And why is that?"

"Because Lauren has enough decency to fuck a nerd like you when she could be fucking me."

Camila's blood was boiling at this point.

"Getting a little mad there Bows?"

"..."

"Come on spit it out."

"What if...what if she actually liked me?" Camila asked, immediately regretting it.

Jade laughed, "Do you honestly think that she could? If anything you'd be an infatuation just like every other girl she's been with. Lauren would never be with you. There's no way she'd date a loser like you. She's Lauren Jauregui. And because of it, sometimes I wonder if anybody's good enough for her..."

"What's so wrong if she did though?"

She looked petrified, "Why are you asking me this?"

"Because I want to know."

"Well, if you really want me to break it to you Bows, you're a nobody. And Lauren...she's a somebody. If that ever happened, it'd just be wrong."

"Why?"

"Because that's just how things are."

Camila's fist clenched her pen in her hand before she turned back in her seat and focused on the assignment in front of her.

After finishing it, she looked over to her friend Dinah who had been gazing at Zendaya from across the room. Camila had to do a double take to process it. And Dinah was definitely drooling all over the new transfer.

At first, Camila tried not to think much of it, but as the day rolled on, it started to become a common reoccurrence.

At lunch, the brunette couldn't help but ask, "Dinah, what are you staring at?"

The Polynesian quickly snapped out of the trance, "Huh?"

"What were you looking at?"

"That girl over there." She pointed.

"Do you know her?" Darren asked.

"No."

"Then?" Ally asked.

"Then what?" Dinah asked unsure what they were implying.

"Why have you been heart eyes over her all day?" Camila asked.

"Cause she's hot. Why else?"

Normani almost spit out her food.

"You think she's hot?" Darren asked wiggling his eyebrows.

"Yeah, what of it?" Dinah mumbled.

"That's pretty gay D."

"Why do you gotta put labels on things? I just think she's hot."

"Okay but you've been into guys since forever." Ally chimed in, "Or atleast that's what we thought..."

"I do like guys. I'm dating Siope."

"Would you date Zendaya if you were single?" Hailey asked.

"I dunno maybe."

"Yeah, you're gay. Lesbihonest." Darren said

"Am not."

"Then bi?" Normani asked.

"No."

"Then you're straight?" Ally asked.

"I'm nothing! Just shut up and eat your lunches before the preps come and take them."

Darren and Camila both smiled at each other before the preps made their cue. One by one, they took each of the brains food. But the second Vero reached for Dinah's cake, the Polynesian grabbed her wrist to stop her.

"No."

"Excuse me?" Vero asked.

"You heard me."

Vero smirked before she pulled her hand away from her, "I don't think you remember how this works. We take what we want, and you shut up."

"I'm tired of staying quiet. I'm fucking hungry and I'm not in the mood to be punked by any of you."

"Well, what are you gonna do about it?"

Dinah stood up and hovered over the black haired girl with a face no one would want to mess with. She wasn't having it today. And maybe not ever again.

Vero's eyes widened at the tall girl before she felt Lauren's hand on her shoulder. She turned to look at the green eyed girl with a plea for help.

"Just back off." Lauren whispered, "We don't want to cause a scene."

Vero rolled her eyes before she angrily stormed back to their table where Drew graciously offered to share his stolen lunch.

Lauren sighed in relief before she said, "I'm glad she listened, or else things could've got ugly."

Everyone turned to look at the Polynesian. Still shocked that she spoke up against the prep.

"What?" Dinah asked, "I'm tired of getting my food taken away alright?"

"You mean your cake?" Normani teased.

"Yeah, the last time she stole it, I went into a deep depression for months."

"It was only until after school." Camila corrected, "My mom baked you a whole new cake because of it."

"They were the worst few hours of my life."

Lauren chuckled at the story, but a part of her hated herself for letting her friends to this to her, to them, to everyone. It wasn't right.

"I'm sorry..." The green eyed girl suddenly said.

"It's cool bro. I know it isn't your fault. It's your dumb friends. But thanks for stepping in anyway."

"No." Lauren said, "I'm sorry for letting them to this to you. To all of you. This is the last time you guys ever have to worry about losing your food."

The brains couldn't believe what Lauren had just said. It was too good to be true.

"A-Are you serious?" Ally couldn't help but ask.

"Yes." Lauren assured her.

"Talk about major character development." Darren murmured.

The green eyed girl rolled her eyes before she walked over to Camila and took something out of her pocket. It was wrapped in a napkin.

Camila furrowed her brows at the object before Lauren handed it to her.

"What's this?"

"Dessert." Lauren said with a cute smile.

Camila opened it up and a huge smile formed on her face at the sight of the freshly made brownie.

"I was going to eat it but, I figured I'm on a diet anyway." She winked.

Camila bit her lip as she stared at her girlfriend with so much love and admiration because of this little gesture.

"Ugh just kiss her already!" Darren interrupted.

Lauren pretended not to hear him and instead checked out her girlfriend.

"Ugh, you guys are so gross." Dinah said.

"I'm surprised they have no shame." Normani added.

"Everyone thinks I'm fucking her. Which I am. But not in that context. Let me live. It's not like I can do this type of stuff on a regular basis."

"I'm surprised you two have kept it up this long." Ally said.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Camila asked.

Ally didn't want to say it. So she turned to look at Hailey hoping she would.

"You know, with all the bullshit everyone gives you about doing things with Lauren...it must be hard to go through that." Hailey said.

Lauren furrowed her brows in confusion, "Wait...what?"

"It's nothing." Camila dismissed.

The brains gave her a pointed look.

"Camz, what's going on?"

"Nothing. We can talk about it later. You should go back to your friends..."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah, plus everyone's starting to stare." The brown eyed girl said before she turned away from her.

Lauren clenched her fists because of the fact that they had to hide. Because she didn't want too anymore. And a part of her could care less but another part cared so much. She sighed and gave the brunette a soft smile, "Hey Camz?"

Camila turned to answer.

I love you. She mouthed.

Camila's faced flushed at her girlfriends actions. Her friends were giving her looks and grins. She ignored them got her shit together to respond by mouthing I love you too.

Later that day at home, Lauren was waiting for her girlfriend to come over. She had told the girl to come an hour after her practice ended so she'd have time to shower. After the crime the had changed into grey joggers and a black sports bra, she put her hair up in a loose, messy bund. She then cleaned her nose ring that she had got a few weeks prior. She tried to get her girlfriend to get a piercing herself, but Camila wouldn't budge. And a part of Lauren was glad she didn't because she really valued her pureness. She was untouched. Untarnished. Except by her. And she wanted to keep it that way.

After a few moments, Lauren's mother knocked on her bedroom door.

"Come in!" Lauren yelled as she was bent over picking up her room.

"Lauren, honey, we need to talk..."

Lauren walked over to her hamper and placed some clothes in there. She then turned to her mother and asked, "About what?"

"About what happened and something else..."

"It's been weeks since you've found out. Why talk to me about it now?"

"Because, i wouldn't talked to you sooner but I was ashamed of myself. I failed you as a mother, as a protector, as a friend."

Lauren's facial expression eased. She then walked over to her mother and hugged her.

Tears began to fall down Clara's cheeks and onto Lauren's shoulder.

"I'm so sorry." Her mother muttered in self hatred.

Lauren tightened her arms around her mother.

"It's not you fault. I didn't tell you because I was scared and because...I didn't want to accept that it happened. I still don't. Not even now."

"I should've noticed. I should've known that something was wrong. I didn't put everything together."

"..."

"After she left, and your father went abroad to work, you were different. You were so hostile all the time and always got into some type of trouble. And I didn't have enough sense to ever ask or find out why. I just thought it was a teenager thing, but I was so wrong..."

"Mom-"

Clara pulled away from her daughter and interrupted, "I was just really distracted all the time. With your brother and sister, but your father especially. I just wanted to impress and show him the ideal wife I could be because I was so scared he'd leave me for one of his possible mistress' or any other woman that crossed his way because of how distant he had become after he founded the company..."

Lauren furrowed her brows at her mothers words. Hurt by the fact that she had no idea how much her mother deprecated herself.

"You're the best wife any man could have mom. You don't deserve his bullshit. None of us do."

"I just feel like I couldn't done something but I didn't because I was focusing so much on making your father happy and taking care of you guys by myself that I've been a terrible mother. But that's not an excuse. And I'm so sorry Lauren. I know I might be too late but I'm willing to make this up to you and do what I should've done years ago."

"..."

"I'm divorcing your father and moving away from this house."

"M-Moving?"

"Yes, and I'm taking you kids with me."

"Mom we can't move-"

"I knew you were going to say that. But listen, not living next to Camila isn't the end of the world. We can move somewhere else in town, and you can visit her as much as you want."

"No mom, you don't get it. This place...this neighborhood, it's special."

Clara gave her daughter a sympathetic expression.

"When we moved here, I was broken. And the only persons who's been able to fix me is living right next door. And the funny thing is, I didn't even know she was so close. And, I fell in love. I fell in love with the girl next door."

Clara smiled at her daughter's sincere words, "Moving away won't change that though. The memories and everything you've built here, will be here."

"But I won't. It's not the same."

"Look, just think it over okay? I just want what's best for you kids and I think getting away from this house and your father is the best way."

Lauren nodded.

"Think it over and let me know what you think." She half smiled before she kissed her daughters temple, "I love you Lauren."

The green eyed girl smiled at that, "I love you too."

Seconds later, the door bell rang.

"That's Camila."

"Go get it. I'll fix you guys a snack to eat and then I'll be off to the debutante meeting with Sinu."

Lauren agreed and then walked down to open the door.

Camila almost dropped the smoothies she was holding at the sight of Lauren's toned body.

Lauren didn't really understand why Camila was acting like that until she remembered that she wasn't wearing a shirt. She smirked and said, "Sorry, I'll go put something on."

"No, wait." Camila stopped her.

Lauren bit her lip, "Yeah?"

"It's okay, y-you don't have to if you don't want too."

"I thought you'd say that."

"Oh my god just let me in my hands are freezing."

"Gimme me a kiss first."

Camila playfully rolled her eyes.

Lauren puckered her lips out and closed her eyes.

The smaller girl squeezed between Lauren and the door way and got in.

Lauren turned around and closed the door before she let out a little bitter laugh in slight frustration of her girlfriend's action.

Camila stuck her tongue between her teeth before Lauren furrowed her brows in slight anger, "I'm going to give you a head start."

In that second Camila ran up the stairs and into Lauren's room. Lauren followed after her, just before she could close her own door on her. Camila quickly set the drinks down on her desk and backed away from Lauren as she approached her.

"Lo, it doesn't have to be like this." Camila said putting her hands up in surrender.

"You made me come to this." Lauren smirked as she walked towards her girlfriend.

Camila hit a dead end at Lauren's bed. She nervously watched her girlfriend get closer to her until the green eyed girl pushed her down against the bed. Camila closed her eyes at the collision and when she opened them, Lauren was already prowling over her.

She ran her hands up to the younger girls wrists and pinned them against her mattress.

She lowered her lips down to Camila's lips and whispered, "Dame un beso."

"No."

Lauren giggled, "God, why are you being so stubborn babe?"

"Because you're hot when you're mad."

"You little..." The older girl began to say before turned her head away from her.

"Oh so you wanna play that game now don't you?"

"Maybe."

Lauren placed her knee in between Camila's legs and pressed it up against her core before she roughly grabbed her face and turned her head to look at her.

Camila clenched her teeth as she tried to restrain herself from becoming aroused by her. Lauren continued to move and press her knee against her as her girlfriend's breathing got heavier.

Lauren lowered her mouth over her ear, "You like that?" She whispered in a low husky voice.

"Fuck you." Camila spit.

"That's not how it works Camz." Lauren said looking directly into her girlfriend's eyes.

Camila gasped as the friction was building.

"I do the fucking around here."

Camila giggled.

"That wasn't supposed to be funny."

"I know, but it made you mad didn't it?"

Lauren clenched her teeth before she ran her hand to the brunette core and unbuttoned her jeans. She slipped her hand in and Camila squirmed before she allowed her girlfriend to enter her. She pleasured her clit. Camila tried to keep back her moans but it was becoming unbearable.

"Fuck." She grunted.

"You're so wet...what do you suppose we do about it?"

Camila blushed.

Lauren went in deeper.

That exhausted a moan from her.

"Tell me." She ordered.

"Fuck me." Camila said.

"Kiss me." Lauren proposed.

Camila couldn't help but consider it.

"Come on. That's all you need to do."

"Fine." Camila found herself saying, before she jolted up and connected there lips. Lauren smirked and wasted no time in slipping her tongue in. They kissed each other roughly as Lauren worked down there. Pleasuring her girlfriend to the point where Camila couldn't help but rock her hips against her girlfriend's finger.

"Lauren!" Clara knocked.

The green eyed girl pulled her hand out of the brunette a pants and sat up. She buttoned up her girlfriend's jeans for her and helped Camila sit up due to her stunned body.

"Um come in!"

Clara walked in with a plate of mini sandwiches and placed them down on Lauren's desk top, "I brought a snack for you girls. I wasn't sure what you guys wanted to drink so if you're thirsty help yourselves to anything down stairs."

"Thanks mom." Lauren smiled.

"Okay you girls have fun. Well not too much fun. I'll be back in a few hours." Clara said before she left them alone again.

Lauren couldn't help but laugh.

"I totally forgot she was down stairs." Camila said.

"Oh I remembered, I just didn't care." Lauren smirked.

Camila hit her arm, "Ugh, you're such a douche."

"What? I was just having a little fun, then you wanted me to suddenly fuck you. Don't blame me."

Camila couldn't argue with that.

"Say, about earlier at lunch today, what did Bailey mean about people giving you bullshit?"

Camila hesitated.

"Have people been saying things to you about, you know."

"Yeah, a little."

"Tell me."

"People, especially the girls, are really upset with me because you're only "fucking" me or something."

"Seriously?"

"Yeah you're being glorified for it and I'm being hated for it."

"Camz, I'm sorry."

"..."

"Who's saying shit to you?"

"Too many people to count. But don't worry about it. What they say, I know it's not true. Plus, it's better this way anyway."

"What's better this way?"

"Pretending you're only physically invested in me. If people thought, or knew that we were actually dating. It'd be much worse."

Lauren furrowed her brows in concern of her girlfriend's words.

"So don't worry about it." Camila tried to smile, "I promise everything is okay."

"Camz, you know, if anyone starts to give you trouble, don't hesitate to tell me. I'll take care of it." Lauren assured her.

"I won't. If someone's bothering me, I'll tell you."

"Also..." Lauren began nervously, "Uh, my mom came in earlier and told me that she's divorcing my dad."

"And how do you feel about it."

"Honestly, relieved because I've been wanting her to leave him for years. But there's one thing that I'm not sure if I want to happen."

"And what's that?"

"She wants to move, and take us with her."

"M-Move?"

"That's what I said."

"And?"

"Well, I don't want to move, and I told her that but she told me to think about what's best for us. And I kind of think she's right. But this place, is special. Because living next to you was. And I don't know if I'm ready to change that yet."

"Maybe you should move." Camila said, almost regretting the words afterwords.

"What?"

"I don't want you to stay because of me. I want you to be happy with your family Lauren and you've been wanting to for a long time. Don't you think that this is your chance to finally have the life you always wanted with them?"

"I-I don't know."

"I just want you to be happy Lo. Besides we only have a few months left. And I think you need to embrace as much time with your family as you've got."

"But you don't get it. It's more than just the place being special. It's..."

Camila furrowed her brows in confusion.

"It's because you're my home ."

Camila's lips parted.

"You know, because sometimes home isn't necessarily a place or a state of mind, sometimes it's a person."

"Lauren-"

"I know it sounds dumb but it's true."

"It's not dumb at all. It's beautiful." Camila assured her, "It's just, I want you to think of your family when you think of home too. Because you deserve that."

"Camz..."

"Do what feels right Lo. Don't worry about me, or anyone. Just think about it and I'll support you."

"Okay."

Camila squeezed her girlfriend's hand before she remembered something, "Oh shoot I almost forgot."

"I know I forgot about those smoothies too." Lauren said before she walked over and fetched them.

"No." Camila said accepting it from her, "My Tia Carmen told me to go through the case with you again."

"Ugh, can we just do that tomorrow?"

"You keep putting this off."

"Can you blame me?" Lauren asked.

"I know you've had a busy week Lo, but we gotta do this sooner or later."

"Okay, tomorrow for sure."

"Promise?"

"Have I ever gone against my word?"

"Yes."

"Well, consider this my way of earning your trust back princess."

"Fine." Camila agreed before she took a quick sip of her strawberry smoothy, "But in return we get to watch any movie I want."

"Ugh, okay." Lauren agreed before she retrieved her laptop from under her bed and opened it. Clearly remembering that her copy of Halloween was in there from the day prior when she watched it with her little sister.

She mischievously smirked and let the movie run.
