Mercy's P.O.V
It’s been one month and five days. Since the day that David died. I try to live a normal life, but what is normal anymore? Because i really dont know? But what i do know is even though there are probably a million people on this earth who feel the same way, I'm alone, on my own, but I'll be strong. I need to be strong, for the both of us, until we meet again... you know someday. But with my friends by my side, and parents who love me, i think i can make it through this. I really do...
I roll out of bed and walk over to my closet. I pull out some cloths and lay them on my bed. I walk into the washroom and have a quick shower before returning tom room and getting dressed. I look in the mirror and like what i see; my black skirt goes great with my grey polka-dot sweater. I grab my black converse and slip them on my feet before going to put on some mascara and lip gloss, i spray a small about of perfume on me and grab my cellphone before going downstairs. I walk into the kitchen and go to sit down when the doorbell rings. I hurry to make my way to the door. Opening the door i find Ty, Marnie and Rachel. This is an everyday thing for them, they visit before they go to school. Only today i think im going to go with them.
"Someone got dressed this morning?" says Rachel making it sound like a question
"Well yeah, i mean everyone would laugh if i wore my Pjs." i say
"Okay... Mercy, you do realize that the only people here are you and your parent’s right?" asks Tyler
"Just come in, and i will tell you guys everything." i say waving my hand for them to come in
Walking back into the kitchen and over to the fridge, i grab the milk and set it down on the counter before going to look for some cereal. I decide on eating a small bowl of Cheerio's. Pouring milk into the bowl over top of the Cheerio's i grab spoon and sit down. Everyone looks at me intently.
"Soo, are you going to tell them?" asks Marnie "Or should i?"
"If you really want to." i answer
"Really!" she asks excited
"Sure, why not." i say taking a spoonful of cheerio's in my mouth
"Well, Mercy is coming back to school!" she says
"Mercy that’s great!" says both Ty and Rachel
"How come you didn’t tell me?" asks Rachel
"Because i wanted it to be a surprise..." i say
"But you told Marnie?" she asks
"It was partly Marnie’s idea" i say
"Oh...” she says
"So, hurry up. Let’s get going...” says Marnie
I quickly finish eating my cereal and grab my untouched bag from the living room. We all head out the door and into Ty's limo. We all start talking about what’s been going on lately in school and really just the world. Before i know it were at school and getting out of the limo.
Everyone’s heads turn and i hear gasps from all around. Jeez people, I’ve only been gone a month and five days...
Afriel's P.O.V
How am i supposed to earn my wings, if i dont even know how? Im still not even sure if this is all real. I wonder how she is... what she is doing right now, is she smiling? Why is it that all my thoughts lead back to her? I need to earn my wings, then i could be one step closer to her, i could leave this place and never come back... if it were that easy, i know it won’t be... the 'head angel' told me. Im to be assigned to someone, and i have to help that someone, with who knows what...
"Time is running out, you have three days." a voice says in my head
Three days, for what?
"To earn your wings...” says the Head Angel
"Stay out of my head! How am i supposed to earn them? Where do i start?" i ask
"Prove yourself." Angel says
"How?" i ask
Typical, like always leave me without the answers... just like you...
Mercy's P.O.V
The bell rings and we all make our way to Music. I take my seat and wait for everyone else to show up. A slow 5 minutes goes by and everyone shows up, taking their seats. The teacher is the last one to class. She looks over the class and her eyes land on me while a smile forms on her lips.
"Ah, Miss. Amaze it’s nice to see you in class today." she says
"Im happy to be here." i say smiling back at her
"Good to hear." she says
Okay, so maybe i lied, i dont know what i was thinking coming back, i am so not ready for this! Maybe i should just go home and try again tomorrow... or maybe next week. No! I can’t think like that! Or i will never come back. I need to do this. Not for me, but for David. I know he wouldn’t want me to miss school. No matter what. A hand pops out in front of my face, taking me away from my thoughts.
"Mercy? Hello! Earth to Mercy...” Tyler says
"Sorry, i was just thinking about something...” i say
"It’s okay, common class is over." he says
"Oh, okay." i say getting up
We walk out of the music room and he leads me towards the front doors.
"Where are we going?" i ask
"You'll see." he says
"Okay...” i say as he leads me out the door and into the limo.
Sitting in the limo feels nice, somehow comforting. Tyler turns on the radio and music starts to play in the background. We dance around in our seats and sing along to random songs. I take a break and just sit there for a while when David’s favorite song comes on. Luckily just in time for the limo to slow down to a complete stop. I look out the window to see the trail opening. I get out and Tyler follows me. We walk down the trail in silence until the tree house comes into view.
"Tree house? Really? You kept secret about taking me to our tree house?" i ask him
"Go look inside...” he says
"What, is there going to be some magic genie that will give me three wishes in there?" i ask jokingly
"NO, but if there was you would share him with me right?' he asks
Walking towards the latter and climbing up Tyler follows behind me. I unlock the door and walk in. all i see is a sheet dividing it in half...
"You put up a sheet?" i ask confused
"No, well... yes, but look behind the sheet...” he says
Walking up to the sheet and moving it to see behind it looking around i spot a small table that is set up as if two were to eat there.
"A tea party?" i ask
"No." he says
"Really? Because that’s what it looks like...” i say
"Well, i could always just take you back to school if you’re going to complain." he says
"Seriously though, we haven’t had a tea party or normal food up here since i made you that one time when we were eight... what gives?" i ask
"I need you to go to Hollywood with me...” he says
DID HE REALLY JUST SAY THAT!! Oh My God! This is me freaking out here... what am i supposed to say? What am i supposed to do?
"Mercy, are you okay?" he asks
"Why?" i ask as calmly as i can
"A movie premier and i want you to be there...” he says
"Oh. Okay sure...” i say "When?"
"This weekend." he says
"And when do we leave?" i ask
"Friday, after school." he says
"Today is Friday...” i say
"Really!?" he asks "Are you sure?"
"Look, i might not have been at school. But i still know what the days of the week are." i say
"Okay, im not saying you’re wrong... i just totally forgot." he says
"I see...” i say "But um. I think im going to need a wardrobe change... my cloths aren’t exactly Hollywood material...”
"Then we will go shopping." he says
"You know, for a guy you really like to shop...” i say "Are you sure you’re not gay?"
"You of all people should know the answer to that!" he says his cheeks getting red
"I was just kidding...” i say "Let’s go shopping!"
"Okay, you want to ditch school to go shopping?" he asks curious
"Why not, missed enough of it anyways...” i say
"Okay...” he says
*********THREE HOURS AND TWLVE MINUTES LATER*********
"Jeez, i thought you were going to but the whole store...” he says
"I didn’t by it, you did... and we bought everything but the store...” i say
"That’s beside the point. As long as you’re happy with what you got...” he says
"More than." i say
"Then let’s go. We have places to go, people to see." he says
"One of those places better include my house. I need to get my makeup and my pjs and tell my parents." i say
"Of course were stopping at your house. Your parents would kill me if they just randomly saw you on TV." he says
"Okay lets go." i say as we walk out of the store and towards the limo.
The drive to my house was quick. Before i knew it we were getting out and i was actually nervous to tell my parents about Hollywood. What if they told me i couldn’t go? Then Tyler would have bought me all those cloths for nothing. And i would feel really bad because he doesn’t need to spend money on me... i feel someone nudge me from the side and i whip my hand out to smack them. I hear a groan of pain and turn to look at Ty holding his hand to his face. I had hit him right in the nose.
"Oh Ty im so sorry!" i say reaching out to him
"It’s okay Mercy. No big deal, let’s get inside so you can tell them about Hollywood." he says
"Okay." i say
Here goes nothing...
Walking up the driveway and to the door i open it and walk in with Tyler following right behind me.
"Mom! Dad! Im home. Ty is here...” i call out
"Were in the living room." Mom calls back as we walk down the hall
"So, how was your day?" asks Dad as i place my bag down
"Good...” i say
"You had a good day at school?" he asks
"School was fine... different but fine." i say
"What did you learn today?" Mom asks
"It was all so confusing, so much going on. mostly people were just asking me questions, like are you okay and how are you feeling or saying things like, it’s so nice to see you back.." i say
"Well as long as you had fun...” they both say
"Yep." i say
"So, mercy... you going to tell them about the premier?" asks Tyler
"Oh, right..." i say "Mom, Dad there is a thing that Tyler wants me to go to with him this weekend... i was wondering, could i go?" i ask
"What kind of thing?" asks Dad?
"Well, im going to be in a movie and this weekend is its official premier... i would really like to have Mercy there to share the moment with." he says
"Well, as long as you promise to take of her, i dont see why not...” Mom says
"Where is it?" asks Dad
"Hollywood, where else?" i ask him
"You keep your eye close on her. And make sure nothing happens. Im trusting you Tyler, keep my little girl safe." he says
"Of course." he says
"I'll go pack some things..." i say walking out of the room and up to my room.
I grab my pjs, makeup, hair supplies, laptop and IPod making sure i have extra pairs of headphones i out them all in my suit case and zip it up before taking it downstairs. I walk into the living room as Tyler and Dad are having what looks like a serious conversation. I go over to Mom and give her a hug and kiss on the cheek, saying goodbye. Dad and Tyler stop talking and i go over to do the same to my dad. After that we both leave the house and get in the limo.
This is going to be interesting...
