Chapter 10
Truth or dare
"Hey, you alright?" I snapped out of my thoughts and turned my head, quickly towards Amy. She looked so beautiful, with her blond hair all messed up from the wind, and her bright green eyes sparkling in the dark. If only i was that beautiful.
We were now walking up some long stairs; slowly, following closely behind Jess as she walked up the last step and onto the landing. I was trying my hardest not to feel uncomfortable, but it obviously wasn't working. We landed outside a bedroom, the door was closed but we could hear music playing and the smell of strawberry perfume filling our noses. You could tell this was a sleepover.
"Yeah I'm fine" I answered as she gave me a bright, yet tired smile. I smiled back and then stood next to Jess as she pushed open the bedroom door and then walked inside. My tummy burst into butterflies or nerves as we entered the room, my head was pinned down to look at the floor as we stood there.
"Hey guys!" Amy shouted excitedly as she jumped on some girl that was laying on the bed in front of us. The girls smile was curved into a small grin as she looked over towards me. I couldn't help but smile as she smiled at me.
Amy sat up on the bed and giggled as everyone joined her. Jess stood in the doorway, looking bored as she stood next to me, frowning at every girl in the room. I looked around, the room wasn't too small, but it wasn't big either. It was the perfect size: a flat screen TV in the corner, a computer desk sitting next to it with a small computer on top and there was a bed under the window, a double bed, with cream covers on top. The walls were painted black and pink, all around with pictures stuck neatly on top, photos and posters. It was beautiful, i wish i had a bedroom like this.
I then looked at the girls sitting around the room, they were minding there own business. One girl played on the computer. She was nerdy looking, but seemed to have good dress sense. She looked like one of them mean girls from school, but she had this innocence about her that made her cute looking.
Next was a girl sitting on the floor, just by the edge of the bed. She had black hair up to her shoulders, bright brown eyes and her body was slim. She looked friendly, well that's until i realized who it was. It was the girl that i had been seeing everywhere today. First in math class, second of all when she nearly knocked me over at school and then in the cinema. What the hell? She was friends with these girls? Was that why she kept staring at me and Jess, because she knew Jess?
"Hey, who's this" Asked one of the girls excitedly. I gulped down the lump in my throat as everyone was now staring at me, like i had three heads or something. I thought i was going to faint at first, i cant even think, its like someone has stopped my mind from thinking with some special powers. Why am i so shy? Why do i have to be so lame and stupid? I could run away right now, unfortunately, Jess was blocking the exit. Damn!
"Oh guys. This is Kate. She's new at school and i brought her here so you guys could get to know her, she's really cool. Kate this is Danny." Amy pointed to the girl sitting on the bed who she had jumped on not long ago. I smiled politely before she carried on talking."...this is Charlie. Who you've obviously already met" She giggled as she pointed to the girl on the computer. "..and last but not least...that loser over there is Vanessa.." She giggled, as she hit the girl on the arm who was sitting next to the bed. I smiled at all of them then stiffened up as i caught Vanessa staring at me like she was going to attack me at any minute. First day of my new life and i already have an enemy.
"Hey. Shut up i am not a loser!" Vanessa argued, hitting Amy with the pillow behind her back.
Amy laughed and so did everyone else. I think i might actually get along with these people, although they remind me of the people in my last school, the popular crowd that ruined my life, except these were a little more friendly and less, violent.
I smiled lightly as Jess smiled at me. I wonder if she's told anyone we kissed? I wonder if this was just as awkward for her as it was for me. Yet again, it probably wouldn't be, considering i only find this awkward because i think her sister is extremely hot.
"Come guys I'm bored. Let's do something fun" Moaned Danny as she turned off the computer and walked over to the bed while everyone else watched. Jess walked over to the bed too and sat down beside Amy while sighing.
"Kate. Come sit here" Called Amy while smiling, tapping the empty space next to her. I walked over to Amy and then sat down before brushing the dust from my shirt and then sighing, tonight is gonna be a long night. I looked at the bottle in the middle and remembered the last time i saw a beer bottle.
Mom.
I hope she's alright, i shouldn't have left her like that, she could be really sick and who's gonna look after her? Calton cant, my brother cant.
"So yeah. We're playing truth or dare right?" Jess said as she rolled her eyes and leaned back, i giggled a bit at her moody ways and then joined her, by leaning on the side of the bed smiling at her. At first she smiled weakly but then as soon as she saw my smile, she winked at me and smiled back.
"Yeah we are, problemo mi sis?" We all giggled as Amy tried to put on an accent. I sat closer into the circle we all formed. I jolted as i felt Amy's arm pressed against mine, her soft skin felt good. Ok, no. Stop it! "Okay. I'll spin first and whoever it lands on has to pick truth or a dare. You have to do it, okay?" She added while spinning the bottle quickly before watching it spin fast, pointing to everyone before slowing down.
"Oh really, that's how you play this game. Who would have known?" Vanessa remarked sarcastically, causing everyone to giggle as she stuck her tongue out.
Why was it that whenever a group of people got together they would get out a bottle and play this stupid game?
We all watched as the bottle began to slow down, getting slower and slower.
Before i could run away, it eventually landed on me.
"Truth of dare Kate?" Asked Danny as she got into the game.
I looked around the circle and noticed everyone watching my every move.
"Truth" I said. Everyone moaned and Vanessa rolled her eyes at me.
"Boring!" She said as the group frowned at her.
"It's fine, it's truth or dare for a reason guys not just 'dare'" Amy announced, winking at me as she made me feel less uncomfortable. She knew how hard this would be for me since i didn't know anyone here.
"Ok, i spun it so i decide the question" Amy added, rubbing her hands together like an evil genius.
"Please don't make it boring!" Charlie grinned.
"Ok, are you a virgin?" Amy asked, smirking her face off as everybody giggled like a bunch of children.
"She obviously is.." Vanessa remarked rudely.
I sighed deeply and tried not to answer the question for as long as i could.
"Sorry, but you have to answer" Amy continued.
"Yes i am."
"Knew it!" Vanessa torted.
"Shut up Vanessa, just because you've been poked more than a snooker ball" Amy spoke as they both frowned at each other.
I couldn't help but smile and try not to laugh as everybody laughed out loud at Amy's comment. She was the funniest person i've ever met.
"So am i, so don't worry!" Amy added, smiling at me.
"Anyway, enough of that!" Said Danny as she grabbed the bottle and spun it.
Jess looked bored as hell as she sat between me and Vanessa, while Amy sat in front of me and Charlie sat next to her.
The bottle stopped spinning and landed on Amy this time.
"Back luck Vanessa! What's it going to be?" Danny asked. Amy smirked and clicked her knuckles.
"Dare it is"
"Ok, i dare you to..." Charlie then smirked and whispered something into Danny's ear before pulling away and giggling. I'm not going to lie, i was crapping myself.
"Hmm good one. I dare you to kiss anyone in the circle."
"Anyone?"
"Yep" She said, popping the p.
Vanessa looked around the group before her eyes landed on me. I gulped hard and watched as she squinted her eyes and smirked.
I breathed in deeply not knowing what to say, probably looking like an idiot right now. My cheeks possibly red. I leaned forward and looked worriedly as everyone was facing me. Why do i have so much bad luck? Ever since that stupid accident I've had bad luck. Well the accident that happened when i was thirteen, it involved my best friend.
It was hot. Hotter than any other day so far this year, the clouds were invisible and only the bright , blue sky was in sight. Every turn we made in this small, black car was filled with the sight of trees. We were travelling to Wales, just for the summer to see my nan. My nan was amazing, she would buy me loads of stuff: clothes, toys, jewelry. She was everything i could have asked for, not because she spoiled me, because she understood me, always helped me with 'special' problems, girl problems. She was the best. We were visiting for about two weeks with my best friend Chloe. She was amazing. She was very beautiful, with short brown hair, green shiny eyes to die for, and a slim but tall body. She always made me laugh and smile. She was my best friend. We had been on the road for about three hours now, i was bored and starving and so was Chloe. The trees passed by like a flash of lighting, every tree was tall and thin, on each side of the road, i hope we wasn't lost or anything.
"I'm bored" I said to my dad as he drove quickly on the road, trying to concentrate on the map my sister was reading. I bet he took the wrong turn, we've been passing trees for almost an hour now, and I'm sure Ive seen them before. I sighed heavily and then sneaked out a bottle of beer under my seat as i winked at Chloe, she just giggled as she saw me take a sip. I whispered be quiet to her as she nodded slightly, I took another sip hiding behind my sisters seat as she read her map closely while dad kept looking onto the road. "Want some?" I whispered to Chloe as she shook her head and looked out her window, i shrugged my shoulders and then took another sip.
"Katie!" My dad shouted as he looked at me angrily. I sat back in my seat, shocked at his angry face and then laughed, it was like i was already drunk or something. My sister turned to me and tried to grab the bottle off me while shouting things like "Give it here. Now" and "How did you get this" I hid the bottle behind my back as Chloe stared at my dads angry face. All i could think to myself is how could i not have this. My mom drinks and she was allowed.
"Give it here?" My dad shouted as he turned to look at me. As soon as he said that it felt like everything went in slow motion, you know when you think something bad is going to happen in that exact second. And as soon as it does, it feels like you cant move. I screamed loudly as i saw some animal jump in front of my dads car and hit the window while everyone else screamed. Before i knew it, the car was skidding fast across the road and heading towards a thick, tall tree ahead. Right before it hit the tree, i saw Chloe look at me, her eyes seemed at peace, like she was already dead. Like nothing was going to harm her, but i could tell she was scared of what was about to happen next, and before i could save her, or turn back time and stop the car from hitting that tree. The car turned on its side and smashed into it.
Chloe died that day. All because of my stupid stunt.
I always have nightmares of her face when it crashed, her screams and my dad and sisters screams, i knew that it was partly my fault, that if i didn't have that drink in my hand and dad wasn't shouting, he could have avoided that animal, and we wouldn't have crashed.. I could have saved my best friend, ever since that day Ive had bad luck. I wish i never stole that drink. I wish i could have stopped that crash. I shook my thoughts away as Amy cleared her throat. I froze suddenly and remembered i was sitting there with other girls.
I turned to Amy and she gave me a evil grin before looking at the others. I gulped hard and watched as she giggled to herself.
I looked at Vanessa. She somehow was smiling at me, instead of glaring for once. Did she want to kiss me out of all the possible people here? She then moved into the circle and came towards me, i was shocked. Why did she want to kiss me after all the nasty comments she had made to me.
When she came closer our lips didn't touch straight away, but i could feel her breath on my mouth as she breathed in and out slowly. I caught my breath as our lips touch softly, moving against one another as we kissed. I could feel her smiling slightly as she kissed me back, like she was enjoying the kiss and she wanted more, but as soon as i heard someone clear their throat, i leaned back and let the air escape my lungs. I frowned when she smirked towards Jess. Ok, what's going on? Maybe she knew about us kissing? She's probably being horrible to her about it and trying get me to make her jealous that i'm kissing someone else. Stupid idiot.
"Okay. Your turn to spin." Amy said as i moved back into my spot and then looked away from Vanessa as she did the same thing. Clearing my throat, i spun the bottle quickly, thinking about what just happened. Did i really just kiss her, and did she actually kiss me back? Full on kiss me back? That's when i saw Jess frowning, like she was upset. Uhh, now she's upset with me.
After a long night of games, we all got ready for bed feeling tired and weak from dancing and drinking. Of course, i didn't drink, a lot anyway. Come on! Its a sleepover, you cant blame me. I'm trying to have fun. Besides, I'm not drunk, not even tipsy. I stood in front of the mirror, in the bathroom as i was getting ready for bed. I looked tired and my eyes were forming huge bags underneath. I pulled out my hair brush from my bag and started brushing my hair, thinking about everything that's happened tonight.
"Hey" Said a voice behind me. I looked into the mirror and saw Vanessa standing behind me smiling. She looked gorgeous, her hair was tied up into a messy bun, and her pj's had pictures of cute dogs on them. Her make-up was wiped off and the funny thing was, She actually looked better, more natural. If only i could go without make-up for once.
I smiled into the mirror and carried on brushing the knots out of my hair. The bathroom was big enough to fit a circus inside, the bath was huge and the mirror was wide, covering most of the wall, and everything was either white or silver, a good combination. The bathroom looked fancy and expensive, like some rich girl lived here and owned everything, I was more jealous then anything else. "You look nice" She added as she stood next to me, fixing her hair also as she stared into the big, wide mirror.
"Thank you" I smiled brightly then went to leave the bathroom as i put my brush back into my bag and zipped it up. As i was about to leave, Vanessa pushed me against the wall roughly and kissed me deeply and hard, pushing my hands above my head. I moaned slightly as her body pressed against mine softly, leaving only our pj's in the way of our skin touching. I dropped my bag onto the floor and pulled away shocked.
"Ive been wanting to do that all night" She whispered into my ear as she moved me towards the sink.
"Stop" I said quickly before pushing her away, i breathed in out heavily as i saw her expression turn from lust to confused.
"Whats wrong?" She asked, fixing her shirt. I get it now, she was trying to make Jess jealous and i wasn't going to be apart of it any longer. Jess like me and she didn't like that by the looks of things.
"I cant do this, I'm sorry" Biting my lip, i walked over to my bag that was lying on the floor; picked it up, fixed my hair and then walked out of the bathroom, leaving her standing there, confused.
I cant believe that just happened. I walked over to my sleeping bag that Jess had borrowed me and lay inside it, all i wanted to do was go to sleep and get out of here, I'm so confused. If only Chloe was here, she could help me with all of this confusion, she's my best friend. Chloe, if you're looking down from heaven right now, i need you. As i was about to fall asleep, i felt a hand wrap around me as i lay there tired. At first i thought it was Vanessa bothering me again, but when i smelled that familiar sent of roses, i knew who it was.
Amy
"Goodnight beautiful. Thank you for the best night ever" She said as she closed the distance between us, so her breasts were touching my back. At that moment i felt my heart ache, like I've done something terrible. I was supposed to be her friend, but i had already kissed Jess, her own sister.
"Goodnight" I whispered back, before closing my eyes, thinking about what's going to happen tomorrow.
One crush. One enemy and one bad mistake. Damn.
