Shawn p.o.v.
It's already been a month since all of us moved in. It was rough at first, but after a while we started getting use to it. Even the two gangs are starting to somewhat get along and by that I mean they're not trying to kill each other.
Today is the first day of fall break and tomorrow is Tristen's birthday. We're going to celebrate it over at Cam's house, since it's the biggest, but it's a surprise party for him. Tristen thinks we're going over just to hangout. It's a costume party and since Halloween just passed it's perfect timing. I'm making some pastelitos for the party right now with Luke and Tristen. Tristen was helping me with the dough while Luke would fries them.
Taylor was at football practice and Ashton was at work, so we wouldn't see them till 5, an hour before the party. Taylor and Ashton seem to be getting along better. Probably for the sake of Luke's and I's friendship.
"Shawnie," Tristen asks.
I turn over to him. "Yeah what's up?"
"My tummy feels weird," he tells me.
"Do you have a tummy ache."
He shakes his head no and and rubs his belly. "It feels weird here." I frown, not understanding what he means. I touch his belly and feel something strong and kind of glassy. When I remove my hand, he lifts up his shirt and I gasp. Part of his stomach is made up of a crystal.
"Oh my god," I yell. Looking at his stomach. "Does it hurt Tris?"
"Not really. It just feel funny, but not funny haha, but funny weird."
"Luke," I call. "Did you draw something?" Luke frowns at me and shakes his. I use my finger to gesture him to come closer. When he sees Tristen he gasps too.
"I-is s-something wrong with me," Tristen stutters out. I see him trembling as he looks at us. His eyes are full of tears. He's scared.
I hug him to calm him down. "No honey, you're fine. Lukey and I are just a worried of what caused," I say.
"It's okay. It will disappear like always," Tristen says. Always?
"Has this happened before?"
He nods his head. I feel his crystal belly disappear as I hug him. "You see? Gone"
We then hear a knock on the door. I looks over to Luke and he shrugs his shoulders. I tell Tristen and Luke to go to the other room, so I can answer it. When I open the door I'm greeted to Ms. Reyes. We haven't seen her in weeks. "Ms. Reyes? What are you doing here," I ask.
"I got a call. May I come in?"
"Yeah sure." I get out of the way and open the door more. She walks in and goes to the living room. I lock the door and follow her. When I get a longer look at her, I realize she looks different. She usually looks so elegant and fancy, but now she looks...well normal. She is wearing jeans and a teal shirt with a white under shirt. Her hair is up in a pony tail and she only has little bit of makeup on.
"Shawn I got a call from Jc today. He says that Brent has been feeling weird abnormalities in this apartment complex. Would you care to explain," she asks. She sits down on one of the couches.
Abnormalities? What does he mean by that? He can only sense mutants, so what abnormality could he be talking about. The only different thing in the mutant department is...Tristen. "What do you mean exactly," I ask.
"Shawn I need you to be truthful with me."
"Why you haven't told us the truth about the people who attacked us," I snap. I know she knows something, but isn't telling us. I've been scared for the last month or so of them coming after us and all she's been doing is hiding. We need answers.
She takes a deep breath and blows it out. "I know. I want to tell you guys, but I can't. If I tell you a lot of people could get hurt," she explains. What can't she tell me? How important is this information? "But what I can tell you is, don't trust them. I did once know them, but something has changed. I don't know what, but something. Just remember amor est key."
"Amor is what?"
She gets up and hugs me. "I don't have time to explain," she says. I hug her back feeling a little awkward, since I barely know her. "Riverview Mountain," she whispers. Next thing I know I'm in the kitchen again. I look around to remember how I got here, but I got nada.
I look at the table and I see a piece of paper. I pick it up and read it to myself.
We, in the biological department, have discovered something big about mutants. We
discovered that all natural mutants with one mutant parent or less, become mutantly active
around their teenage years. There might be a correlation between puberty and mutations
becoming active. We've also discovered that children to two mutant parents will either gain
two non related powers or become mutantly active at a younger age.
What the Hell is this? Who wrote this? As I read the letter over and over agin, I start to realize a few things.
Tristen is a mutant like us.
His parents must be mutants.
This is the reason why we all gained our mutations around the same time.
Then there is a really big question. What does this mean for Taylor?
3rd p.o.v.
Courtney saw her. She was the person they were all looking for. Maria Lopez a.k.a. Kyra Reyes. Hers and Arnold's job was simple. Find her and kill her. Courtney had done this a bunch of times, but something inside of her felt sick. She didn't know what though.
She saw the woman get out of the apartment building and walk down the street. Courtney got out of her car and walked towards her. She was on her own as Arnold was out of state looking for Maria at her old family ranch in Texas. Courtney follows her a few step back, not wanting her to suspect she is following her.
Maria turns left into an alley and Courtney smirks in satisfaction. She turns, but instead of seeing Maria she sees the inside of a gun barrel. "What are you doing," Maria asks as she holds the gun to Courtney's head. Maria takes a better look at her stalker and gasps. "Heather?"
That's when Courtney kicks the gun out of Maria's hand. Maria realizes fast, not to trust her and kicks Courtney in the face. Maria runs for the gun, but before she can grab it, a purple ray touches it and makes it glow purple and blows up. She turns back and sees Courtney grinning at her.
Courtney then aimed for Maria, but Maria jumps out of the way. Courtney does it three more times, but Maria dodges them all. Maria then gets close enough and throws a pocket knife to Courtney's shoulder. Courtney screams in pain before starting to compose herself. She couldn't let the woman get away. When Maria tried to run pass her Courtney blew up the ground making the other woman fall.
Courtney ran to Maria. She got near the dark haired woman, but before she could use her power, Maria spin kicks making Courtney fall. They both stand up quickly face to face. When Courtney tries to blow her up again, Maria punches her in the jaw causing the Courtney to look away and blow up a metal fence. She feels something on her head and she quickly turns with a kick to Maria's face. Maria falls and hits her head hard enough to cause her to pass out. Courtney smirks one last time, before she makes the woman blow up.
Shawn p.o.v.
"So what does this mean," Matt asks me as he paces around my room.
I shrug. "I don't know. All I know is I went, into some sort of trance or something, and then I saw that note."
Cam looks through my closet, trying to find me a costume. "What about the Lake canyon and the armor something?"
"I called Aaron and he said it's Latin for Love is key and he had no idea about the Riverview Mountain, but said he would look it up for me."
"Aha I found it," JJ says coming out of the closet. He brings out a pair of black jogging pants, a black long sleeve shirt, cat ears, and a tail. I blush as I look at them. Those aren't any of my things. They are probably Taylor's. "You can be cat. It will look so cute with Tristen bear suit," JJ squeals.
"I don't want to wear those. They're Taylor's."
"I catch you wearing his clothes all the time," Matt says.
"That's only when I haven't done laundry for a while. He has like a million shirts, of coups I would take his clothes. But I only do it when I'm home," I counter. "Plus who knows where those things been."
"They still have their tags, so they're brand new," Cam chimes in.
"You're not helping."
"Sorry Shawn, but that's all you have. Your other costumes must be packed up with your parents."
I sigh sadly when I hear the mentions of my parents. I haven't heard from them since they left. My mom said the city they're living in doesn't have good cell service, so they wouldn't be able to stay in touch. If it wasn't for the letters I sometimes get, I would feel completely abandoned. Plus Taylor is always there for me. Whenever I feel sad he will either try to cheer me up or gives me his shoulder to cry on.
"So what will it be," JJ asks.
Taylor p.o.v.
Ashton picks me up from football practice today. I get into his car and shut the door. "How was practice," he asks, not looking away from the road. He was already dress up for the party as the red ninja turtle.
"Pretty good. It was harder than usual, but it will be so worth it when we beat Vista," I tell him.
We do some more small talk here and there as we drive till we get to the apartment. When I get out of the car I take out my gym bag and look for the costume stuff I got from the store before practice. I didn't have much time to look for a costume, so I got a grey dog snout for my face and dog ears to match. I see a blue ninja turtle Luke come out of the building and walk to the car. I greet him and say goodbye as I get out and he climbs in. Him and Ashton are heading out to the party right now.
I take out my stuff and put them on as I walk to our apartment. I unlock the door to find Tristen in his bear costume eating some chocolate. "Taywer," he screams and runs over to me. I chuckle, picking him up and spinning him around. "Why you dress up too?"
"Because Shawnie and I wanted to have fun too in our costume," I lie to him. It's a little white lie, so it doesn't matter.
"You called," I hear Shawn say. I turn and see Shawn walk down the hall and he looked hot. He was dressed up in as a black cat with the kitten ears and tail I had hidden in my closet. "Can you stop drooling over me?" He tries to sound annoyed, but I can see the blush he has over his whisker drawn cheeks.
"I don't know. You are a pretty kitty," I say, making him blush more and Tristen to giggle.
"Pretty kitty," Tristen repeats.
"C'mom you guys. Let's go hangout with our friends," Shawn says, trying to change the subject. Tris and I agree and follow him out. As we walk out, I can't help, but check out Shawn's ass in my jogging pants. I must have been too obvious because Tristen slapped me and said his eyes are up there. I chuckle and apologize to him.
This is going to be one hell of a night...hopefully.
