CHAPTER 39
Jessie's POV
Silence. No one said anything and it was getting sort of awkward.
Chris said he was going to tell them what was going on, so they trapped us in a booth and claimed we weren't leaving till they found out what was going on.
Alice was on my left, and Zeke on my right, Chris was opposite me with Derrek on the left and Ashton on the right. Alice looked really uncomfortable, who could blame her when that idiot was opposite her.
"So ...." Started Ashton. "We gonna be here all night?"
I looked up at him and noticed he was looking at me. "He'll talk when he wants to." I replied.
Chris looked up at me and gave me a little smile. "I actually don't know how to say this." He mumbled before looking back down.
Aww i just wanted to hug him, he looked so pained hell i felt like crying and she wasn't even my sister. It's harder for him and so far he's been comforting me, wow i feel useless.
"Well." He began. "I guess i'll just come right out and say it."
"Alright." Said Zeke.
"I mean you guys will find out anyway."
"Yeah." Agreed Derrek.
"So it would be better off if you found out from me."
"Mhmmm." Mumbled Ashton.
"And i guess nothing can be changed now that its ha-"
"OH SPIT IT OUT!" Yelled Alice causing us all to look at her.
She may be my best friend but she shouldn't be so rude.
Chris's face fell into a frown as he looked down. "Hayley is d-dead." He started crying quietly.
I looked around and everyone looked shocked, nearly everyone had their mouths wide open. Alice looked at me with guilt all over her face. Silence re-entered the room.
"I'm sorry man." Derrek said as he put his arm around him.
"Whatever." Muttered Chris as he stood up. "Move." Ashton got up and let him pass.
I don't know if i should follow him, he didn't tell me to, maybe he wants to be alone or something.
"Jessie." He called out as he looked back at me.
Without a second thought i got up climbed onto the table and jumped off it, i wasn't going to bother making Zeke move.
When i got to Chris he put his arm around my waist and led us to his car.
Derrek's POV
I honestly feel so bad, if i knew it was going to be .... that i wouldn't have made him tell all of us at once. The silence between us all wasn't going away any time soon. How could that happen i mean knew she was sick but i didn't know how sick because Chris never spoke about it.
Hopefully she didn't mention anything about me or im dead. She probably didn't ...
I looked up and saw ever frowning, no one looked like they were about to start talking anytime soon. Oh well i don't even like these people i'm out of here.
"First off i'd just like to say you never doubt my bad feelings. Second off i'm gonna head off since i don't particularly like some off you." I looked towards Alice and sent her a wink, which caused her to look really uncomfortable heh heh. "And third Chris needs friends right now, and Ashton you and him used to be good friends, so just accept he's with Jessie and let them be." Like i have ....
I didn't wait for any responses and climbed over the table just like Jessie had done previously, and walked out, i should probably go check up on Chris...
Alice's POV
I can't believe i just did that, i feel like a bitch, a heartless, cold, mean, stupid bitch.
"Alice." Said Zeke now looking at me.
I knew what he was going to say, he was going to say i shouldn't have yelled at Chris like, and i shouldn't have.
"Are you alright?"
"Yeah." I replied.
"Oh good because if she's alright really matters right now." Mumbled Ashton loudly.
"Dude."
"No don't dude me, why did you shout at him, i hope you feel bad." He was glaring at me.
"Well i do and i don't need you lecturing me, you've been making his life hell ever since he got here, so shut up." I snapped.
He replied with a glare and looked away.
"Do you want to leave Alice?" Asked Zeke.
"Yeah, we should visit Chris tomorrow."
"Yeah." He agreed as we made our way to his car leaving Ashton sitting there.
I hope Jessie isn't made at me.
Ashton's POV
I'm such a hypocrite, Alice is right i never gave him a chance to explain anything to me i was jerk to him from the start! Especially in detention today, god why do i have to mess things up so much.
I slammed my head into the table ignoring the pain.
You know what! I'm going to go apologize to him now, i was going to do it anyway so i may as well go now.
"Excuse me but will you please leave i want to go home!?" I looked up and saw a lady glaring at me.
"Umm ... who are you?"
"The owner, and we closed half an hour ago, but you and your little friends were still here so i had to wait now go." She ordered.
"Right." I got up and made my way to the door.
"NOT SO FAST!" She yelled. "Someone has to pay for the two sundaes!"
"What!? I didn't order any sundaes!"
"Yeah but your little friends did, now i better see some cash or i'm calling the cops for ..... AN EAT AND RUN!"
"I DIDN'T EAT THEM!"
"I DON'T CARE PAY UP!"
Ugh i'm getting no where! I could just make a break for it, i doubt she'd catch me.
"TODD!" She screamed, almost as if she read my mind this giant guy who looked angry walked out.
"YOU MESSING WITH MY WOMAN!" He growled.
"No."
"He refuses to pay for TWO sundaes."
"I DIDN'T EAT THEM!"
"Listen squirt, pay up now or face pain!"
"Fine fine!" I gave in, i don't feel like leaving with a black eye. "How much?"
"THIRTY BUCKS!"
"FOR TWO FUCKING SUNDAES!" Is she fucking kidding me!
"LANGUAGE!" Yelled the woman.
"You got a problem!" Asked the big man.
I fake laughed. "Ha ha no, no problem." I scowled as i pulled out 30 precious bucks out and handed it over to the lady.
"Thank you and come again." She smiled sweetly at me.
"Bitch." I mumbled under my breath.
"WHAT DID YOU SAY TO HER!?"
"I HAVE AN ITCH!" I yelled as i bolted to my car.
When i got in i quickly drove away, i calmed down a little bit when i reached the high way.
What a stupid old hag, taking my thirty dollars. And her stupid steroid filled man. Stupid Derrek he just had to order something, that, that, that, PIG! Where did the second sundae even come from! It's just my luck.
I shoved all that aside and thought about where Chris would be.
Now there's three possibilities to where he is. Either: His house, Jessie's house, or the hospital. I really hoped it wasn't the hospital.
I guess i'll check his house first. Which was convenient since i was right by it. When i arrived i looked up and saw some lights were on, great someones home.
I got out of my car and walked to his door, i rang the door bell once and waited. The door opened not long after reveling Chris's mum looking horrible. Her make up was all smuged and her eyes were all red. I wonder what happ- GOD I'M STUPID I KNOW WHAT HAPPENED!
"Ashton." She said before engulfing me in a hug. "How good to see you my it's been a w-while." Her voice sounded strained, almost like she was holding back a break down.
"Yeah it's good to see you too Mrs. Sparrow."
"Oh call me Deloris." She pulled away from me and smiled, sort of. It was clearly forced.
"Umm .. is Chris home?"
"Oh no, i'm not sure where he ran off too." She looked away.
"Alright."
"Is there anything else i can help you with dear?"
"No I'm good, but thanks anyway. See you around Mrs. Spa- err.. Deloris."
"Goodbye Ashton." She mumbled before going inside and shutting her door.
That poor lady, she's so nice it isn't fair on her to have to go through this. Life really does suck sometimes.
Alright i guess i'd better go to Jessie's. I arrived at her house in no time since her and Chris lived within walking distance. There was a very faint light coming from inside, so someone must be there.
I got out and walked to the door ringing it once like i did previously. The door opened reveling a nasty looking .... prostitute? Ahh wait that's her mum ... i wonder what she's doing back.
"Can i help you?" Asked her mum with a scowl on her face.
"Umm .. is Jessie home?"
"Who?" Is she serious?
"Jessie? Your daughter?"
"Oh yeah her." She sounded drunk. "Nope haven't seen her."
"Havent you been gone for a couple weeks."
"Yerp but i'm back now." She hiccuped. "And i ain't got no clue to where Jessie is."
"Don't you care since you haven't seen her in two weeks and are her MOTHER!"
"Not really no." She really is a nut job. "Anyway if that's all you want then scram i ain't in no mood for stupid kids." She hiccuped again, then slammed the door.
I really do wonder how Jessie turned out so normal.
Great i guess i better head off to the hospital ... This is nerve racking, if they really are there then H-hayley might be there, and i won't be able to see her all not living.
The car ride was short, too short. I got out of my car and went into the reception.
"Hello." I said to the lady sitting there who looked half asleep.
It is pretty late ....
"Heya."
"Is umm Hayley Sparrow here."
"One sec." She looked through some paper work before taking a deep breath and looking back up at me. "Are you a relative of Miss S-sparrow?"
"No i'm a friend."
"Okay, but i'm sorry to inform you that Miss Sparrow has passed away."
"Oh i know." I mumbled quietly. However not quietly enough since she heard me.
"Then why do you want to see her."
"I don't want to see her .. i want to see if her brother might be here, i need to talk to him."
"Ohhh no dear i'm sorry the only person still here for Miss Sparrow is her father. Would you like to speak with him."
"Err no thanks it's alright i need to find her brother ... Chris."
"Isn't it a bit late for that, surely you could see him in the morning."
"NO i have to see him now, i need to apologize for .. something."
"Hmm okay i understand good luck with that deary."
"Thanks i'll need it."
I went out back to my car and got in.
There's no point for me to just drive around aimlessly if i don't know where he is .... i need to think, where would he take Jessie, when they're both not very happy, at one am. Actually what place is OPEN at one am. Not the mall. Not any restaurants that arn't MC Donald's. Not the zoo. Not the cinema. Not any theatre. I GOT IT! The park, it's the only place that never closes. And well i can't think of anywhere else right now.
I drove to the park which unfortunatly wasn't as close as everything else was.
Finally i arrived, i quickly got out and ran towards the park. Then it hit me, this park is GIANT! By the time i find them it'll be two am. I know i'll just call one of them i'm sure i'll hear their ring tone!
I quickly dialed Chris's number and as i expected i heard some music and a little light coming from the play ground area. I cancelled the call and walked to the play ground.
As i suspected they were sitting in the sand pit. Well more like lying down, Jessie's head was on Chris stomach and his hand was in her hair. Ignore that ignore that ignore that.
I took a deep breath which made them realise i was acutally here, they looked up at me.
"I'm sorry."
