Your concentration snaps when the lights suddenly turn on, and smack into the ground with a groan.
"I am so sorry," Steve Rogers bends down to help you up, but you float to your feet and restrain from glaring at him.
"I thought we agreed I'd have the gym for an hour to myself?" You growl, popping your back and he winces.
"I know, but I thought I'd join you? It's stupid, but-"
"You're right," You snap grumpily. "It was stupid of you to join me."
"I just-"
You don't bother to listen as you exit the gym, shutting the lights off just because you can and slam the doors shut.

So yeah, maybe you're regretting being a jerk to Steve Rogers. But he's too.. nice. Honest.
When you joined the team only a month or so ago, he was the first to greet you. At first, he wasn't too bad. He was bearable. But then came the invites out to eat with the team, only from him and no matter how many times you'd decline, he'd keep hinting and offering and so you decided that keeping your space is necessary if you want to keep from tearing his head off.
But right now, you're in the middle of a mission and he's your partner, and you're trying your hardest to not shove him out in the open.
"Cover me," He says, shield attacked to his arm as he crouches closer. "And I'll cover you. We have to make a run for it or else we'll end up with a hole or two in our body."
You nod, unclenching your hands and suck the gravity out of the room everywhere but a straight path for a door. Steve stands, motioning for you to go first, and he keeps a sharp eye on the soldiers squirming in the air, trying to grab for their guns, but they're gravitating to the ceiling out of reach. Then Steve spots a man with a gun, and he fires the bullet and it's aimed straight for you.
"Look out!" Steve shouts, launching at you and pulls your out of the it's range before it can hit you.
The men drop as you loose focus and you growl, eyes blazing as you push Steve away. "Nice going, Cap. Now all of them are unconscious,"
He shakes his head, laughing in disbelief. "That's all you've got to say? I save your life and what, no thank you?"
Your eyes narrow in confusion, and he motions to the bullet hole in the wall where you had been standing. "Oh,"
"Yeah. You're welcome,"
"Thanks," You say, catching his arm as he turns to run and he nods.
"No problem,"

It's been a few months from that mission where Steve had saved you and you're growing more accustom to him. You let him in the gym when you're meditating to keep your powers in check, but you use the time to talk and get to know each other better.
"So," Steve says. "You free this Friday?"
You sigh, cracking an eye open to glare at him from above. "I thought you stopped trying to invite me to eat with you guys-"
"Not with the team," His cheeks flush red and you raise your eyebrows. "Just us. If that's okay?"
You lower yourself to your feet and tilt your head. "Why? Just us, I mean,"
He laughs nervously, but it sounds like a puff of air. "Well, we've been getting kind of close lately. Not that there's anything wrong with that," he rushes out, threading his fingers together. "But thats when we're here, in the gym and in our work place. I want to, uh, get to know you better outside of the gym and our work place.. this is hopeless. Never mind-"
"So what you're asking me is," You say, stopping him as he head towards the exit. "If I want to go on a date with you?"
He stares dumbly, but snaps out of it and nods. "Yeah. I mean, yes,"
He grin, grabbing the collar of his shirt and pull him down to press a kiss to his cheek. "Come by my door at 7, okay?"
"Yeah," He breathes, watching as you walk backwards and slip out of the room.
