Jades house is just outside the woods, very far from suburbs and neighbours. Probably to openly use their magic, practice spells, and mix potions freely.
When I pull up to the house I know for a fact it belongs to a witch, I could smell the herbs and potions a mile away. The house looks like a large cottage type thing, it's quite elegant and vintage. Climbing out of my car I quickly walk up to the door needing to fix this problem now.
I raise my hand to the door, ready to knock but before my fist connects with the door it opens abruptly. I look up to see one of my vampires, I think his name is Jackson, he is one of my many loyal subjects.
"My apologies lord Marcus" he says moving aside
"You're fine, how are you Jackson?" I say praying I got his name right
"I'm fine thank you, just picking up some sleeping herbs, the humans won't fall asleep themselves" he jokes, since Jackson is a young vampire he doesn't have a ranking. Some vampire give humans herbs because there mind hypnosis isn't strong enough yet.
"I understand, well you have a nice day I'll see you around" I tell him, he bows his head in respect and walks by me leaving the doorway empty.
"Jade?" I call out
There's a silence "Mr.William's?" Her voice echoes through the house
"It is" I say loudly, I see her come around a corner of the doorway with a look of confusion on her face
"What are you doing here?" She asks
"I need your help, it's about Rose" I tell her stepping in
"Oh what do you need?" Her voice curious
"It's that bad person I was telling you about, he went through her mind to make sure I broke it off with her and has been blocking me out of her dreams. Since we aren't mated yet I can't have access to her thoughts, but I had her dreams, so I need you, your mother, or grandma to cast a protecting spell over her"
"Wow well ok then" she says as she leads me over to sit on the couch "I'll get my mom and grandma" she says walking out of the room
I sit and look around the room of there house, if you knew about witches you could tell there were subtle hints throughout the decor. Groups of long grass like herbs decorate parts of the walls, a very large stone fire place, candles all around. The very large pot is hanging over the un-lit wood and under the fire place, it has dents all over it, no longer looking round.
I don't think they would mind if I took out the dents in there potion mixing pot. I focus deeply on the pot and the sound of loud metal bending fills the silence that I sat in. I look at the pot and it looks good as new, not even a small dent just a smooth round shape.
"Well thank you Mr.Williams" a beautiful older mirror image of Jade comes in the room with her hand on her hip looking over at the pot "that's been in our family for over four hundreds, you shouldn't be surprised of how beat up that thing was" she says
"It was my pleasure" I say walking over to her and putting out my hand "it's very nice to meet you Ms.Clearwater"
"You to, but please call me Nora, Jade has told me a lot about you" she says smirking "she told me your situation I thought I was going to have to curse your ass for hurting my Rose" she jokes
"Trust me it was the hardest thing I have ever done" I tell her honestly
"I bet" she says just as Jade comes in with an elderly lady by her
"Mr.Williams this is my grandmother Belinda and my mother Nora" she says pointing to each
"How are you" Jades grandmother asks sweetly
"Fine thank you" I nod my head
"Jade darling put on a fire for the fire place and light the candles" her mothers asks of her
A wide smirk spreads across her face "sure mom" she raises her hand and a large ball of orange and red fire appears in her hand making me jump in surprise. I had forgotten of her power. She flicks her wrist elegantly and the ball of fire goes flying to the fire place making the dull wood become a warm hot flame. A proud smile inches it's way on her face, she looks over at me and I nod my head with a impressed smile. She snaps her fingers and fire appears hovering above her pointer finger she walks around to a couple of the candles and lights each.
"We just had one of your vampires in here only 30 minutes ago, let me just tell you I haven't heard about a vampire attack in the longest time, you are doing an amazing job keeping your vampires under control" Nora praises
"Thank you, I try to respect them as they respect me, give them options and show them the benefits of not killing humans and living among them" I tell her "but I couldn't do it without Caden"
"Caden?" Jade speaks up curiously
"Yeah, he has been helping me for almost as long as I have had this land" I tell her proud of my best friend and all of his help
"Well let's get down to business shall we?" Jades grandmother suggests, we all nod and walk over to couch.
"Ok so Mr.Williams tell us what you need" Nora says crossing her legs
"I need a protection spell over her, I can't have my brother-" before I even notice my slip up Jade interrupts
"It's your brother!" Jade says surprised "Caine right? Grandma told me stories about him, he sounds evil! And now he's going after Rose to-...to do what exactly?" Jade asks
I sigh not having a much of an option to tell her or not, minimal detail sounds like the best option right now "he wants revenge for something that happened a long time ago. So now he wants to get back at me. I finding my mate has given me a big enough weak spot for him to use against me" I say letting out a long sigh "but anyways I need the protecting spell over her mind so he can't go in and search around anymore"
"A very simple fix, we'll just need her to come over sometime how about this weekend?" Nora suggests
"No it needs to be done tonight" I say sternly
"I'll call her, she should be getting off work soon" Jade tells me
"Perfect what does she get off?"
"7"
"It's five past seven already" I say after looking at my watch
"Oh? Really? Ok I guess I'll call her now, she's not going to be happy about seeing you" she says digging out her phone from her purse
"Shit you're right" I say
"Language" Belinda says scolding me
"Sorry, but you're right she won't like that I'm here" I say thinking of something we could do "what if you put her to sleep!" I suggest
"Ok yeah sure mom go get the valerian and grandma can you go get the candles we'll need?" Jade asks of her mom and grandmother, Nora and Belinda nod and excuse them selfs from the room.
"Will that work?" I asks nervously
"Yes it's a natural sleeping root we will burn it and when she inhaled it, she'll fall sleep, and just to make sure she doesn't wake up my grandma can put a sleeping spell over her, it will only last an hour" Jade explains "well I'm going to go call her, I'll be right back" she says standing up and walking out of the room
I listen closely to each ring of the phone very anxious to her Rose's sweet voice. I probably shouldn't be snooping but I miss her and hearing her voice will fill the void at least for a little while.
"Hello?" A shiver runs down my back hearing the breathtaking sound of her, I hadn't heard it all day. I never called on her today in class. She was in pain and if I didn't leave her alone it wouldn't have ended well.
"Rose!" Jade yells dramatically "come quick! There's an emergency at my house!"
"Oh my god! What happened?" She asks in a rush
"No time to explain just hurry" Jade plays well
"Jade are you ok! I'm just leaving work now, I'll be there soon!" Her voice dripping with worry
"Ok" Jade says pretending to be out of breath and hangs up
She walks back in the room putting her phone in her pocket "was that necessary?" I ask, my eyebrows knitted together
"You said you wanted her here fast, so now she's in a hurry" she smart off
I roll my eyes just as Nora and Belinda come back in the room holding candles and a long grass plant. "Ok is she on her way?" Nora asks Jade
"Yup" Jade says popping the P
"Ok good, Marcus go behind the door when she comes in and breaths it's going to hit her pretty fast so we'll need you there to catch her" Nora say pointing at the door "Jade honey go ahead and light the valerian just so it's in the air before she gets here, make sure to walk around the house with it, me and grandma will start the circle"
"Will the valerian effect me" I ask if it would effect them but seeing as they are witches they smell that stuff all the time.
"Oh right! here" Belinda says handing me a vile of blue liquid, I look at her with a questionable look. "It will make you immuned to the valerian" she tells me, I shrug and pour the liquid down my throat.
Jade lights the herb with a snap of her fingers and the smoke lifts up though the air. Belinda and Nora get to work in drawing a star with a ring around it, they put the candles at each of the five point in the star "Jade" her mother says implying to light them, Jade nods and snap her fingers, flames instantly flicker on the wick of the candle. I stand there very impressed, I have seen plenty of spells with witches but the way they do it so comfortably is amazing.
"Ok Marcus, behind the door you go" Nora says ushering me toward the door
I stand against the wall of the closed door, waiting Rose to come through "she should be here any minute" Jade states
Just as she says that we all hear the loud sound of a run down engine pulling up. Jade runs to sit on the couch while Belinda and Nora go stand in the kitchen. I hear forceful step of Rose running up the steps to get to the door, even with the very strong smell of the herb in the air, I still smell her intoxicating scent.
The door handle is pulled roughly and yanked open swinging to almost hit me "Jade!" Rose's yells in a panicked voice, I look around the door to see her standing there just inside the house. All of a sudden she gets very wobbly and begins to fall, I step out from behind the door as fast as I can to catch her before she plummets to the floor. I grab her tiny waist and arms and wrap my arms around her, immediately feeling the hair on my body stand up due to the skin to skin contacted I had been craving all week.
I pick her beautiful body up bridal style, and look at her peaceful face as she sleeps. I brush a loose piece of hair out of her face and caress her cheek softly. If only I could see her in this tranquil state all the time instead of in pain because of what I did. I bring her over to the circle and lay her down on the floor, careful not to knock over a candle. Jade comes over from the couch and looks Rose over uneasily and anxious.
"Grandma she out" Jade yells to the kitchen, both come in the living room and sit around her sleeping body.
"Mom should you check her out first?" Jade asks
"I think that's a good idea" she says than she looks over at me "I am going to look in her head, to see how much damage your brother did, it might have been too much on her and the spell won't work as effectively, by looking in I can see how powerful he is and the power he used on her" she tells me I begin to worry, Caine wouldn't think twice on how much he hurt her, he simply wouldn't care. Nora puts both her hands on either side of Rose's head and closes her eyes, focusing very deeply.
"Mom has the ability of seeing if you hadn't already guessed" Jade tells me quietly, I nod and continue to watch Nora intently.
We are all silent for a good five minutes before Nora came back to us "he is very powerful, his ability is well developed and strong, I don't know how long this spell will last. He has already been in her brain, he knows all of her weaknesses and the ends and out of it, I really hope this spell won't wear off" she says saddened "do you plan on going into her dreams?"
"I would like to, if he found out though he would kill her. After this spell will it be safe to go in, will I be blocked out anymore?" I ask
"No he won't be able to block you out" Nora explains
Even though I wish she didn't have to forget her dreams it will be safer this way and I will still be able to be with her "ok" I say "do you have to do this-" I say gesturing to the circle and candles "for every spell?" I ask because I have seen witches do spells randomly
"No not at all, but this will be the strongest way, since all three of us are using our powers" Jade tells me I nod understanding
Jades grandmother beings chanting things in Latin, I make out some of the word most having to do with being clam, sleep, waking up but I only got parts of it.
Belinda stops and nods to Jade "it is done"
They three gather around the circle and join hands around Rose. I stand behind them waiting nervously.
"In this place and in this hour
By the guardian of secrets of the night protect this child's body and soul
rid the presents of Caine and protect her from his powerful ability
and close the doors of her mind" they all three say in unison, they chant more protecting over her as I sit back and observe
The circle begins to turn golden and shines bright, a purple swirl of air lift above the circle and when the three release hands it shoots into Rose's head. It became silent between the four of us as we sit and watch Rose for a moment.
Jade turns to me "can you put her on the couch?" She asks, I nod and walk over to her calm restful body and pick her up. I take her light over to the couch and lay her down softly. I stare at her beautiful face before bending down and placing a gentle kiss on her lips. I have only even done that once before an the feeling is still indescribable. If only we could be together and I could kiss her whenever.
I never wanted this, by now I wanted me and my mate to be happily together always kissing, hugging and so much more, but this is how I have to live...for now. Once I kill my brother I can live the life I had always wanted with my mate. I will never have to hurt her I will cherish every second I spend with her, remember ever kiss, every touch, every I love you, forever. I will make sure she always feels loved, cherished, important, beautiful and everything else that she is.
"Now we have to wait" Belinda speaks up
"How about we eat something? Marcus I'm sure you don't want any of our food" Nora says
"No thank you I actually plan to catch a bit to eat after I leave here" I tell her
"Well while we wait I'm going to make a sandwich, Jade? mom? Do you want one?" Nora asks
"I'll have one" Jade says
"No thanks" Belinda brushes the offer off
I realize that Caden still isn't here yet, it's not that I really needed him here but I do have to tell him about what Caine did this time. So I would rather him come here, it would save time so that when we get to my house we can work out the plan.
I send him a text asking where the heck he is, he texts me back apologizing saying he was on the other side of town feeding and had his phone turned off but will be here shortly.
"Belinda I hope you won't mind but my friend, Caden, he is coming over I wanted to discus what happened with him. When Rose wakes up we will leave, I don't want her to see me, but I would like to make sure she is ok" I politely say
"Of course we don't mind" she says a warm smile growing on her face
"Thank you" I nod to her "and should we give him the antidote for the valerian?"
"No it wore off it only stays in the air a little while" she informs me
"Right" I say and a knock sounds at the door "that's probably him now" I say standing up to get the door
I walk up to it and open it wide to be met face to face with Caden, his face goes from worried to shock and pleasure, his pupils expand taking up most of the blue "what is that smell? It smells-" he begins but I cut him off
"It's a sleeping herb, valerian, we had to use it on Rose come in and I'll explain" I tell him, he steps in and I lead him to the living room "this is Belinda" I introduce she gets up from the couch that rose isn't laying on.
"Pleasure" he says quickly looking around
"You to, I have heard that you are an amazing warrior, killed more bad men in war than anyone could count, it's a honor to meet you" she says taking his hand and shaking it lightly "and your gift of knowledge of ranking and ability I'm sure helps Marcus out greatly" she says looking over at me
"He is a big help yes" I complement looking over at a very distracted Caden "Caden what are you doing?" I ask irritated and quietly not appreciating his rudeness to one of the woman who just helped Rose very greatly
"I'm sorry it's just that smell, it's so-" he continues to search the house with his eyes
"It's just a sleeping herb!" I tell him "should it be effecting him like this?" I ask Belinda pointing at him, she shakes her head no. "well then what the heck is wrong with-"
"Grandma you sure you don't want a sandwich" Jade says coming in the room holding a plate, she looks up and her eyes widen when they land on Caden and Caden's face is in pure shock, love, and lust.
I look between the two of them...shit "No" I say starring but I stand corrected when Jade drops her plate spilling food all over the floor and starts running to Caden. He runs to her as well and scoops her up, wrapping her legs around his wait and starts to passionately kiss her.
Me and Belinda stand by each other completely shocked, our mouths hung wide open "um.... I'm just going to take a guess and say they're mates?" Belinda breaks the silence besides the sounds of them kissing
"That's what I'm thinking" I says, still amazed but I need to break this up. I don't want to see my best friend and my soul mates best friends start anything they can't finish with me and her grandmother in the room.
At the same time as I say "Caden!" Like a parent getting onto his child, Nora comes in with a horrified and shocked expression "Jade! what are you doing"
They break the kiss both looking surprised, Caden slowly releases Jade putting her back on solid ground, but still keeps her close and wraps his arm around her small waist. "can I ask...what the heck is going on?" I say
"She's my soul mate" Caden says looking down at her with loving eyes
"Oh my god!!" Both Nora and Belinda say at the same time turning to Jade.
"Honey I can't believe you found your soul mate! You're one of the lucky witches who actually has one!" Nora says excitedly
"I..I can't believe I have one" Jade says in shock
"And he's a warrior! The best of them!" Belinda says excitedly
Caden smiles charmingly "thank you"
He looks down at Jade "You are so beautiful" Caden whispers in Jades ear causing her face to light up red. The fire place and all the candles once small flames erupt in huge foot tall flames going from orange to blue fire
"Jade calm down" Belinda says to her granddaughter laughing
"Sorry" Jade apologizes and the flames return to normal
I walk over to Caden and pat him on the back, he turns to me looking away from Jade "congratulations, I know how long you have waited for this"
"Thanks Marcus" he says and then turns back to Jade
"I'm Caden by the way" he says with a chuckle causing her to close her eyes and listen to the sound of it
"I gathered that" she says giggling quietly "I'm Jade"
"What a beautiful name" he says
"A warrior and a charmer" she smirks
I hear a quiet sigh from behind me and I turn around to see Rose stirring in her sleep "Nora I think she waking up" I tell them
"You should leave" Jade says, holding into Caden's arm...that's going be hard to get used to
"I know" I say frustrated, I don't want to leave but I know I have to, if Rose sees me it will hurt both of us. I walk over her slowly, her eyebrows knitted together as she stirs again. I bend down slowly beside her, I pick up her hand and hold it to my face. I love this girl so much, her soft fingers and palm cool my face, I close my eyes enjoying the feeling that I had missed so much.
I drop her hand and place my hand on her forehead, I kiss it tenderly and stand up "Caden I assume you will stay here with Jade?"
He nods squeamishly "if you don't mind, I'll come over tomorrow afternoon and we can talk then?"
Even though I want to figure out the Caine situation to protect my mate he just met his and I don't want to pull them apart the first day of there meeting "of course I'll see you then, Jade I'll see you Monday I'm guessing" I say to Jade
"Tomorrow is Friday?" She asks couriousily
"I have a feeling you might be busy tomorrow" I tell her winking at both of them, Caden smirks and looks at Jade, her lips twist up into a smug grin as well.
"You're right" she says and Caden's hands ball into fists
"Goodbye Nora, Belinda it was a pleasure to meet both of you, thank you so much for you help" I thank them
"Of course Rose is practically part of the family, it was an honor to meet you" Nora says both her and Belinda bow there heads and I nod back
Rose makes a soft cooing sound as she slowly starts to stretch making me want to stay. I smile looking one last time over at her and head to the door, leaving them to explains what she's doing there.
Rose's POV
I hear the loud slam of a door as I stretch my tight muscles, I feel the left over feelings of sparks on parts of my skin just like I did when Marcus touched me. I open my eyes hoping to see Marcus but I see Jade sitting on the coffee table in front of me. My eyebrows knit together in confusion, I look around and I come to the conclusion that I am in Jades house. I try to think back to before, I guess, I fell asleep. I was at work, Jade called me and told me there was an emergency so I left in a hurry and when I got here....nothing.
"Why happened?" I asks rubbing my eyes
"Well I called you to tell you to come to my house and when you got here you passed out so we put you on the couch" she explains
"Oh sorry" I say then I realize something "hey my head aches gone"
"Really? maybe that's what you needed" she says shrugging
"Oh god what was the emergency?! Are you ok?" I ask franticly
"Yes! I'm amazing-"
"Jade is she awake?" A very masculine voice comes from the kitchen, we both look in that direction.
I look back at her one of my eyebrows lifted "who is that?" I whisper
"That's why I'm so happy!" She says a huge smile plastered on her face. I'm surprised, this is the happiest I have seen her in a long time. "yup she's awake" she yells to the mystery man
A very handsome man comes in probably 23, he has golden blonde hair, bright blue eyes, very muscular and tall. I peel my eyes from him and wiggle my eyebrows at Jade and he blushes furiously. My best friends Jade is actually blushing! This is a first. "hi I'm Caden, it's very nice to finally meet you Rose, I have heard so much about you" he says extending his hand I take his large hand in mine she shake it.
"Can't say I've head much about you" I say looking over at Jade
"We're together" Jade says as Caden come and sits with her on the table, taking her hand in his
Saying I was surprised would be an understatement "really?! When did you meet, why haven't I heard about him!" I demand an answer
"Well we kinda met today....we uh...I was at school and we bumped into each other, he was headed to see Mr.Williams actually and we kinda just clicked. It was love at first sight" she says
"oh you..know Mr.Williams?" I ask trying to cover my hurt tone
"Yes he's my best friend actually" he tells me
"Oh" is all I say, I take out my phone and look at the time, my eyes almost budge out of my skull "it's 9:15! why did you let me sleepy this long!" I ask
"Well you looked exhausted" Jade says
"Well I got to go is Belinda of Nora here?" I asks
"Yeah they're here" she says
"Tell them I said bye I still have to do my homework and shower" I say dreading how long I'll be up and how little of sleep I'll get
"We'll walk you out, we were just leaving" Caden says
"Ok" I say, he seems pretty friendly even if he is friends with Marcus and I can tell they at least get a long, they won't keep there hands off of each other for a second.
We all three stand up and walk to the door. Jade is holding an over night bag and throws it over her shoulder "Hey mom" she says "can I stay over at Caden's tonight?" She asks sweetly my eyes go wide at her question. Nora comes in the room with a dish rag drying her hands.
"Sure honey" if it's possible they grow even wider she walks up to Jade and hugs her "use protection" she whispers me and Jade both gasp and Caden I guess heard that because he chuckles
"Mom" Jade says irritated
"What? just in case" she defends
"Ok bye" Jade says
"Bye Nora" I say
"Bye darling how are you feeling?"
"Fine thanks I'll see you later" I say giving her a hug and walking back over to the door
"It was nice to meet you Ms.Clearwater" Caden says with a wave
"Oh please call me Nora you're part of the family now" she says hugging him
"Thank you" he says hugging her back
"Ready?" Jade asks
"Um yeah" I say still a little in shock Jades mom would never let her stay at a boys house, what is going on
We walk out of the house and I tug back Jade as Caden walks ahead "what the heck are you doing?!"
"What do you mean?"
"What are you sleeping over at his house you don't even know him"
"Yeah but...I like him a lot"
"How is your mom letting you do this!?"
"She knows what's going on"
"I sure as hell don't"
"Ok don't take this the wrong way or get mad but it's the same as you and Marcus, or Luke and Amber when you first saw him you liked him a lot and you wanted him right?"
Why did she have to bring him into this "yeah" I say quietly
"Well it's the same with me and Caden, I mean looks at him" she says winks and fans her face, moving her raven black hair out of her face
I do understand the feeling and maybe that's what's happening with her. I shouldn't be one to take her away from love, and Jade has always been a responsible person so I don't think I have to worry "ok...if you're sure but be careful" I say, she smiles wide and hugs me
"I will" she says and skips down the steps to Caden. They get in the car together and speed away leaving me alone on the steps.
I get in my car and head home thinking about all the homework I have to do. I finally pull up to my drive way and get out. I unlock the door and walk in the kitchen, my mom is sitting down looking in amazement at the computer.
"Mom?" I say trying to get her attention, when she doesn't look up I try again "mom?"
She looks up a smile big as could be in her face "what is it mom?"
"We're out!" She says happily coming over to me and squeezing me tightly
"We're out of what?" I asks couriousily
"Out of debt!! I don't know how it happened or who did it but I don't care! all of our bills are payed in full even the whole mortgage on this place is payed off and both the cars! And best of all I received and anonymous check for fifteen thousand dollars!" She says excitedly
"Are you serious!! Mom this is amazing! I...I'm speechless!" I say both our eyes filling with tears of joy
We hug and dance and cry for at least thirty minutes so overwhelmed with joy we are unable to contain it "mom I'm going to head to bed" I say a smile still on my face
"Ok honey good night! I love you so much! Things are finally turning around for us!" She says hugging me one last time
"Yes they are" but then I think to the one bad and overly painful thing in my life..Marcus. Honestly if we were together I wouldn't find a single thing in my life that's bad but it's like he is my world and sure this is amazing but I need him to be completely happy. I know that will never happen so I should be happy with what I have now and forget him...the love of my life.
