1607,
Dean's POV

"Father, don't you think this is astonishing?" I said as I came up behind my farther to look at the new world. I placed a hand on his shoulder, and smiled in excitement. I had heard rumours of the new world, and never would have assumed we would be moving there.

"I do, son." He turned and smiled at me, then turned around to the captain. I watched him walk away, balancing on his cane. I signed. I remember when he came home from battle, his knee never fully healed. To be honest I wasn't sure if my father had returned. This man, now, still held my fathers features -- but he wasn't exactly the same. I had later on joined our military to take his place.

I watched as the dark cold waters splashed against our ship. It had been a long journey, and not many of us made it. A illness had taken most of the crew and passengers. I eventually tore my gaze from the waters and headed below deck. I found my little brother, laying in bed with beads of sweat on his face. Like I had said, there was illness and it had captured my dear little brother Sam.

"Sammy," I whispered, wondering if he was awake.

"Dean." He whispered quietly and I couldn't help but smile sadly as I made my way over to him. I kissed his forehead but soon regretted it. He was getting worse. His body looked so fragile, and I could see from his waist and cheekbones that he wasn't getting the proper medicine or nutrients. "It's going to be alright, Sammy. I'll find a way to make you better." I vowed, as I took one of his small hands into my big ones. He was only nine years old. He shouldn't have had to deal with this. He was too young.

He was my little brother. My Sammy.

"Don't call me ... Sammy." He said tiredly. I scoffed, I was glad he had a little fight left in him. He would need it. I petted his hair, and he just growled in disapproval. I smiled, I missed him. "I'll call you what I desire." I paused. "Sammy." With that, I squeezed his hand for one last time and made my way back to the deck.

I found my father arguing with the captain. I just pinched the bridge of my nose before making my way to them.

"Sir John Winchester, there isn't any!" The captain yelled. I saw my fathers face consumed by anger.

Oh no.

I watched as he punched the captain across the face. I immediately ran towards the two, not caring that they were practically on top of each other. Other passengers were looking at them in shock and horror. I was just embarrassed. "Father! Stop it!" I said while trying to pry him off the captain-- who I could see was suffering with a busted lip and bloody nose. He wrapped his arms around the captain as he struggled under my fathers hold. I eventually got a good grip on him and pulled him off the captain who just laid there, coughing and sucking in breath. When my father tried to get up, I pushed him back down and gripped his wrists. I watched as his eyes went from rabid to regret. "What were you thinking?!" I questioned him, as he still struggled underneath me, but I wouldn't let him escape.  He signed. He finally met my gaze-- which was probably furious-- and just stared at me. "Well?" I asked, growing impatient.

"He said there's no cure for Sam." I looked over to the captain, who was being helped up by other passengers. They gave my father death glares. I turned back to him, and then got off him, not even bothering to help him up. Some members of the crew came over to me and padded me on the back for helping the captain, but I just waved them off. I didn't feel good about it, all I could focus on was that there was no cure.

But there had to be, I couldn't let my little brother die. I wouldn't. I sighed in defeat, as I made my way down to Sam's chamber. When I entered his room, he was sitting up and stared at me curiously. "What happened up there?" He asked, putting his book aside. "All I heard were muffled voices and yelling — and then people came running out, "he paused to catch his breath. "I wanted to come to see you, and make sure you were okay." He said the last part weakly and I tried to imagine it as being sympathy. Unfortunately I knew better.

"You've always caring about others when you should be caring about yourself." I smiled at him and got one in return. It had been a while since I had seen him smile and it made hope grow in my heart. "What happened, Dean?" He asked again giving me an innocent look that I could never say no too.

I just sighed as I sat down on his bed side. "It was father. He just didn't," I paused, thinking of the right word choice, "he just didn't agree with the captain." I couldn't help but shake my head, as I smiled to myself. "It was quite ridiculous."

A soft laugh escaped Sam's lips. "I wish I could've see what the other guy looked like." I just shot Sam a curious look. "I'm a lot smarter than you believe, Dean, I know our father and how he is when things don't go his way."

"I suppose." I was just glad Sam still had the attitude he'd always flaunted when he was younger. I knew my brother was quite intelligent for his age, sometimes I even wondered if he was smarter than me. Always reading, constantly learning new things. I knew he would grow up to be quite the gentlemen.

That's if he made it.

I just there, twiddling my thumbs. "Sam," I said as I placed a hand on his shoulder, "I want you to know that everything will be just fine."

"Why're you talking like that Dean?" He mumbled. I just ignored him and hugged him. I couldn't let my little brother see how much his illness was affecting me — how much it was breaking my heart to see him in such agony. I felt his small, weak, arms wraps around me in return.

Our ship had finally reached the dock where the crew was helping the passengers unload their belongings. I couldn't help but inhaled the fresh air and smile. It was a beautiful sight, despite it looking much like England, it was something incredible. Soon, my father ushered us, Sam — who had come on deck. Claimed he didn't want to miss the view. There was a happy feeling in me when we were finally on solid ground. I don't know how much the rocking I could take any longer without getting a little seasick.

I held onto Sam's weak hand as we started walking around the village. We left as our father stayed behind to sign some papers and told the crew where to place our belongings. "Dean?" Sam tugged on my hand.

"Yes, Sammy?" I asked, looking down at him to find sadness in his eyes. This instantly caught my attention. I squatted down to his height with both my hands on his shoulders.

"Please don't leave me with father." He said and a tear escaped his eye. I brushed it away before smiling at him. "I have to leave, Sammy. It was the deal. I promise I will come and visit you when the army no longer needs my assistance." I was avoiding this very moment. Part of the reason as to why my father was able to afford such a travel was because of my position in the army. Surely I was young, but I had shown skills on the battlefield that earned me the position of a General.

"Please come back." Sam croaked as he hugged me, tears falling down his face. I just patted his back before I broke our hug. "Don't worry Sammy, I will do anything for you, even if it cost me my soul." I scoffed at the impossibility. "I will look out for you, Sam. I will. I promise to always be your bother," I got up and messed up his hair "and make sure you get better."

"You promise?" A smile started to form.

"I promise." I said as I took his hand again as we continued walking around. "Plus eventually you'll be the man of the house and find yourself a fine lady to accompany you."

"How many ladies have you found?" He asked, with a hint of humour. I just smirked at him and shook my head. "Plenty, but not the one. I guess I should start looking." Sam just laughed at that with a quiet mumbled about how he couldn't wait till that day. I sighed, as I took in this place. I hoped it would work miracles for Sam. I just hoped we would enjoy ourselves here and make a new life. After a small tour of the loading docks, we eventually heard our names being called, and Sam and I quickly went back to our father.

"We have horses waiting for us at the stables over there." He said pointing at them behind me. "And I suggest we start heading out soon, I've heard nights here can be pretty brutal."

With that, we grabbed our horses and headed out to our new home which was sited not to far from town, but far enough to give us enough land and privacy. Sammy was sitting in front of me on my horse as he played around with the horses mane. He would always laugh when the horse sneezed or made a noise. But every now and then he would cough up blood and hide it in his handkerchief and made sure none of us saw. Unfortunately I did.

The roads were nothing more than rocks and mud thrown together to make a noticeable path. The plants here were very different from back home, but I was already starting to get used to them. A cold breeze had run past us which made me shiver, but I seemed to be the only one affected by it. The ride to our new home wasn't as long as I had anticipated, but when we finally got there, I felt my mouth hang open.

Our home was huge.

"My god ..." I heard my dad whisper, as he too stared up at it in shock. It was made out of stone just like our old house back in England, but it was more stylish and bigger. I couldn't believe it. I felt Sam turn is head away from the horse to see what we had stopped for, i heard him gasp. Our father turned to us and smiled, something I hadn't seen in a while since our moms passing.

"Welcome home boys." He said and led us towards our new home.

I watched Sam fall asleep as I said goodnight to him. I couldn't help the constant worry I had for my little brother. Yes, he had father, but they were never close. They even argued back when Sam was seven. I smiled at the memory. I knew Sam would be successful in his life, by finding a proper lady to bare his children and also having a fancy job title. I on the other hand, only knew how to fight and be a good solider. The men in charge knew I would advance to be even higher on their rankings when I matured.

I made my way to my chambers, which was only one out of seven. The others were for guests and there was a chamber for the servants of our new home. When I entered my room I felt a slight breeze come through the window and went to go shut it, but when I looked outside I saw a dark figure staring up at me with red eyes. I frowned unsure if it was imagination or if it was an animal I was unaware of.

Since when do animals have red eyes? I thought to myself, never letting my eyes leave the figure, well until it started walking towards the house. I panicked and grabbed my dagger, which had been waiting for me on my belongings. I quickly ran down the stairs to the front door and swung it open.

My breath was heavy, and I looked around for the red-eyed figure. Getting my dagger ready, I left my quarters of the new home and walked down the path that led to the dirt road. I tightened my grip on the dagger as I felt sweat trickle down my face. I knew I was probably just overreacting to my new surroundings but I couldn't help but feel nervous nonetheless.

When I reached the road, realizing it was a crossroad, I bottled up some courage. "Is anyone there?" I yelled, while spinning around in a circle. No answer.

Of course there wasn't an answer. I couldn't help but sigh. I was just overreacting — this was just paranoia. I tried to convince myself, but deep down in my gut, I thought otherwise. I was just about to turn around and go back inside, when something sped past me and ripped open my shirt, giving me four claw marks that ran down from my shoulder to the opposite hip. I cried out in pain as I staggered back, completely unprepared. I felt my heart begin to race as my breath seemed to catch in my throat. When I looked down at my chest, something seemed odd about the cuts — they seemed practically familiar. I measured my fingers to the claws and that's when I realized something horrific. It was human.

I clung on to my exposed chest, trying to stop the blood, but it was no use. My breaths started to shorten and I felt fear take over. "Where are you?" I screamed in absolute panic, while stumbling towards the path of my house.

       "Here."

They whispered behind me. It was like anything I had ever heard, as it's venom seeped through its voice. I instantly I swung my dagger in the direction. I groaned in pain at my sudden movement as I felt my cuts ripping wider even more. When I finally was able to compose myself, they were already gone.

Given the opportunity I tried to make a run for my home, but I felt a pair of powerful hands wrap themselves around my shoulders as they pushed me down. It was also then that I noticed I right in the middle of the crossroad.

I started to crawl away from where they were last known. Once I was able to get back on my feet again, I tried to escape. I limped a bit, looking back every so often, only to bump into something. I turned around slowly and red eyes stared downward at me. A small gasp escaped my lips as I stared at the man before me. The monster appeared male, I watched as his lips soon curved in a cruel smile as he recognized my fear.

"Dean Winchester," his smile grew as I felt the colour leave my face at the mention of my name. "My, my, what a pleasure it is to meet you in the," he paused and looked me up and down, "flesh."

"What are you?" I whispered as my heart hammered against my ribs. His smile fell and he started walking around me, in a circle. "I have many names. I personally prefer the one I was given by my father." He stated simply and stopped in his tracks and looked back at me. "Lucifer." His smile returned. I felt my heart stop. Standing in front of me was the most feared monster to ever walk the earth.

      The devil himself.

"No." I said more to myself as I took a step away. I heard him growl as he pulled me by my collar so I was so close to his face. "Yes! And you have something I want." He growled again, which caused a shiver to run down my spine.

"I'm not giving you anything." I hissed. This only made him laugh as he put me down on the road again.

"That little brother of yours, he's quite something special, no?"

"No! Not Sammy!" I lunged at him, but he just only threw me away. I landed on the ground with grunt, my chest wasn't helping in this situation.

"You listen to me, Winchester!" His voice became even darker. "Your brother is something I haven't encountered in a long time." He came over to me, picked me up again and threw against a tree. "What can you possibly offer the Devil that will make me change my mind?" He just laughed mockingly.

      He knew he won.

So I did the very thing I had vowed to Sammy. "My soul!" I yelled.

Before I could take it back, he spun back at me and looked at me with a new set of curiosity. "Your soul?" He asked with excitement.

"Yes." I coughed. I felt a tear fall and I cursed at myself.

"My, you are full of surprises Winchester." He smiled at me and dragged me to the middle of the crossroad. "So many surprises." He mumbled more to himself. "Anything else you would like to add to the bucket?" He was grinning now which made me hate him more.

"You don't touch Sammy, you make sure he gets better. You cure him. And you leave my family alone." He looked taken aback. He screamed out in frustration. He then settled his cold gaze back at me and sighed.

"Dean you are very lucky I'm a man of my word." He said as he flashed his red eyes upon me. "But I will take your offer of your soul, where you will serve me as a warrior, and believe me when I say you will grow to like the killing." I felt sick as he smiled at me. The blood loss was already starting to make me light headed. "There's a war coming Dean, and you will help me win." With that he looked at me, his red eyes staring into my green eyes. "But first in order for you to come to hell with me," he shoved his hand into my chest and gripped my heart. I felt my heart beat in his hand as the breath was sucked out of me.

      "You, Dean Winchester, must die."
