Elena Valeria is a career soldier working in a foreign land. Exiled from her home, she does as ordered by the foreign Queen she serves, protecting her from harm as her Captain of the Guard. One day, however, she is ordered to assist in a rescue mission, helping the Queen's son to over throw the invaders of his home, and freeing his son who is being held for ransom, and nothing is as it seems.
At first, Prince Liran appears to be an arrogant, privileged nobleman, but as she gets to know the man, she realizes there is much more beneath the surface. And the Prince's homeland turns out to be exactly the kind of place Elena has been looking for.
