One thing Blue Sargent had always prided herself on was being a sensible young woman. If anything, her ability to see clearly into problems and solve them quickly and efficiently was gift. It was a special part of her which Blue was happy to say had not come from her mother. Sensibility was one thing that connected Blue to her father more than anything else. Blue looked around, if sensibility was worth power, Blue would be a Queen. So much for The Raven King, what about The Raven Queen? She stifled a laugh-that would be something.
However, when you were currently sitting on a sofa in Monmouth Manufacturing surrounded by three drunk Aglionby boys and one excited ghost boy, even Blue found it difficult to keep a level head. Noah was drifting around the room, a happy grin on his face, as he muttered, what sounded to Blue, like glitter.
Adam and Ronan were lazing on the leather sofa opposite Blue, one at either end, feet touching. Ronan was picking at the leather sofa distastefully; it was the same colour as the Pig. Gansey was at the other end of the room, near the unused pool table, fiddling with the stereo. Suddenly the music blared and Blue recognised the song; Budapest by George Ezra. Ronan grinned lopsidedly, "You fucking joking me, Gansey. Ezra?"
"What?" Said Gansey standing up from his crouch, "This song is amazing!"
He lifted his hands up and took a step forward so he looked like he was an opera singer. Blue rolled her eyes as he started to sing in an off key voice:
"My many artefacts,
The list goes on,
If you just say the words,
I'll, I'll up and run."
Chainsaw chirped, disgruntled, at flew off Ronan's shoulder. She soared around low ceiling before landing on the pool table. Ronan's grin widened as Chainsaw decided to attack the green baize, her talons clawing at it viscously.
"Ronan, can't you control that bird of yours?" Giggled Gansey much to Blue's surprise and amusement. She had never heard Dick Gansey Campbell the III giggle before. Blue made a mental note to burn all the alcohol in cooling box next to the door as soon as possible.
"Dick, when have I or Chainsaw done anything rash or irresponsible?"
Gansey was not too pleased about this comment. He swayed towards the sofa Blue was perched on and sat down. Leaning over, he whispered loudly into her ear: "I keep a list. It's alphabetised."
His hot breath tickled her cheek and Blue flushed. Ronan had heard Gansey's remark and Blue laughed as he grinned wickedly in their direction.
Noah came and sat between Blue and Gansey, which for one, Blue was very happy about. It unnerved her how just the heat of Gansey's breath, his touch could make her body become static with adrenaline. Blue allowed Noah to pat her spiky hair: "Its not as spiky as usual." He murmured.
"That comes with lack of sleep and living with five other crazy woman, I afraid." Said Blue and Noah smiled.
