Kurami yawned as her alarm woke her up, blaring loudly. With a sigh, she turned the annoying device off and rolled out of her comfortable, warm bed reluctantly. Kurami stumbled over to the window, blearily rubbing her eyes, and opened the thick curtains.
Blinding sunlight streamed into the room, lighting up every nook and cranny. Kurami smiled as she looked outside over the village, it looked beautiful in the early morning and she had to admit that she missed the sight. She then remembered that she was taking Naruto shopping today. With an excited smile, she bounded out of her room and made her way to Naruto's. She knocked gently on the door and when she received no answer, she pushed it open.
Kurami was met with the sight of her brother sprawled on his bed, hanging half off and snoring loudly. She stifled her laughter and made her way over to him.
"Naruto, wake up sweetie," she cooed in his ear.
Not even a twitch. She started to poke him and still, nothing. Pouting, she put her mouth next to her brother's ear. "WAKE UP!" She yelled loudly.
Naruto shot up, his eyes wide, and then promptly fell off his bed. Kurami gasped and hurried to his side. "I'm so sorry Naruto, are you ok?" She asked in worry.
Her brother who had been rubbing his head dazedly looked up at his sister and smiled. "I'm alright nee-chan and good morning."
Kurami smiled back, relieved. "Good morning sweetie. Now go and brush your teeth, we're going shopping."
Naruto nodded then left the room and Kurami quickly made his bed neatly before going to her own room to change clothes. Half an hour later, after a quick breakfast, the siblings left the house. Kurami grasped her brother's hand as they walked through the bustling village, ignoring the shocked whispers and stares. Naruto kept his head down in shame which made her frown. She knelt down and engulfed him in a hug.
"Naruto, I love you and I am not ashamed to be seen with you, my precious little brother. So keep your head up and ignore what people say or do, their opinions will change in time so don't bother about them for now. Just stay by my side and I will never let anything happen to you." Kurami promised , looking into her brother's eyes seriously.
Naruto sniffled before smiling at her. "Thanks nee-chan."
They carried on walking and ignored everyone else. Soon, they reached a clothes shop and Kurami ushered Naruto inside. A small bell jingled as they opened the door and an old lady at the back of the shop looked up.
"Kurami dear, is that you?"
Kurami smiled and went to hug the lady. "Akane, it's been a while."
"Five years to be exact. Where have you been?" The old lady, with graying brown hair and bright green eyes, asked inquisitively.
Kurami chuckled good naturedly. "I've been away on a training mission for the past few years, but now I'm back. Anyway, I'm here to get some clothes for me and my brother here. "
Gently, she nudged Naruto forward and he shyly greeted Akane. "Hello ma'am, my name-" he was abruptly cut off when the older lady pulled him into a hug.
"Oh sweetheart, no need for formalities, I already know who you are, just give this old lady a hug."
Naruto complied, happy that she wasn't mean like the other villagers were to him. She was very kind and her eyes were warm. Akane treated him like a normal person which made him feel grateful. "Now dearies, go and get whatever you want."
Kurami smiled and led Naruto to the boys clothing. She browsed through it until her eyes caught on the clothes at the back. They were perfect. There was an orange shirt with a large black symbol of the leaf in the middle, black trousers and a black jacket with an orange zip, hood and sleeves. She held the clothes up and asked Naruto if he liked it. He nodded his head excitedly and went off to try them on, so Kurami continued to look for some more clothes for him. She picked out a white shirt with a red swirl on the front, a couple more orange shirts with different designs on them, more trousers and a couple of different jackets. She also picked out some pajamas, socks and underwear. Kurami took the clothes and gave them to Naruto, who was in the changing rooms, to try on. She then proceeded to look for some clothes of her own.
After browsing through some clothes, she had picked out a navy blue shirt with silver flowers on it, black trousers and a long black cloak with silver fire crawling along the hems. She picked out some more similar clothes and tried them all on. They fit perfectly. Happily, Kurami grabbed all the clothes and waited patiently for Naruto to finish trying on all his clothes. After a couple of minutes, he came out. "Nee-chan, the clothes all fit me and I really like them."
"Then we'll buy them all." Kurami declared with a smile.
"Are you sure? You don't have to buy me all of this." Naruto said sadly and looked down at the floor.
Kurami frowned and put a finger under his chin, lifting his head up so he met her gaze. "I don't have to buy you this Naruto, I want to. You are my little brother and as long as you are happy, I don't care if I spend every penny I have on you. I would do anything for you because you are my sweet little brother, so never say that again. You are worth more to me than anything else in this world and I would be happy to buy these clothes for you. There is no need for you to worry about such things like this anyway since we have more than enough money, thanks to our parents and my missions."
Naruto's eyes filled with tears but he held them back and just hugged his sister, thankful that such a wonderful person cared and loved him enough to do anything for him. He felt so blessed.
"Now, how about we go buy our clothes?" Kurami took her brothers clothes and they both went to the till where Akane was waiting for them. After they bought the clothes, they hugged Akane goodbye and left the shop. It was around midday and the sun was high in he sky.
"Naruto, would you like to eat?" Kurami asked her brother.
The growl from his stomach was all the answer she needed. With a laugh, she guided her brother to her favourite ramen stand and they both ordered a bowl. Some time later, there were two mountains of bowls on the table and both Kurami and Naruto leaned back in their chairs. "That hit the spot," Kurami laughed, patting her stomach. Naruto just nodded, too full to say anything else.
Kurami smiled fondly at her brother. Looks like he had their mother's and her appetite. She took out her silver wolf purse and paid for their meal. "Thanks for the food Teuchi-san." She said over her shoulder as she grabbed the bags in one hand and Naruto's hand in the other.
Together, they were walking back home on a less busier street when Kurami heard the sound of several kunai whistling towards them through the air. As quick as lightning, she reached into her weapons pouch attached to her belt and spun around to deflect the oncoming weapons with a single kunai, at the same time shoving Naruto and the bags behind her. The deflected kunai all clattered to the ground at her feet and she looked at the attackers. A mixed group of leaf genins and chunins, ten in total, crowded the way back, smirking sinisterly.
"Who are you?" Kurami demanded, angry that they had dared to harm her and her little brother.
"Your worst nightmare girl," the apparent leader of the group, slightly larger than the others, spat out scathingly.
Kurami raised an eyebrow in disbelief before laughing mockingly. "My worst nightmare?" She repeated. "Don't make me laugh. Now, why are you attacking us?"
"Shut up, girl! We're here to get rid of that monster behind you. If you stand in our way, we will just kill you too. Now move!" The leader, Kurami decided to name him 'the idiot' for now, shouted before launching forward. His hands moved quickly as he made the correct signs for his jutsu. "Earth release: Bedrock coffin!"
Giant rocks rose out of the ground and surrounded Kurami amd Naruto.
They closed in on the siblings and Naruto whimpered, grabbing the back of his sister's shirt in fear. Kurami used the hand that didn't hold the kunai and placed it on Naruto's head reassuringly. "Don't worry Naru-kun, I will always protect you." She promised.
Naruto looked at his sister's determined purple eyes and, after a couple of seconds, nodded. The walls of stone continued to move closer and just before they completely closed over Naruto and Kurami, her eyes turned a luminous silver with a royal purple star in each of the black pupils, the Akuma clan's doujutsu. The stone walls crashed together, shaking the earth from the force, and attracting nearby ninja and civilians.
"What's going on?" The villagers started to crowd the ten ninjas who were at the scene.
"Heh, we finally got rid of that monster and some random girl with him." The leader gloated.
The third hokage, flanked by anbu, walked towards the leader, the crowd splitting in half silently for him. "What have you done?" He asked, his eyes as cold as ice. The leader gulped and shrank back from the powerful glare he was receiving from the hokage.
"I-I just g-got rid of the p-problem in our village h-hokage-sama."
The hokage just shook his head disappointedly and raised his arm. Immediately, ninjas flashed in front of the group of ten and detained them.
"I hereby declare you to be criminals for breaking several laws. Firstly, for attacking with the intent to kill, without being provoked. Secondly, for attacking a fellow ninja of the leaf, who may I add, is the head of three powerful clans, and thirdly, for attacking an underage civilian who is also from two of those clans. You will be detained until further notice." The hokage stated, his voice cutting through the air like a knife.
"It doesn't matter, I killed those stupid freaks, they-" A large rumbling cut the leader off mid-sentence.
The stone walls that were crushed together started shaking violently and everyone quickly moved away fearfully. The walls suddenly burst apart, crashing to the floor loudly and raising clouds of dust. Everyone gaped in shock as the dust settled. A shimmering blue barrier covered two figures. The smaller figure was Naruto huddled to the floor and the taller one was Kurami. She was a sight to see. Her long black hair danced behind her majestically and a silvery light surrounded her body, giving her an etheral look. She was glaring directly at the leader, and before anyone could even blink, she was in front of him, a silver streak blazing behind her from the speed she travelled at. "Your worst nightmare has only just begun," she whispered in his ear and with that, the purple star in her pupils started spinning round and round, expanding over her silver irises. The leader looked into her eyes and was cast into a fearsome genjutsu, he fell unconscious, but almost immediately started screaming in horror and pain.
Kurami turned to face the other nine ninjas who had attacked her and Naruto. They shrank back, terrified. "Never ever try to hurt my little brother again!" She snarled, her eyes flashed dangerously and they too, were cast away to their worst nightmares.
Kurami then turned to the shocked crowd. "Yes, I am Kurami Akuma Namikaze, Konoha's Guardian Angel and the head of the Akuma, Uzumaki and Namikaze clans, and yes, I am back. I swore I would protect everyone in Konoha who is loyal to the hokage, and I will, but mess with someone I love," she laid her hand on Naruto's head whilst he hugged her leg, "and not even hell can save you from my wrath. That...is a promise." Her eyes flashed threateningly before fading back to normal.
