It's a Break Up

We were best friends from the start,
But you never knew you had my heart.
At first we were friends, and then we dated,
But since you left my hearts been jaded.
I enjoyed my time with you.
But they you said we were through.

You have my heart now,
To take care of somehow.
I left my heart to you,
So don't find someone new.
You'll always have that piece of me,
To keep as a memory.

I hoped you'd never leave.
But you've done that it seems.
So here's to a life without me,
What a journey that will be.
When the trees grow old, and it starts to rain,
I hope I'll have you again to heal my pain.
