"Jade, wake up, it's our first day!" My younger twin yelled through my bedroom door. "I'm awake!" I yelled back.
I got up from my bed and hopped in the shower. When I got out, I dried off, then put on blue skinny jeans and a red tank top, and slipped on my black, knee length, leather, high-heeled boots and a leather jacket.
Me and Elena had our differences. Elena was a caring, nice, too serious goody two shoes. While I was a reckless, sarcastic troublemaker, who got detention. Elena had straight hair with brown eyes, and I have curly hair and golden, kinda of a honey color, eyes. And also, I am a witch. But my family doesn't know.
I developed my powers when I was thirteen. I knew something was wrong with me but I couldn't tell my parents because I was scared they would see me as a freak. One night, I had a dream. I was in the woods inside an old abandoned house and someone was there. She said her name was Emily. She told me to talk with Sheila Bennett, my best friend, Bonnie's Grams. So that's what I did. She gave me one of her grimoires and taught me how to use and control my powers. She said my powers are stronger than hers now.
I walked out of my bedroom and went down the stairs.
"Toast, I can make toast." Jenna said, and I walked over to the coffee maker.
"It's all about the coffee Aunt Jenna." I said.
"Anybody need lunch money?" Jenna asked.
"No, I'm good." Elena said and I went and grabbed the money out of her hand and so did Jeremy.
"A number two pencil?" Jenna asked.
"Don't you have a meeting?" I asked.
"I'm meeting with my thesis adviser.....now. Crap!" Jenna exclaimed.
"Go, we'll be fine." Elena said.
"Are you sure?" Jenna asked.
"Yes! Go already!" I said.
"Do you want a ride with me and Bonnie?" Elena asked me.
"No, I have my own car, remember?" I said smiling.
"Why did you get one and I didn't?" Elena pouted.
"Well, don't forget, I'm older." I smiled.
"Yeah, by 2 minutes!" She said, frowning, and walked out the door.
I grabbed my keys and walked out to my red truck. Well, Elena always got everything, and my parents knew how I felt so they got me something she doesn't have.
I was always in Elena's shadow. I liked Matt first. He was my first kiss. I told Elena about it and the next day, she asked him out. But I'm over it now, it was years ago. She'll always be everyone's first pick. She'll always be the golden twin, the smarter, prettier and more involved twin. Now that I think about it all my friends are Elena's friends.
I pulled up to the school parking lot and parked my truck. I walked through the double doors and walked to Bonnie's locker and started talking to her and Elena.
"Hey, guys." I said and smiled.
"Hey, Jaedyn, how are you doing?" Bon asked me.
"I'm great." I said.
I knew Mom and Dad would want me to be happy and move on, so that's what I am and doing. I've accepted it. There's nothing I can do. They are dead and they are in a better place, so I won't be bummed out about it like Elena and Jeremy.
Elena looked over at Matt and said, "He hates me."
"He doesn't hate you. That's the 'You dumped me, but I'm too cool to show it and I'm secretly listening to Air Supply's greatest hits'." Bonnie said.
Caroline ran up to us and gave us both a huge hug. "Omg, how are you two? How are they? Are they good?" She asked Bon.
"Care, we're right here." Elena said.
"And we're fine." I finished.
"Oh, poor things," Caroline said and gave us another hug.
"I gotta get to class," I say and walk off.
I started walking and someone bumped into me. "Hey, watch it!" I said annoyed.
"Oh, sorry. Hi, I'm Stefan." Whew, he was H-O-T, hot!
"Hi, I'm Jaedyn, but you can call me Jade." I say and smile.
He extends his hand and I shake it, but I pull away immediately and my smile fades. His touch made my body go cold.
Grams said that's how you can tell difference between vampire and human. He was a vampire.
"Um, I gotta go. I'll talk to you later, possibly. Bye." I ran away to Tanner's classroom.
"How many casualties were in the Battle of Willow Creek?" Tanner asked, "Ms. Bennett?"
Bonnie answered, "I don't know, a lot. Like, a whole lot." People in the class started snickering, including me.
"Cute becomes dumb in an instant, Ms. Bennett." Tanner said, "What about you, Mr. Donovan? Want to overcome your embedded jock stereotype?"
"I'm alright, Mr. Tanner, I'm cool with it." Matt smiled.
"Ms. Gilbert?" He asked, looking at Elena.
"I'm sorry, I- I don't know.." Elena said.
"I was going easy on you two last year for obvious reasons, but I'm not going to be as lenient this year." Tanner said.
My eyes teared up, that really got my blood boiling. "How can you say that?" I nearly yelled.
Everyone was staring at me and Tanner just stood there.
I grabbed my bag and notebook walked up to his desk and swiped everything onto the floor.
"MS. GILBERT!!" Tanner roared.
"Never talk to my sister that way, dick!"
I ran out of the classroom and through the hallway.
I heard Tanner yell, "Gilbert, get back here this instant!"
I kept running until I got to my truck. I guess I will skip the rest of the day.

I was sitting by my parents' graves, reading.
I wonder how many vampires are here. Is it just Stefan?
Suddenly, a crow swooped down and landed on Dad's headstone. I swatted my hand at it and said, "Shoo! Go on!" It flew away.
Fog surrounded my ankles. This is getting weird. I then saw a man watching me from a distance. I can take care of some serial killer.
I walked towards the figure and held up my hand, picturing him on the ground, gripping his head. So that's what happened.
He started groaning and dropped to the ground. I was giving him an aneurysm and he wasn't dead yet, so he's a vampire.
He had raven black hair. He was wearing all black.
I let my hand drop and he said, "You never told me you were a vampire and a witch, Juliana." He said in a strained voice. Juliana? Who the hell is Juliana?
"My name is not Juliana. It's Jaedyn. What are you doing in Mystic Falls?" I asked, with venom in my voice. He just looked confused. Then he sped away. Who was that?
I started running back to my truck, but then I tripped over a root and fell to the ground. I got on my knees and saw a pair of legs. I looked up and was met with the face of Stefan.
"Are you okay?" He asked as if he actually cared.
"Why do you care, vampire?" I asked and glared. He looked shocked and surprised.
"What are you talking about?"
"You know what I'm talking about," I said, and started to walk away, but Stefan grabbed my arm. I looked at him with a death stare. "If you know what's best for you, I would let me go."
He asked with pleading eyes, "Please, let me explain."
I sighed.
"Come on," I said and walked back to my truck.
I sat in the driver's seat, Stefan in the passenger. We sat in silence for a few moments.
"So, explain." I said, "Start to finish."
He looked at me and sighed, "You may not like all of it," He said.
"I can take it. Go on," I said and gestured with my hand.
"Well, I was born in 1847. Then in April of 1864 when I turned 17, two sisters, twins, came to our town and stayed with us. Their names were Juliana and Katherine."
"Wait, did you just say Juliana?" I asked, remembering the vampire in the woods.
"Yeah, why?" He asked, looking confused.
"Do you know anyone with black hair and would wear all black? Also a vampire?" I asked him.
His eyes widened and said, "Yeah, as a matter of fact I do."
"He called me Juliana. Who is he?" I asked.
"My brother. Back to the story," He sighed,
"They were both vampires and they were posing as girls whose family died in a fire from Atlanta and were looking for shelter. They stayed with us. Me and my brother fell in love with them. But they were compelling us not to tell their secret. And also they were switching with me and Damon. Katherine would be with me one night and Juliana the next. Same with Damon. We wanted both of them for ourselves. My father and the council were looking for them and I thought my father would understand that I loved them and would help keep them safe. He gave me vervain in my drink that night and when Katherine fed on me, it poisoned her and they took her away. And Juliana. We tried to save them, but we were shot. But we were drinking their blood. If you die with vampire blood in your system, you transition into one when you feed. I forced my brother to feed because I did not want to be alone for eternity. He hates me for getting them caught. They burned in the church. He promised me an eternity of misery. That is why he is here. And earlier wasn't the first time we met," He said and I cut him off.
"What do you mean?"
"I first saw you on May 23, 2009. The day of the car crash. I was in the woods when it happened. I was fast getting there, but not fast enough. The car had already submerged. Your dad was still conscious. I tried to get him, but he wouldn't let me until I got you. I went back down, but they were gone." He said.
I was sobbing by this point.
"I am so sorry, Jade. But one more thing. Or two. You, Elena, Juliana, and Katherine look exactly the same. You are all doppelgangers. That is why I stayed. To find out if you two were the twins, but you weren't. I didn't understand the connection, you guys were Gilberts and they were Pierces, so I did some digging. There was no record of your mother ever being admitted. She was never pregnant. You and Elena were adopted. I'm sorry for you finding out like this." He hugged me.
I smiled. He hugged me. I pulled away and looked in his eyes. "Thanks, Stefan. I guess I was wrong. I thought all vampires were bad. But you are not. I actually consider you a friend." I smiled.
"You're welcome. And yeah, I don't do human. I hunt animals. And you are a friend of mine, too. You can talk to me about anything." He said.
"Wanna go to the Grill?" I asked, "I'm supposed to meet Elena and her friends there at.." I checked my phone. 5:00. "Now, crap." I put the truck in drive and pulled onto the road.
"Sure." Said Stefan. I drove to the Grill.
We walked into the Grill together. I looked for Elena and saw her sitting with Bonnie, and Caroline was playing pool with Tyler. I stood there with Stefan, and Elena looked shocked and surprised. A little jealous maybe?
Matt came up and said to Stefan, "Hey, I'm Matt. Nice to meet you." Holding out his hand.
Stefan grabbed and shook it and said, "Hi. Stefan." And then Matt walked away. Yeah he doesn't really talk to me because he feels guilty about going out with Elena after we kissed.
We walked over to the table with Elena and Bonnie and sat down next to each other.
He accidentally touched my hand, looked at me and said, "Sorry."
"No don't be." I said and grabbed his hand under the table.
He looked at me and smiled, and so did I. You could tell I was making a move but I don't care. I think I am starting to like him.
"Ahem." Elena cleared her throat. I rolled my eyes. Me and Stefan's hands were still locked.
Caroline came and sat and started interrogating him. "So, were you born in Mystic Falls?" She asked.
"Mm-hmm. And moved while I was still young." He answered. It must be hard not being able to tell people about yourself without twisting the truth. I'm glad he told me.
"Parents?" She asked.
"My parents passed away." He answered.
Elena reached over and gripped his shoulder, "I'm sorry. Any siblings?" She changed the subject.
"None that I talk to. I live with my uncle." He said.
"So, Stefan," Caroline decided to speak up, "If you're new, then you don't know about the party tomorrow."
"It's a back to school thing at the falls." Bonnie explained.
He looked over at me and asked, "Are you going?"
I opened my mouth to speak, but Elena beat me to it.
"No, she can't, she's busy tomorrow. But I will be there." Elena smiled too wide.
I opened my mouth to snap back but, yet again, I was beat to it.
"I was asking Jaedyn. Not you. I'm interested in the other twin. Not everything is about you, Elena. So do us all a favor and stop acting so desperate." Stefan snapped.
Elena's face was priceless. I had to cover my mouth to stifle my giggles.
She looked over at me and said, "You are just going to let him talk to me that way?!" She asked angrily.
"Well, it's the truth. You are an attention seeker. Every time I get the spotlight, you have to take it. Every boyfriend I have you have to take. You took Matt. You are not taking Stefan." I turned to Stefan, "And to answer your question, yes I am going. Let's go." I grabbed his hand and went outside.
We got into my truck and I sighed and said, "I'm sorry about her. She is like this with every boy she sees me with." I chuckled.
"No don't apologize. And I meant what I said, I'm interested in you." He smiled.
I smiled too, "Really? That is a coincidence, because I am interested in you, too." I giggled.
I didn't notice that started to lean his face closer. So I did, too. Until out lips touched. We kissed for a few seconds and he pulled away.
"That was nice." I giggled again.
"It was." He smiled. "We should hang out again sometime." He suggested.
"Okay. Do you want me to drop you off?" I asked.
"Yeah, thanks." He said.
I drove to the boarding house and dropped him off.
"Bye, Stefan. Goodnight." I said. He got out and walked over to my window and gave me another kiss. I smiled through it.
"Goodnight." He whispered and went inside. I sat there for a moment and felt my lips with my fingers. That was nice. Really nice. I drove off with a smile on my face.
I got back to the house and Elena was waiting for me in my room.
"What the hell was that?!" She yelled.
"It's how I've felt ever since we were kids. Stefan was right. You are desperate. And back off Stefan, too. I think we might have something and I don't want you to screw it up for once!" I yelled back.
She then slapped me across the face. I growled and the lights started flickering.
I slapped her back with two times more force. Man was I angry.
"I need to go cool off." I said and ran into the woods.
I was striking trees with my magic making them fall. I kept going until I heard a scream. I ran to it's source. I gasped as I saw a bloody man under a tree.
Oh no.
I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my stomach and a scorching heat came over me. I screamed and it went away in a couple seconds. I checked on the man and found no pulse.
Oh my god.
I killed him. I killed an innocent man.
Why did my stomach hurt that way? I should just sleep it off. I did not want to go back into that house so, screw it, I'll sleep out here.
I've done it before. I lied down next to an undamaged tree and got into a comfortable position and fell asleep quickly.
