Lauren/You - Just An Innocent - Chapter 4
The next morning, my eyes shot open as I felt the weight shift on my bed and light strokes on my cheeks. I grabbed the hand of the person forcefully, having been in this situation way too much and knowing what usually happens after but when my eyes adjusted to the light and I saw the person looking at me with fear and confusion in their eyes, I immediately relaxed.
"Sarah?" I called as I let go of her wrist.
"I'm sorry. I knocked but I didn't hear you answer so I came in." She explained and I just looked at her, hating myself for the fear I could see in her eyes.
"It's okay. I rarely sleep but when I do I'm the heaviest sleeper you'll ever find." I tried to joke and as I heard her giggle I knew it had worked. But soon silence fell on us again and she somehow looked nervous. "What's going on?" I asked grabbing her hand softly.
"Nothing. Today's a school day so I'm in a bad mood that's all." She stated but hey, I may not have seen my little sister in 2 years, I still knew her better than I knew myself.
"Sarah..." I said, a demanding tone on my voice.
"It's out." She said tears filling her eyes as her bottom lip started shaking showing she was trying to prevent herself from sobbing. "The secret's out. People know you're back in town." She stated and my eyes widened slightly. I knew now why she was crying. She knew that would mean that I would have to face a lot of shit from the people at school and she would see all of it since she was going to high school as well. First day as a sophomore for her. I just looked at her seeing the worry in her face and I smiled which made her frown.
"We knew it would happen eventually so why are you crying?" I asked gently trying not to let my own worry show.
"I know how much these people hate you. I wanted to have at least a few hours of peace before you'd have to face their shit." She explained and I just sighed, wishing I did have those few hours but knowing that it wouldn't happen.
"Its okay." I answered and I was about to hug her but she stood up abruptly.
"I'm not going to lose you again." She stated, partly yelling.
"What?"
"I'm not stupid. You're on probation. If you do anything, punch someone or even bump their shoulder, you'll go back in jail and I don't know if I can handle it." She stated, tears in her eyes, and my eyes softened as realization hit me.
"Don't worry. I can control myself." I tried a soft smile grazing my lips.
"Oh yeah because that was so obvious the other morning!" She exclaimed sarcastically and I looked down, knowing that she had been told about my little episode in the house's garage.
"Listen," I said getting up and walked to her. "I won't do anything stupid. Even though i know they'll ask for it, I'll keep my mouth shut and my fists to myself. Okay?" I said grabbing her shoulders.
"You promise?" she asked unsure, worry and fear on her features and I couldn't help but feel broken hearted at the sight.
"I promise." I said confidently. She just smiled before I wrapped my arms around her.
"Now get out of here. I gotta get ready." I stated and she complied.

The walk to the high school was pretty sure. Lauren and Taylor were walking ahead, a few meters in front of us, while Chris, Sarah and I were behind. Chris and I had bonded and he was now what I could consider a friend although my trust issues made it quite hard for me to trust him fully. Lauren hadn't talked to me, she just nodded her head in acknowledgment when she saw me as if that was her way to greet and that was all. I could feel her eyes on me every now and then but I shrugged it off most of the time, forcing myself not to meet her gaze. She wanted me to stay away and that was what I was going to do. I stopped abruptly when I noticed how close we were to the high school making the other to stop along with me even Lauren and Taylor.
"What's wrong?" Chris asked me as I stated at the building and the mass of people that was coming in and out the building and standing in front of it.
"You should go in first." I stated making them frown. I sigh and looked at Sarah. "If you get in there with me by your side, people will..." I stopped and my eyes fell on Lauren who was looking at me intently. "People will hate you because of me." Lauren seemed to have realized that I was making an allusion to how she had lost her best friend because of me and her eyes showed an extreme tenderness which only made me weak. "I don't want that." I said turning my attention to the others. "So you go in there alone. And I'll follow after." I declared. Chris was about to argue but Taylor just grabbed him by the arm and led him to the building. My eyes fell on Lauren once more and she looked at me apologetically before shaking her head and walking away, thing I had totally expected from her but felt disappointment as she didn't even try to argue. I looked at Sarah and waited for her to go but she just grabbed my hand, giving me a reassuring smile.
"You're more important than them to me. I'd rather have them hate me than turning my back on you." She stated and I smiled, knowing that no matter what she would always be there and I love that, I love that I still had someone to rely on when the world hated me. "Let's go then."

Have you ever felt like you were some kind of disgusting person with an awful disease, walked into a room and felt everyone's glares on, everyone's eyes filled with hatred and disgust? Well I have. As soon as I set my foot in the building, Sarah by my side, I felt it, like I was the public enemy number 1. I had settled on not hiding my face anymore and that just made everything worse, maybe i should've put on a hood. I would've gotten a shield but I didn't. I hated that everyone was looking at me but there was nothing I could do to make them stop, that's what I thought at least because when my gaze fell on a girl who was eyeing me with disgust, I sent her a death glare, the most threatening look I had and she immediately looked away. I was going to smirk but I felt Sarah's hand squeezing mine and when I met her gaze I only saw disapproval.
"Whatever mom." I whispered causing her to laugh.
"You have to go the principal first. I'll wait for you in front of the office okay?" She added when we agreed on ignoring those people.
The meeting with the principal went pretty well although I could feel his disgust in the way he looked at me but then again, that was nothin I wasn't used to. Unfortunately I had to part ways with Sar' cause she wasn't in any of my classes, which was pretty normal. What was even more unfortunate was that as soon as I walked in my first class which was supposed to be a stupid history class, my eyes fell on none other than Lauren Jauregui. She looked away instantly and focus on the board in front of her. I walked down the room to sit at a desk in the back but someone kick my leg and I almost fell to the floor. I clenched my jaw before looking at the guy who had done it, anger emanating from every single one of my pores.
"What? You're gonna send me to the hospital too?" He stated causing everyone to laugh including Lauren.
"If I were you I wouldn't piss someone who almost killed a dude. Who knows? You may be the next on their list." I shot causing the asshole's eyes to widen in fear. A smirk on my lips I sat down and just started scratching some stuff on my notebook. I was going to keep drawing when I felt a hand on my shoulder and someone breathe really close to my ear.
"Enjoy the day. It's your last one on earth." She had said before disappearing through the door again, not giving me the time to see her face. To be honest I had expected stuff like that to happen but I just shrugged it off. The whole day was like that. I walked into a classroom, sat down and drew. That's all I could do to take my mind off of the stares and the hatred I could feel directed to me at every single second of the day. I visited the surrounding of the school during lunch and noticed a small park with a secluded area that would allow me to escape for future lunches, not that I didn't want to have lunch with Sarah and Chris but let's be honest if eating alone meant I wouldn't have to have to bear the stares then I was definitely gonna do it. At the end of the day I was waiting for the whole family to join me in front of the school so that we would go home. Lo was already here talking to her friends, of course she wouldn't want to be seen with me. That's when I felt it, the strident pain in my back and I let myself fall to the floor groaning.
"You made my brother's life hell. I'm gonna do the same to you." The voice had said through gritted teeth. I looked up to see her holding a baseball bat, which explained the pain in my back. I looked up to the see the girl holding it, surrounded by a few dudes.
"I guess you're Ally then." I stated getting back up without too much trouble despite the pain in my back. I had been through worse. My eyes fell on Lauren unconsciously but she was just looking at me, she hadn't moved from her spot and I didn't think she would even if my life depended on it. I knew she wasn't going to try and defend me, not that i needed her but, hoping deep down that she would stick up for me. I didn't need to say that that hurt and it only made me angry.
"You ruined his fucking life!" I heard making me look at the girl, hatred coming from my mind.
"He asked for it." I stated looking at her dead in the eyes which only caused her to get even more mad.
"My brother was a great person! He never did anything to deserve what you did to him!" She yelled angrily. As I heard her words, I couldn't stop but start giggling and soon laughing out loud which only made her frown.
"Why the fuck are you laughing?" She said through gritted teeth.
"I'm just...It's just I don't know whether you're stupid or cute." I said unable to tame my laughter. "Believing that your brother is a little angel? Seriously? I'm settling on stupid cause your fucking brother was a monster!" I yelled my anger getting the best out of me and she just looked at me as if she could already picture herself killing me. And that's when it happened. It was so fast that I didn't even get the time to react but I could feel it. Her baseball bat had hit my jaw, hard throwing me to the floor again. From then, the kicks and hits didn't stop. In my ribs and my legs. I could have gotten up and kicked her ass but I had promised to my sister that I wouldn't fight so I curled in a ball and let them hit. My eyes found Lauren's form again, and although I could definitely see the Terror in her eyes she didn't seem like she was going to intervene. And then I heard a voice, a voice I was extremely happy to hear.
"STOP! WHAT THE FUCK!" I heard and soon the kicking had died down and I could hear people yelling still, arguing with Ally and her little friends.
"Hey Y/N look at me." I heard and looked at the girl sitting in front of me. "You're gonna be okay." She said and although I had no idea who she was I believed her.
"I'm here babe. I'm here." I heard from behind me and recognized Sarah's voice.
"Let's take her to the hospital." The tall tan girl said and I was quick to react this time.
"No. No hospital. Just take me home." They tried to argue but Chris who had been the one yelling at Ally had already carried me in his arms and started walking towards the house. I looked up only to see Lauren following us closely, her head down, and when she glanced at me I could have sworn I saw tears in her eyes.
A/N: I'm going to Algeria in a week which means I won't have any internet connection sooo no updates for a few weeks. But I'll be writing while I'm there and I'll update as soon as I come back. I'll try to update as many chapters as I can until then. Love you.
