CHAPTER EIGHT

I heard the alarm going on my phone, so I tried to find it on my bedside table. My hands hit my iPhone and I hit snooze. I snuggled back under my covers and Williams pressed his chest against my back. "You need to get up." I told him sleepily.

"Five more minutes," he said just as sleepily if not more.

"No because you need to get home. We've got school today," he groaned sending vibrations through my back.

"Can we not just call in sick?" I smiled but shook my head.

"No I need to go to school; I have exams in a few months and I need to go to school to pass them."

"I know when I leave you're just going to go back to sleep and not get up for another half hour." I rolled onto my back, causing his arm to lie across my stomach.

"Because you need to get up earlier so you can go home. Now go," I said pushing him away. He captured my hand in his and laid it on his bare chest.

"Five more minutes then I'll go." I placed my head in the crook of his neck slowly falling back to sleep.

"Fine, but I'm not waking you." He mumbled a response before I fell asleep again.

"Rachel are you up?" I heard Xavier yell through my door.

"Yeah," I replied simply.

"Well I'm leaving in half an hour if you want a lift." I felt an arm tighten around me, and the scent that I was getting used to fill my nose. I opened my eyes as I turned around, and saw Williams' sleeping face.

"Williams you need to get up. You said half an hour ago you would get up." He groaned and pulled me closer to his chest.

"Okay, but you're getting up too." I got out of bed and walked into my bathroom. I washed my face and brushed my teeth, before letting my hair loose from my ponytail. I fixed my hair before I walked back into my bedroom. I saw Williams was still in bed, so I pulled the covers off of him.

"Come on get up," I said before getting some clothes. I walked back into the bathroom and quickly got changed. Today was a non-uniform day for charity, so I decided to wear grey skinny jeans and a plaid shirt. I threw my dirty clothes into my basket and walked out. I saw Williams stand up from my bed and stretch, and I could se the top of his boxers. I walked over to him, still curious about his scar. I trailed my fingers along it, keeping my eyes in it. "When did he do this?" I asked making him sigh.

"Last year, around New Years."

"I still can't believe he did that to you. It's like I don't know him." He sighed and places his hands on my arms.

"Sit down for a second," he sat on the bed and pulled me with him. "I know it seems like you don't know him, but that only ever happened the once. He's never been like that since." He sighed and angled his body towards mine. "Listen, I-"

"Rachel I'm leaving. You've got two minutes!" Xavier shouted.

"Yeah I'm coming!" Williams sighed and brushed my hair behind my ears.

"Can we finish this later? It's important." He asked while stroking my hand.

"Yeah, okay."

"My room, after school?" I nodded and smiled at him.

"Right now go," he laughed and stood up. He lifted his shirt from the ground and pulled it over his head. He slipped on his shoes and walked over to the window. He opened it and put his leg outside, so he was sitting on the ledge.

"I like all this sneaking around. It's kind of sexy," I laughed as he wrapped his arm around my back. "I'll see you in registration," I nodded and he pressed his lips to mine.

"Go," he laughed and grinned at me, making me smile.

"I'll see you in a bit," he lowered himself down from the window ledge and I watched as he jumped down. I rolled my eyes and shut my window. I pulled on my shoes, grabbed my bag and jacket and left my room.

"Come on I don't want to be late for college." I nodded and followed Xavier out to his car. We got into his car and we drove to school. "I've got an exam at half four, so I won't be finished until six. Are you okay for getting home?" He asked glancing at me.

"Yeah I'll be fine. Do you want me to keep you some dinner?"

"Yeah, there's money mum and dad left on top of the fridge."

"How do you expect me to reach the top of the fridge?" He pulled over outside school and smiled at me.

“You’ll think of something. But I’ll see you later,” I nodded and unbuckled my seat belt.

“See you later,” I said while climbing out of the car.

I had a plan for today. I was going to try and avoid Sean until I find out what Paul wanted to tell me. I walked to my locker and met up with my friend Chloe. “Hey Rachel, what’s up?” She asked as I put my books in my locker.

“Nothing, I’m sick of school to be honest.” She laughed and we headed towards registration.

“So how was your birthday then? Felt bad for not actually seeing you on your birthday.”

“No it’s okay; you saw me on Saturday night. It was alright I guess.” She nodded as we walked into registration. We sat down at our normal table and started talking.

“Just alright?” she questioned. I couldn’t really tell her what really happened.

“Yeah just alright,” I said with a slight laugh.

“Do you want to hang out after school?” She asked me as Williams started calling the role.

“I can’t I have tutoring and I need to get home before Xavier.” She nodded before answering her name when Williams called it.

~~~After school~~~
“Hey, Rach,” I turned around and saw Sean. Looks like my plan didn’t work.
“Hey,” I said while he walked up to me.
“Are you avoiding me or something?” He teased, but only if he knew how right he was.
“Of course not,” I said with a laugh.
“So what are you doing now? Do you fancy doing something since I missed your birthday?” I looked at him apologetically.
“Sorry, I’ve got tutoring now. Then I need to get some and do my homework before getting dinner in for me and Xavier.” He shook his head and smiled.
“It’s alright; I’ll catch you tomorrow morning?” I nodded and he smiled. He bent down and placed his lips against mine. I kissed him back for a few seconds before pulling away,
“Sean I’ve got to go. I’ll see you tomorrow.” He smiled and gave me one quick kiss before leaving. I sighed and headed towards Williams’ room.
I walked into his room, making him look up. I dumped my bag on the floor and sat down in one of the seats. “Rough day?” He asked amused. I sighed and rested my head on the table.
“I hate this school,” I said into the desk.
“Why?” He asked sounding closer. Then I felt the desk move slightly, signalling he was sitting on the desk.
“I just hate it; I can’t wait until I never have to see this place and the people in this place again.”
“I’m a person in this place,” he said slightly amused.
“You know what I mean.”
“Come on then. Let’s get out of here,” I looked up and saw Williams packing up his stuff. I got off my chair and picked up my bag.
“I just want to go home and do nothing.” He chuckled and locked his door after we walked out.
"That's okay, that's what we'll do."
*
I sat down on the sofa and sighed. "School was that bad?" Williams asked from beside me.
"Yeah it was," he turned around and angled his body towards mine.
"Why what happened?" He asked while playing with my hair.
"I was trying so hard to avoid Sean today so I could think, then I had to run into him after school."
"What did he say?"
"Just if I wanted to hang out after school, but I told him I was busy." I sighed and turned towards him. "Anyway what did you want to say earlier?"
"Do you remember I was saying how he hasn't done anything like that before or since?" he said looking down while stroking my hand.
"Yeah."
"Well he can be a nice guy. And I know what I'm going to say next you might not like. But I want you to give him a chance." I looked at him as if he was crazy.
"What do you mean?"
"I want you to give him a chance. He’s not a bad guy, he’s really nice.” I sighed and ran a hand through my hair.
“Just last night you were telling me how you think he wasn’t good enough for me. Now you’re telling me that I should give him a chance because he’s a nice guy?” He lowered his head and ran his fingers through his hair.
“I only said that because I was jealous and I wasn’t thinking about you. I don’t want you to dump him as soon as you can without getting to know him.”
“But I don’t know if I want to go out with him anymore after finding out what he did to you.” He turned his body towards mine and smiled slightly.
“But if I never told you that then you would’ve let yourself get to know him. I don’t want you to end it if there’s a chance that you will like him and want to stay in a relationship with him.” He said a bit sad.
“What if I say I want to be in a relationship with you and not Sean?” He smiled and a slight laugh escaped is lips.
“I would still say give him a chance. Just give him a chance okay? At least just for a month or two.” I thought about it, but nodded to make him happy. “Thank you,” he said before kissing me forehead. “I just don’t want you to make a mistake like I did.” I pulled away and looked at him confused.
“What you’ve been in this situation before? Dating your teacher’s brother or should I say sister and then dating the teacher behind her sister’s back?” He laughed at my sarcastic question and wrapped his arms around me.
“No not quite that same situation. But I mean accidentally telling you that I like you. If I didn’t tell you I liked you, then you wouldn’t be arguing with yourself and deciding whether to dump Sean or not.” I laughed and rested against his chest. “What’s so funny?”
“Nothing,” he pulled up down and hovered above me.
“It was clearly something,” he said with a smirk.
“Whatever just stop hovering above me; it’s weird.” He laughed and lay down beside me.
“So are you going to tell me what you’re laughing at?” I smiled and rested my hands on my stomach.
“Possibly, might tell you later.”
“You’ll forget and then I’ll never know.” I laughed and rolled on my side to face him. “Come on tell me,” he said while poking my ribs.
“I was just thinking about how you think that telling me you liked me was a mistake.”
“It was; I wasn’t meant to tell you until you left school.” I smiled and rested my forehead against his.
“What if I was to tell you that I fancied you? Would you still think it was a mistake?” He smirked and brushed his hand along my arm.
“Not so much anymore no. I always thought that you just though of me as a friend.”
“Well last year I had this huge crush on you, but I always thought that it was stupid so I didn’t really think like that anymore. I kind of thought of you more as a friend because of it, but I guess I still liked you. I never thought we would be here.”
“How come?” he asked sounding interested. But I thought the answer to the question was obvious.
“A couple of reasons; you’re my teacher, you’re six years older than me, you’re good looking I’m not. And-” before I could continue, he pressed his lips against mine to silence me. “Is there a reason you interrupted me?”
“I didn’t like what you were saying. Just because I’m six years older than you, doesn’t mean we couldn’t have a relationship. My parents are ten years apart. And I don’t know what you mean by you’re not good looking; you’re gorgeous.” I blushed and ducked my head.
“Whatever,” I mumbled into his chest. He chuckled, making me feel the vibrations through his chest.
“So what do you want to do then?” I pulled away from his chest and ran a hand through my hair.
“What time is it?” He looked down at his watch.
“Five o’clock, want to get some food?” I nodded and jumped over him. I walked into the kitchen and could hear him following him behind me. I stood in front of the refrigerator looking at the take away menus. “What you thinking of getting?” He asked, slipping his arms around my waist and resting his chin on my shoulder.
“I don’t know. What do you think?”
“Whatever you want, I don’t mind. I shouldn’t even be here anyway.” I laughed and grabbed the pizza menu and started flicking through it. “I’m just going to run and park my car around the corner in case Xavier comes back early.”
“What do you want though?”
“Whatever, get what you want. Chances are I’ll eat it.” I rolled my eyes as he slipped his arms away. “I’ll be back in a minute,” he kissed my temple and I felt his chest move from my back.
“Wait,” he turned around as I said that. “I can’t reach the money,” I told him sheepishly.
“Top of the fridge?” I nodded and he walked over to me. I back up against the fridge and Williams stretched to the top of the fridge. He handed me the money and smiled. I took some out of the box and handed back to him. He placed it back, while keeping his eyes on mine. “I’ll be back in a minute,” he bent down and pressed his lips to mine. He pulled away and walked out of the kitchen. I let out a breath and pulled my phone from my pocket.
*
I kept flicking through the channels, trying to find something to watch. “Can you just pick a channel and leave it on?” Williams said from above me, and I could feel the vibrations in his chest.
“Shut up Williams,” he laughed but was interrupted when I heard a car door slam. “Is it six already?” He looked down at his watch and nodded.
“It’s seven,” I jumped up and pulled him with me.
“You need to go upstairs. Wait in my room; I’ll be five minutes or so.” I told him pushing him towards the stairs.
 “Okay, you can calm down.” I rolled my eyes making him laugh. He walked up the stairs as I walked back into the living room to clear up. As I walked out of the living room, Xavier came in and threw his bag on the floor.
“Are you okay?” I asked walking into the kitchen. I set the pizza on the counter and washed the glasses before Xavier could ask why there are two.
“Yeah, exam didn’t go too well. I just need to chill I guess.” I nodded and turned to him.
“There’s pizza left over in the box. I’m away to my room; I’ll talk to you later.”
“Okay, I’ll see you later.” I walked out of the kitchen and went to my room quickly.
I closed the bathroom door after I got changed. I walked into my room and closed the door. Williams was lying on my bed flicking through one of my music magazines. I walked over and flopped down beside him. “Are you interested in anything apart from music?” He asked without looking at me.
“Yeah of course I am. That was a pretty stupid question.”
“Well you’re either playing your guitar, listening to your iPod and now I see your music magazines. I’m just seeing if you’re interested in anything else.” He put the magazine back on the table and turned his body to face mine. “Is everything okay with Xavier?”
“Yeah, he’s just not really in a good mood right now.”
“How come?” I slid my legs under the covers and pulled them over me.
“He had an exam today and he doesn’t think he did very well in it. But he always says that and he does well in them.” He nodded and folded his arms across his chest.
“So I was wandering if you want to go out on Sunday night? Go see a movie or something.” I smiled and nodded.
“Sounds good,” he grinned and placed a gentle kiss on my lips.
“Life would be so much easier if we just moved away.” I laughed and snuggled into his chest.
“What happened to giving Sean a chance, eh Williams?” He pulled the covers over him and wrapped his arms around me.
“What happened to me wanting you to call me Paul? I don’t go around calling you Hicks.”
“But I’m used to calling you Williams. When I call you Paul it feels weird to me.” He chuckled slightly and kissed the top of my head.
“Why? It’s my name.”
“I know, but I’m just so used to calling you Williams.”
“Will you ever call me Paul?” he asked against my head.
“Eventually I guess,” he nodded and placed a kiss on my temple. “Since we can’t go out very often, we’re going to be stuck inside all day. So I guess I’ll end up calling you Paul.”
“Yeah about that, since I live with Sean, it might be a bit risky us hanging out at my house. But I don’t want us constantly in your house either. So I’ve got this house in the country we can hang out, it’s only twenty minutes away.” I pulled away from him slightly and looked at him.
“So you’re rich now?”
“Not really. I bought it off my parents.” I furrowed my eyebrows confused.
“Why would you buy it off your parents?” He sighed and rubbed my arm.
“I’ll tell you another time about them. But I basically bought it because they were going to sell it. It was my grandfather’s house, and he gave it to them when he died. But I didn’t want them to sell it, so earlier this year I bought it. Remember earlier this year I was off for two days?” I nodded, “well it was because of all the paperwork and stuff because it was just after his death. So they had to check a lot of stuff.”
“But why would they want to sell it?”
“Its not that I don’t want to tell you, I would rather tell you another time. So on Sunday we’ll talk about our family’s and stuff. It’ll be like a surprise,” he said with a smirk.
“Okay.”
“But right now I want to watch TV and chill for a little while. Then I’ll head home.”
“Can you not stay tonight?” he looked at me and smiled.
“If you want, you know I don’t mind.” I laughed and placed my lips against his. He traced his tongue along my bottom lips, and I parted my lips. He tangled one hand in my hair while rubbing my lower back. I slid my hands up to his shoulders and pushed him away slightly.
“Thought you wanted to watch TV?” I said against his lips. But before he could answer, I grabbed the remote and lay back into his chest. He laughed as I turned on the TV.
Kissing Williams was a million times better than kissing Sean. I wish that Williams didn’t want me to give him a chance. Because I know that I’d rather be with him then Sean. I’m glad Sean came here because he’s a nice guy. But I think he just came at the wrong time. After I finished school would’ve been a perfect time. But I guess if I want to be with Williams, I just have to wait a month or two until I can tell Sean I don’t like him like a boyfriend. I wish I could do it earlier, but I promised Williams I would give him a chance. But how slow can two months past right?
