you and yuji ended up meeting with megumi and the so-called angel or hana kurusu. this comedian guy was also there. if you could remember correctly, you believed his name was takaba.
once you guys had all regrouped, you ran into another problem. the military had shown up. they had threw a grenade into the room you four had met up in, to which yuji swiftly kicked away.
you covered your ears and ducked your head down upon hearing the blast. they then stormed the room.
you all took them down quickly. it really wasn't that difficult, just a pain. megumi then decided to hold one hostage, simply to ask him what was going on and why they were here,
"i don't know all the details since i'm just a grunt.. but they want to study your cursed energy as an alternative energy source," the military man spoke.
you looked at him in confusion,
'alternative energy source..? is that even possible???'
you all chatted amongst yourselves about this, trying to get a grasp of it all,
"we should help them," yuji suggested,
"the military!?" takaba exclaimed, "but they wanna abduct us for experimentation or some perverted thing like that!!"
"yeah but if we don't, everyone will end up in one big meat ball with tengen," megumi explained,
"yeah i still don't get that," takaba sighed in exasperation,
"don't worry dude, me neither," you pat his shoulder comfortingly,
"don't bother.." a mouth on the side of kurusu spoke. it was the angel. you all looked towards the girl in confusion,
"in both tokyo colonies, 50 sorcerers fought and fell," the angel continued, "so tokyo number 1 is already full of cursed energy,"
"which means?" yuji asked, his voice becoming noticeably more irritated,
"which means there's no point. even if we save the soldier, the results will be the same,"
"yeah? so what?" he scoffed. yuji was clearly pissed off now. you eyed megumi off slightly trying your best to ask, 'what the fuck is going on' with just your eyes to which he responded with a shrug,
"hana an i live in symbiosis. if she's in danger, then i'm in danger," the angel explained, "so don't drag her into meaningless fights.."
"we weren't together to begin with so let us go our own way," yuji grimaced, "don't be bossy.. i still don't trust you,"
your eyes widened upon hearing this. this did not sound like yuji at all. even kurusu looked back at him in shock,
"are you talking to me..? or the angel? because either, way it's unpleasant,"
an awkward silence filled the air. you cleared your throat awkwardly and slightly chuckled,
"ahaaa, why don't we go out and get some fresh air. i don't think chatting in this smoke filled room is very productive.."
once you said that yuji ran out of the room. you and megumi immediately followed until he had slowed down,
"this isn't like you, itadori," megumi spoke,
"really? are you sure..?" yuji replied nonchalantly,
"yuji, what's wrong? really i've never heard you act like that towards someone,"
he didn't respond,
"i just would have expected you to be more considerate to kurusu," megumi added.
yuji looked down, clenching his fists. you went over to him to grab his hands, helping him relax a little,
"ever since y/n and i regrouped here with you. i was afraid that she would.. replace kugisaki," yuji said quietly.
you squeezed yuji's hand slightly as you felt a pang in your heart upon hearing her name. he looked at you with worried eyes, but you just responded with a small smile,
"don't be dumb," megumi rolled his eyes. yuji chuckled a bit,
"i'll apologise later,"
"yeah, you better,"

a couple hours later, you, megumi, yuji and kurusu had met up with maki, to which she explained what had been going on outside the culling game. to all of your shock, tengen had been taken by kenjaku,
"wait, why hasn't the merger started yet?" yuji asked,
"surely things have been affected outside the barrier.." you suggested,
"yeah. a few things have popped up on the news," maki sighed,
"we wouldn't know why the merger hasn't begun thought. maybe kenjaku can't start it yet, or he just doesn't feel like it," megumi suggested,
"well, either way, it' a pain and there's no way to know. so tsumiki comes first," you stated, earning a nod from everyone.

after further discussion, you all decided it's finally time to try add the rule allowing culling game players to leave since yuta had given over 300 points to megumi,
"kogane," megumi called, "add a rule allowing players to leave the culling game,"
"denied." the kogane spoke, "that would conflict with rule 7,"
"well, that's unexpected," you muttered sarcastically,
"what about allowing players to leave if they invite a new player into the colony?" megumi asked,
"denied." the kogane replied,
"huh?!? then how is anyone supposed to leave?" yuji whined,
"the culling game has a suggestion," the kogane spoke, "a player could leave the game by expending 100 points to invite a new player into the colony as a substitute,"
"but doesn't that also conflict with rule 7... you'd have to kill at least 20 sorcerers to leave," you deadpanned. the kogane just repeated what it said. megumi sighed,
'that thing is done negotiating. megs needs to make a decision,'
"understood. that's enough,"
all koganes then came out to announce the new rule,
"rule 11: players can now leave the game by expending 100 points to invite a new player into the colony as a substitute!"

maki had left to go get tsumiki, while the four of you just waited there. kurusu had gone to patrol the sky in case tsumiki fell anywhere near you guys.
you guys had only waited a few minutes before tsumiki just appeared right in front of you,
"oh wow, she just.. fell right in," you spoke in slight shock and confusion,
"hi megumi! oh wow.. is that you y/n?" she smiled, "what a surprise!"
"uh yeah," megumi muttered,
"hey tsumiki!" you grinned. it was nice seeing her after so long,
"you've got good luck tsumiki!" yuji smiled, "i'm itadori, pleased to meet you!" he bowed,
"same here!" she returned.
kurusu then came flying down,
"ah good! i wasn't needed," she chuckled,
"this is kurusu. she was patrolling above in case you fell from the sky!" yuji exclaimed. you smiled and sighed in relief to see him talking kindly of the girl.
megumi then explained to tsumiki of what she had to do to get out of this game and tranferred 100 points to her. tsumiki nodded and called her kogane,
"kogane, add a rule allowing entry and exit across colony borders,"
'... huh?'
