only a day later, nanami informed both you and itadori on what had happened to junpei's mother and the next steps,

"unfortunately, junpei's mother has died and the presence of a curse was sensed,"

you looked down at the ground, eyes wide in shock. you seriously didn't believe junpei did this, but this situation could drive him to do something worse,

"look, we don't know who did this, but we did find one of sukuna's fingers placed at the crime scene. whether it was junpei who placed it, or someone else is something i have to figure out,"

"i..?" you asked confused, quoting what nanami had said. were you and itadori not going to be included on what goes on next?

"yes. this mission is getting too dangerous for the both of you to handle. i'm going to need you to stay put," he spoke seriously. you were about to say something else but itadori beat you to it,

"nanamin, this isn't fair! we became friends with junpei, we deserve to be able to help save him!" he exclaimed,

"i agree, nanami-san," you said professionally, "i really don't think that it's a good idea for you to be doing this on your own. itadori and i should accompany you,"

"i won't be on my own. i have someone there to help me already if i need reinforcements. and itadori, getting your feelings involved in this already rules you out from the mission. you guys will not be coming," nanami spoke assertively,

"but-!"

"like i said before, you two are children. it's my duty of care to protect you and not to let you get into situations you cannot handle,"

both you and itadori stayed quiet for a bit as nanami walked away. itadori then spoke quietly,

"it's not a bad thing to be children.."

nanami stopped for a moment before continuing his walk away,

"i never said it was, itadori,"

you looked at itadori who looked absolutely shattered before sneaking him back to your dorm. he stormed over to your couch, slouching and crossing his arms while zoning out into the void. you sighed,

"itadori," you said sternly. he looked towards you, still pissed off that nanami said he couldn't go, "i promise you, junpei will be fine in nanami's hands, okay? nanami is right in a way, it's too dangerous. one of us or even both of us are bound to get hurt and personally.. i don't think i could bare to see you die again," you smiled softly,

itadori simply stared at you in amusement and confusion as well. you realised that maybe bringing your feelings into it wasn't a good idea,

"i don't plan to die again, y/n," he spoke with a chuckle, "i'm gonna go for a walk, i'll be right back,"

"okay then, don't get caught please,"

"i won't," he said, waving goodbye.

a few minutes after he walked away. you realised that letting him leave was the last thing you should have done,

'he's definitely gone to the school to see junpei,'

you groaned to yourself, thinking you couldn't be dumber to let him just walk off like that, especially after what just happened. you decided to try call him, but of course, there was no answer. you then sent him a bunch of messages, but that led to be pointless with you being left on delivered.
