The disposition of furniture in Hyunjin's room is vastly different than all the other rooms in this mansion and quite peculiar. The bed is bigger than a king-sized bed, taking up a big chunk of the room yet there is still so much space left, it is oddly placed in the very corner, right next to the wall, leaving only an L-shaped exit to hop off or hop in on the bed. Next to the wall it is placed is a large window that gives a view of the distance surrounding Hyunjin's mansion, its windowpane is made of darkened oak wood, smoothened to lessen the intimidation
Felix would have been mesmerized, intrigued, and likely fascinated by the silly presentation of such a lovely room but right now he is better fixated on finishing this darned juice. The tangy aftertaste of the boring orange juice feels a little too harsh on his tongue right now, he would have preferred something softer like mango or pineapple juice, but the thought doesn't cross his mind, he doesn't think of the fact that he perhaps would have enjoyed something less acidic because he is solely focused on the answers he is about to receive once this clear glass is no longer orange.
Hyunjin knew he had to say the truth, knew there was no better in hiding and playing games of dishonesty. He had a thousand tales he could have picked to feed Felix his perfectly woven lies but he chose not to, if he had gotten Felix involved in his atrocity, the least he could do is let go of him with honor. Hyunjin doesn't want to dwell on the possibility of what would be once the veil has been lifted, instead, he struck a deal with Felix
not to buy time, but to make sure Felix had woken up well enough from his medicated sleep to take in whatever Hyunjin had to offer. Quiet consumption of an invigorating beverage in return for a life-changing revelation. That was the deal Hyunjin had initiated, though of course, he undermined the situation with a simple play of words; "I'll tell you everything, but first at least let yourself awaken properly-have something, we'll talk then" Hyunjin's tone had been soft then, and Felix would have thought of himself a monster if he declined
no questions were raised about the obvious blood on Hyunjin, the more Felix drank this acidulcis liquid, the more awake he felt, the more the drowsiness vanished, the more aware he became of the scarlet potion of life. Feeling queasy and unable to look at said potion any longer, Felix diverted his gaze to the vast window, allowing himself to relax and chanting in his mind that all of his questions would be answered if he kept his end of the bargain, reminded himself he didn't need to ponder too deeply about whatever dirtied Hyunjin
he trusted Hyunjin after all, never mind a stranger he best be.
This isn't a daily life situation one would find themselves in, this wasn't even a situation someone would play out in their head before going to sleep as a harmless scenario, this was pure fiction come true and Hyunjin is surprised how calmly Felix was handling it. He had woken up with barely any memories of the past day and a half, with pain everywhere, in a strange place he didn't recognize, and to answer his questions came a man he had been sleeping with for the past two months
it wasn't ordinary, and Hyunjin doesn't know why Felix hadn't flipped out yet. Not that he wanted that to happen but for nonapparent reasons, something inside of his mind tells him if Felix flips out now then his reaction to what is to come will be lesser, or maybe Hyunjin is just playing mind tricks on his own nerves to help himself be at ease.
Inevitably so, the juice finishes and the clock strikes the moment Hyunjin will begin to lose it all. He doesn't acknowledge just how much this was affecting him, why he was even so bothered by revealing himself to Felix, why he was committing the act at all. This wasn't anything two gunshots wouldn't have fixed, yet here Hyunjin was, struggling entirely more than he should. Two months don't matter, especially not when you live the life of Hwang Hyunjin, a mere boy who's pretty enough to bring you to your knees and loveable enough to push you into a life crisis is not a serious situation at all
and maybe Hyunjin should just stop worrying and get this over with, but somehow, the words twist and tangle in his throat like lovers in a ballroom on a full moon night, hiding away in corridors clad by shadows to whisper giggles in one another's ears and press affectionate kisses to mouths. He can't speak when he feels Felix turn toward him, setting away the glass on the nightstand next to the bed as he exhales a soft sigh and places his hands on his lap, awaiting Hyunjin's statements
Hyunjin is looking down at Felix's nails, watching the antiquely royal vision of his room from his periphery, unable to form any words, the warm hues of brown and gold splicing into unshaped objects in his mind. "So?" Felix exhales another sigh like he's attempting to gather Hyunjin's attention but appears to be failing, which is as rare as a fire tornado honestly because when has Hyunjin ever failed to give Felix attention? (Hint: never) Felix watches the man quietly, observing how he tries to make up words in his mind by biting the inside of his cheeks before he finally looks up at Felix.
It was time perhaps, time to start letting Felix know every truth he had concealed, to make him aware and let him go on his own accord. Something becomes heavy in Hyunjin's chest when he opens his mouth to speak, his mind going blank because he had willingly paused all and every thought that could cross his mind so he could focus on this moment solely. Felix's morning-dew-like eyes look back into Hyunjin's and the man just feels his chest growing tighter, tighter, and tighter until he has to physically exhale and let go of the tension building inside
"What is the last thing you remember?"
Hyunjin starts with a soft launch, wanting to tread the unexpecting waters. Felix's brown curious eyes stare into his for a second, trying to search through his scattered memories and discover what he last lived through, or remembers to have lived through. Pictures flash through his foggy mind like he's flipping through a book, trying to pick out the one that feels the most recent, the last one. The cinema screen rolls in, Hyunjin's glittering eyes fall forward too, the kiss, the touch, everything electric, the walk back home, the texts
and then it stops abruptly, as if the pages won't flip anymore, Felix tries to focus more and flourish something else but whatever he thinks of disappears immediately after appearing like mist in the night. Hyunjin sits patiently, remembering Jisoo's words and letting Felix work through the after-effects of the drug. Though the anger does rise in Hyunjin but the gasp that follows his surge of wrath quickly disperses it and forces his attention back on Felix, he stares and waits patiently, nervous that the bad things have come back to the boy that have elicited such a reaction
rogue kisses Felix's cheeks as he stares at Hyunjin with wide eyes and a hand over his lips, Hyunjin can't truly decipher what Felix's reaction means because it seems more flustered than distressed. After a few seconds, Felix finally removes his hand from his mouth and stares at Hyunjin with furrowed brows, biting on his lower lip as he tries to form the embarrassing words in his throat to become sentences. "Did you-did we fucked so much that I literally blacked out for a day?" The whisper comes out lightly, quiet as a feather rustling. His eyes are a little wider now when he gazes back into Hyunjin's
And even if it took Hyunjin a few seconds to understand Felix, his eyes immediately enlarged when he did so. "That I don't even remember us having dinner! Or whatever we did, anything at all!" Felix bites back a shriek as he continues with his horrendous scenario which makes no sense. Hyunjin is stumbling over his thoughts as he shakes his head no, though it would not have been too much of an unexpected situation considering the way they behaved like rabbits with one another
Hyunjin's head-shakes become faster as he finally mutters out words; "No, no Felix that's not what happened" Though he can't help but wonder how nice it would have been if it did, how Felix wouldn't have ever gotten hurt, how his safety would remain intact and how everything would be fine, how Hyunjin won't have to reveal it all and risk ruining what they have. Hyunjin sighs and lowers his neck, looking down at the mattress to gather his thoughts before he looks up with an exhale, eyes meeting with a befuddled Felix's
"That's not what happened" he repeats his words as though he needs to before he gulps and licks his lips. Felix isn't sure if he's relieved or further perplexed "Then what did?" He raises his brows, finding his stomach twisting and knotting in on itself. If he hadn't been with Hyunjin then where had he been? his thoughts ring like cathedral bells and as Hyunjin opens his eyes to say something, Felix is softly gasping again, silencing him and locking his upcoming words in his throat
"I...I was fighting someone"
Felix's eyes twinkle like he senses danger or is envisioning it like he might be terrified within. Hyunjin's mind twists into the worst of fables, desperate to get rid of this look in the latter's eyes and exsanguinate whoever had caused it. Rage sways inside Hyunjin like the way smoke billows from ships in the harbor, twisting and forming into phantoms of the worst creatures from hell.
"Someone rang my doorbell, I checked who it was, it was a masked stranger-I don't remember what we talked about or what happened next but I remember fighting someone before more people came up and I was held back...and then I fainted"
Felix's throat attempts to close up and block his words but it only ends with his sentence sounding choppy as he looks away and focuses on the sheets to help his mind regain the memories better before he looks up at Hyunjin with furrowed brows and a discerned look on his face "What happened, Hyunjin?" Felix doesn't sound confused anymore, he sounds worried, truly and shakily concerned. And now Hyunjin has to lift the veil, with it would be lifted all the ecstasy they have felt the past two months and dispersed into thin air before its specks turn into agony
"You...were kidnapped"
Hyunjin doesn't know if these are the correct words, if this is the right thing to start with, but the words are out of his mouth before he could register them and the look on Felix's face makes him feel dizzy. He doesn't look scared, rather flabbergasted. "What?" is what comes out of Felix's mouth, which is what Hyunjin had been expecting. So he clears his throat and licks his lips, getting ready to elaborate, eyes falling to Felix's lap because he cannot look at him anymore
"After I dropped you back home, after whatever doorbell you answered" Hyunjin's not very good at explaining and it's obvious by Felix's face. The blond looks up after finishing his sentence, licking his lips because they keep going dry. "W--I'm confused, by who? why? how am I here? why would someone kidnap me from my house and--" Felix cuts himself off, exhaling a loud sigh and falling silent because he wants Hyunjin to continue, wants to learn exactly what had happened
Hyunjin takes a second longer than he should have before he continues again "By uh...my nemesis" Hyunjin trails off like he's unsure of his words and he has been like this since he sat here in front of Felix. The nervousness bubbling in his veins is making him lose all eloquence. Hyunjin isn't even sure he can refer to Seonghwa as a nemesis, he wasn't before, prior to all of this he was just a person in Hyunjin's past but now he had forced himself to become something so much worse than just a nemesis
"Your nemesis?" Felix's brows furrowed, he didn't know what was going on and he didn't think his confusion could have gotten worse, all of this was starting to feel like a fever dream, not the fun kind. "It's a long story" Hyunjin sighs softly and something about his words rubs Felix the wrong way
"And you don't think I deserve to know that long story?" Felix cocks a brow, not wanting to act unnecessarily bitchy with Hyunjin but the way Hyunjin keeps trying to cloak things is pissing him off, the fact that he feels like he has no control of his own body, his thoughts, and everything else, the fact that he can't even remember anything is making him more than annoyed. Hyunjin licked his lips yet again, not upset at Felix for making a bitter comment because the blue-haired had every right to act this way, or even worse
"I'm sorry, yes you do. I uh--don't really know where to start" Hyunjin clears his throat, still not meeting Felix's eyes which only makes the blue-haired further vexed "What nemesis?" He tries to help Hyunjin in his struggle with story-telling by asking a question. "Someone I used to know, someone who wanted to hurt me, who wanted power over me" Hyunjin's eyes are downcast, staring with intent at the curves in the sheets because this is easier than looking at Felix
"Why would they kidnap me if they wanted power over you?" Felix can't understand this whatsoever, it's all starting to sound like some big made-up bullshit but he knows it's the truth, otherwise, how do you explain all that has been happening to him? Hyunjin doesn't have the answer to the question Felix has asked him, he doesn't know what to say in response to that
Felix's question was beyond valid, why would Seonghwa kidnap Felix if he wanted power over Hyunjin? But it's a question Hyunjin doesn't have the answer to, or more like wouldn't want to know the answer to it. "I don't know" Hyunjin lies through his teeth, he knows, he knows very well why Seonghwa had targeted Felix but he doesn't want to say it. Felix lets out a loud exhale, staring out of the window and running a hand through his hair
finally, Hyunjin looks up and watches the look of pure distress on his face which makes his heart twitch. Hyunjin gulps and fathins he has to explain it all to Felix, that it is entirely too wrong to keep things from Felix while he has already been violated enough. So he gathers his courage and begins explaining, blocking all thoughts and miseries dawning on him, and focuses on the fact that Felix deserves to know the truth
"Because you're the only thing that's precious to me, because I am the lord of the underworld and I cannot be defeated,"
Hyunjin's words pierce through the air like a warrior's sword, forcing Felix to turn his neck and stare at Hyunjin with eyes of unreadable emotions, forcing his breath to be stuck in his lungs and his heartbeat to stop. Hyunjin doesn't stop there, knows he's far too below the waves of the tide to seek mercy from the shore so he just lets Poseidon drag him off to wherever he deems right
"Because I have never held anything that would give them power over me, it's impossible to harm me, but it's possible to harm the one thing they know is my Achille's heel,"
Hyunjin feels shame prickling his skin as he says those words, undeniably embarrassing but all too true. He never wanted to say that, but he has also never thought he'd ever bear a kryptonite, one whose mere idea of departure would raise unthinkable worry in him. Felix is quiet, way too quiet. There is no curl of shock on his face, or of horror. Everything about him is still and it makes Hyunjin want to throw up his erratically beating heart so he speaks further, in hopes of killing this fatal silence
