Chapter eighty
"A monsters ball full of actual monsters."
It had been four days since Bonnie's funeral and since Beatrix was back on campus things were different like Flora's constant absence, which happened to be unknowingly to all of them getting extremely close to Dr Wes Maxfield, and by extremely close, she would spend nights studying with him in his classroom or in his lab, becoming his female TA, where soon Jesse just stopped coming, although with the nights the two spent together, they ended up kissing, and soon kissing turned into making out and that turned into her sleeping with him and she still never told any of them, knowing what they would think of her.
Meanwhile, the other witches were at Megan's memorial, planting new flowers and prettying it up, as a boy walked up behind them "what are you doing?" he asked, making all of them jump, they turned around, all wearing black jackets and sunglasses "we just wanted to make it look nicer. We didn't mean to overstep." Joanna told him "did you know Meghan?" Esme asked him "we knew each other growing up." the boy shared "we're sorry." Minnie told him "no, I'm sorry, you guys were just trying to make it less sad. But I guess it's not exactly cool to mourn during fall rush." the boy shared.
"Well, we're the exception. I lost a friend a few days ago. Everyone grieves differently. Some do flowers, others choose to continue doing what those loved ones wanted from them." Beatrix shared "well, what Meghan would've wanted was to still be here alive." the boy shared "I thought she committed suicide?" Laura asked "yeah. I know that's what they said." the boy cryptically shared "and why do you say it like that?" Beatrix asked "if you guys want to make it nice, I would get sunflowers. She liked those." the boy shared as he turned walking off "well he's not strange." Joanna shared.
"You think?" Esme asked, as Minnie shrugged "he's kind of cute." she told them, as the four of them turned and looked at her "that's what Flora said about Dr Wes Maxfield and now she's been MIA since the day the three of you left campus." Joanna shared, as she turned walking off, the five of them followed her "doing what exactly?" Beatrix asked "we don't know. She barley even comes to our room anymore." Esme shared, as they all continued walking off.
It was the night of the Whittmore historical ball, or the monster ball seeing as everyone dressed up as some historical figure that had done something bad in the past, which was why Beatrix and the witches had all dressed up as witches from the Salem witch trials, wearing bonnets and old timey dresses "a little obvious don't you think?" Flora asked, standing with them "well, the girl who decides to disappear days on end doesn't get a say in the costumes." Joanna shared, as Stefan walked up to them "ladies." he told them "who are you supposed to be?" Beatrix asked him "Caroline made me go as James Dean." Stefan shared, as Beatrix hummed "Caroline the ever controlling best friend." she shared, as Stefan held his hand out to her "dance with me." he told her, as Beatrix looked to the others "go. Nothing's gonna happen tonight." Esme shared, as Beatrix turned grabbing Stefan's hand and letting him take her to the dance floor.
And as she did, Minnie then spotted the boy from earlier "I found my target." she shared, walking away from them "Minnie, don't you dare.." Laura told her, lunging for her, Joanna grabbed her "let her go. She's a witch and has claws. He's harmless compared to her." she shared, as she motioned her head "come on." she told them, as her, Laura and Esme walked off, Flora went to follow them as Esme turned to her "don't you have somewhere else to be." she told her, as she turned around following the other two, Flora stood there and began realizing how ostracized she was being from her friends and being quickly replaced by Beatrix, all because of a damn prophecy as she turned walking away.
Meanwhile, Minnie stepped next to the boy from earlier "I just wanted to come over here and tell you after you left we put sunflowers down if you hadn't gotten a chance to see it yet." she shared "I haven't but thanks." the boy told her as he looked at her costume "Salem witch trials." he pointed out "yep, me and my housemates all dressed up as them, we wanted to do a group thing." Minnie shared, as she turned to him "if you don't mind me asking though, why are you so focused on Megans death? I mean she was your friend but when we brought up how she died, you seemed to almost not believe it?" she asked him, using her magic to make him tell her, a truth spell of sorts.
"It's because everybody around me dies. It's like a curse. My friends, my family..one by one, I've lost every single person in my life. So if you had any idea what survivors guilt felt like you'd leave me alone." the boy shared, as Minnie looked to him with wide eyes, knowing to well what that was like, seeing as she had to trigger her werewolf side somehow and that was by accidentally killing someone, her nanny actually "I'm..I'm sorry." she shared, and the boy looked at her and knew she was genuine "it's fine. I don't know why I threw all of that at you, you and your friends had been nothing but nice and I've treated you all like crap. I'm..I'm sorry, I'm Aaron by the way." he shared.
"Minnie." Minnie told him, as Aaron smiled at her "maybe I'll see you around, Minnie." he told her, as he stepped around her and walked off, Minnie sensed a vampire standing behind her and as she turned around, she saw Elena standing there "eavesdrop much?" she asked, as she stepped around her and walked off to find her friends.
Beatrix was drinking at the bar with Stefan "who do you think drinks more? Witches or vampires?" Beatrix asked "I think that would depend on the substance in question." Stefan told her, making Beatrix laugh, although Stefan then noticed Qetsiyah walk up to their right, he put his arm around Beatrix and pulled her closer to him "where I come from, open bar meant ceramic jugs of Phoenician wine." Qetsiyah shared, as Beatrix turned to Stefan "is she talking to you or me?" she asked "you have no idea who I am, do you?" Qetsiyah asked, as Beatrix looked back at her "well unless your the real Cleopatra I'd quit it with the old timey talk." she shared.
"Tessa, formerly known as Qetsiyah." Qetsiyah shared, and as she did, Beatrix's eyes went wide "you!" she voiced "easy there. There's a whole lot of normal people here who I'm sure you'd hate to out yourself in front of." Qetsiyah shared, as Beatrix scoffed "not if it means lighting you on fire and sending you back to where you belong." she threatened her, as Stefan spun her around "okay then. Let's go." he told her and as he did, Damon face to face with them "great idea. I'll grab her legs." he shared, grabbing Athena by the legs the two lifted her up and began carrying her off.
"Put me down the both of you, right now!" Beatrix voiced, as the two of them put her down "your off the rails Beatrix, last time you had this crazy look in your eye, you killed Klaus's mother and Tyler's uncle Mason." Damon reminded her "I don't care!" Beatrix voiced, and as she did, her eyes glowed red "ah, I see what you mean by her losing her mind." Silas shared and as he did, Beatrix and Stefan turned their heads seeing Silas, Beatrix's eyes went wide so did Stefan's.
Damon brought his hands up and snapped Beatrix's neck, as Stefan turned around looking at her body, he furrowed his brows, as Damon then snapped his neck, knowing he would get in the way, as his body fell down next to Beatrix's, just like when she had died.
Silas then bent down taking Stefan's jacket "do you wanna explain to me why I just killed Athena cause my brother was more of a courtesy." Damon shared "well, Tessa's spell mentally linked me and my great granddaughter. I lost my psychic abilities. Beatrix lost her memories although clearly she's stronger then anyone thought seeing as they've been coming back." Silas shared as he put on the jacket "and this severed the link?" Damon asked "yes, Damon, I can read your mind again. So I know that your remembering the night when she first died where you came up behind her and snapped her neck." Silas shared.
"Alright, I believe you." Damon told him "I'll cozy up to the witch and sift through her mind figure out where she's hiding the anchor, and you, all you gotta do is keep them dead." Silas shared "isn't Tessa gonna be slightly suspicious when the man who seemed all to quick to protect her from the girl who was gonna burn her to the ground is all of a sudden showing interest in her?" Damon asked him "Beatrix was more her toy, Stefan was her true target. This face won her heart before. See, a women never forgets her first love no matter how badly it ended." Silas shared, as he turned around, walking out, Damon looked down at Beatrix, wondering if his words were true.
But soon Beatrix began to wake back up, as Damon had laid her on the chair nearby, he had left Stefan lying on the floor, as Damon turned to her "hey, hey." he told her "you snapped by neck, again!" Beatrix voiced, going to stand up, but when she did, she felt dizzy as she fell onto the floor next to Stefan "you put vervain in my system?" she asked him "both of yours actually." Damon shared "why? What did I do to you!" Beatrix voiced, glaring at him "this is about getting Bonnie back." Damon shared, crouching down to her "you..you think Silas is the answer? He's a puppet! A charade he only takes what he wants! He doesn't give anything back! And if you think different your just as stupid as I.." Beatrix shared, as Damon snapped her neck again.
Soon Stefan had woken up and as he did, he turned looking at Beatrix on the ground next to him and as he did, he looked up seeing Damon turned away from them, he looked back to Athena and as he did, he watched her hand move, as he closed his eyes, Damon turned back to them "you two awake?" he asked, walking over to them "Stefan? Athena?" he asked, crouching down to her "Athena?" he asked, moving a piece of hair out of her face "you alive again? Huh?" he asked, as Beatrix slammed her head into his, Damon stumbled back.
As Beatrix stood up, holding her hand out to him, she gave him a migraine and as she did, Stefan turned around to go find Silas, leaving her there "don't you think if I could bring back Bonnie I would've done it already? What happened to the guy who told me it was all gonna be okay when I came to him crying about how she died because of me, huh? It's like I can't get anywhere with you! It's always one step forward and three steps back. I know what it's like to believe Silas's lies? I've been trusting him since that night on that stupid island! He turned me against all of you and Bonnie was the only one to pull me out of it! She was my best friend even when our family's hated each other and you..you think I don't want to bring her back? That I hadn't thought of it! That I didn't try that entire night before burying her to bring her back to life!" she voiced.
But as she did, she soon started to feel her heart stop as she brought her hand down, she fell to the ground, and when she did, Damon's eyes went wide "Beatrix?" he asked, pushing himself up, he went over to her "Beatrix?" he asked her, putting his hand where her pulse was, it began to slow down "no, no, not again. Don't do this to me again!" he voiced, recalling that night, he had followed her and her heart stopped beating, picking her up in his arms, he began walking out of the room.
Although as he did, downstairs, Flora was looking around for her friends until Dr Wes Maxfield walked in front of her, she chuckled "you scared me." she told him "sorry. But I saw that you and your friends all went as the Salem witch trials." Dr Maxfield shared, as Flora furrowed her brows "wait, you know about the witch trials? But I thought you just taught bio?" she asked him "let's just say witches are more of after school activity." Dr Maxfield shared, stabbing her in the neck and injecting her with blood "along with vampires." he added on, as Flora began to feel her heart stop, she passed out, as Dr Maxfield caught her and carried her off.
Meanwhile, Damon was carrying Beatrix as he headed upstairs, he found Silas lying on the floor, just like when they had try to take down Klaus, giving him his answer on why Beatrix was in the state she was in.
Having taken them both home, Beatrix was lying on one couch while Silas was lying on the other, as Damon poured himself and Elena a drink "so professor blondie knows about vampires?" he asked, grabbing the glasses and walking over to her "he said that if I don't drop out of school the wrong people are gonna start asking the right questions." Elena shared "ugh, that's not good." Damon shared, handing her, her glass "no, but what was strange was that Beatrix's friend Minnie was talking to that kid Wes about my roommate and I had seen them all at her memorial earlier talking to him as well. And they wanted to find out about Dr Maxfield too but what I can't figure out is why?" Elena asked.
"Well you know witches and they're secrets especially the Black family. If they don't tell you, the only way you're gonna find out is if it's happening. And seeing as the main one of that division is currently knocked out thanks to her connection with her great grandfather neither can help either of us." Damon shared "so the only way for Silas to trade in his life for Bonnie's is if he's a witch but the only way to become a witch is to have the cure." Elena shared "yep." Damon told her, as someone knocked on the door, Elena looked to it then turned back to him, Damon gasped "what?" Elena asked him.
"Now, who could that be?" Damon asked her, smirking, he stepped around her and walked toward's the front door, opening it "why, hello." he told her "what's so urgent? I'm on the run." Katherine told him, walking inside, as Damon shut the door "don't exactly have time for a pit stop." Katherine shared, as she stopped noticing Silas, she walked down to him "or maybe I do." she said, as Damon followed after her "maybe I have all the time in the world. Katherine Pierce eludes death yet again.." Katherine shared, as Damon noticed Beatrix waking up, he furrowed his brows.
"And you two finally did something right for once. How does it feel?" Katherine asked "not as good as this." Beatrix told her, grabbing Katherine by the neck, Katherine's eyes went wide "Beatrix, no." she croaked out "he needs the cure." Beatrix told her, as she bit into her neck, Katherine screamed "no. No. No, Beatrix. No, no, please. He needs all my blood. It'll kill me, Beatrix. Beatrix, please, I don't want to die. I don't want to die, Beatrix." Katherine begged, as Elena furrowed her brows so did Damon "I don't want to die. Please." Katherine told her.
"Begging for your life? You killed Jermey! And in doing so Bonnie died to give him his life back! And thanks to you the Mikaelson's came to town which got not only got my family killed! But Alaric! Jenna! Me! Tyler's a hybrid douchebag to Caroline because of you! Caroline's a vampire because of you! We all had to suffer the repercussions of Mason Lockwood because of you! And even before that you were toying with Stefan and Damon who were perfectly fine before you showed up and destroyed it all! Pretending to be in danger! Getting them shot by their own father! You made Damon want to die instead of turn because he loved you so much! And Stefan? Stefan became a blood thirsty psychopath who when he snaps out of it thanks to how much he cares about people it breaks him!" she voiced.
Slamming Katherine down on the next to Silas "so if you think for a second that when you die anybody's gonna miss you? Your wrong! So, I'll see you in hell and just for the record? If you pull any tricks whatsoever now or between the time of your death, I'll know! Because hell is my domain so you'll be damn sure if you don't make the trip their yourself I will drag you down there." she shared, showing her, her red eyes, Katherine's eyes went wide, as Beatrix began feeding her to Silas, Katherine tried to push her off of her but she couldn't, where as Katherine's blood was all out of her system, Beatrix let her go and stepped back, as Katherine's body slid to the floor.
Damon and Elena walked up behind Beatrix, as the three all watched Katherine, they began to hear a heartbeat "do you hear that?" Damon asked them "uh..you've gotta be kidding me." Elena shared "looks like somebody got herself an extra few days in this world." Beatrix shared, as Katherine opened her eyes, she was only able to focus on Beatrix "am I in hell?" she asked, as Beatrix smirked, knowing her message at least got across.
