S1C1 - Meeting him
Third person POV
It's been a few weeks since the battle between the ninja and the dark lord
Nya and Irene are officially members of the team, but as support and aids rather than those who fought
The ninja was surprised when Master Wu announced Irene as their medic. They agreed immediately, for many different reasons. But her brother on the other hand
"No"
He knows that Irene is not just a normal girl, he knows she can fight for herself. But he could not shake the concern and growing pit of fear in his chest from the possible situation that would end up getting his sister killed
In battle, it's common sense to take down the medic and the one who is a distraction in fighting
Irene would be targeted. She would be the first target that their enemy had to take down
And Jay could not bear the thought of seeing Irene getting surrounded by their future enemy
Yes, he is emotionally vulnerable and gets easily scared, so he could not avoid letting his emotion control his words and body
So before Irene could explain, Jay has already started breaking down on the spot and muttering inaudible words
It took a week to persuade him to agree. He was so stubborn to agree since he knows how dangerous it would be, but most because he feared that Irene might have to join their battle
And most of all. It's because he knows that there will be a wolf in sheep clothing waiting to take her away
During those weeks, Irene and Nya become comfortable with the monastery and would always help with the housework
Nya would complain about how boring most time is, and Irene would always find a way to help her with her boredom
Zane would sometimes ask Irene for a new recipe since he knows she has more knowledge than he is, and Irene would give him cooking books with a few helpful pieces of advice
Cole would join them but lose interest half way and would just sketch on a paper with Irene complimenting his skill to draw. He would then draw more and present it to Irene like an excited kid
Kai would openly try to use a pick up line with Irene, in which Jay always interrupted because he seems to have a 'Brother intuition' where he could sense boys attempting to flirt with his little sister
Kai would be frustrated and this ended up in both of them arguing at each other without knowing that Irene has left
After everyone manages to persuade Jay, Irene moved all of her stuff that she hid in her motorcycle to the room that Master Wu told her to occupy
Its a room beside Nya's that is in front of Jay's room
Irene kept her skill in combat a secret, and would watch the ninja 'train' in video games
They actually never trained after the battle and mission, it's honestly disappointing for Irene but she let them be and let the show move on its own
As days passed, their lives continue like normal. If they weren't destined heroes, they would be mistaken as a family of troubles
Time skip
Irene POV
I slid my foot into my pair of sandal then I grabbed a basket on the kitchen counter
I look around the room, smiling at the clean placements of the kitchen equipment and the shining surface of the floor and walls
I went to the door, then went to a hallway. While I walk, my ears perked at the sound of laughter an cheers
Those idiots again I softly shook my head as I stopped in front of a shoji(a sliding door), and raised my hand to slid the shoji open
The sight in front of me bring a small smile on my lips and warmth in my heart
The four boys were facing a tv which is currently playing their favorite game, with Nya watching them at the corner
"Oh, hi sis! Wanna join?" Jay, who first noticed me, asked as he turned around
I shook my head
But then Kai use it as a opportunity to strike Jay's character. When Brother heard the sound of a attack, he turned his head to his screen only to see his character lying on the ground, dead
"Hey! Not fair!"
"Sucks to be you" Kai laughs with the others joining in except for Jay who glares at him
Nya walked towards me, chuckling softly at the scene and noticing the basket hanging on my arm
"You're going out?" She asked. I nodded
"I'm going to go out to buy our dinner and perhaps do a little shopping. Wanna join?" I asked
Nya shook her head and smiled in apology "I would love to, but I have to train, sorry"
I smiled in understanding. Nya wanted to become a fighter, and I know she has the fire to be one. I can see it slowly ignite inside her soul, and soon enough. She will have it tying in her being
Nya has the heart of gold. It is strong and unbreakable, and also bright and rare. Master Wu may currently not have seen the potential in her, but soon he will train her like a warrior
Nya wants to become a fighter to protect, not only the people but also the ones she will consider as her family. That is her wish. Nya wants to protect
And I couldn't be more prouder
"It's okay, I understand. Good luck at beating Kai's score" I chuckled
Nya and I walk to the door after telling the boys of our short disappearance for the day
I bid Nya goodbye as I went out of the gate, and I descended to the long stairs, leaving Nya at the training ground to train silently
As I walked down the stairs, I felt the warmth of the sun gracing my skin and the caressed of the wind soft presence
The peak of where the monastery is built were high, higher than the clouds on the air with a thousand of stairs connected to the monastery from the bottom
If it weren't for my status, I would be gasping for air every time I climb this stairs up
The scenery was breathtaking, with tiny dots of people on the surface and villages surrounded by rice fields
Lines of trees create an illusion of a large bush, with the rivers glistering from the sun's delight
The sun were hiding behind the soft color of the clouds, creating some shadows on the surface that flew fast than what some other people assume
On the distance is the vast color of caramel, a place where the blazing sun shines the most, the dessert
I smiled at the sight of the surface, then took out my camera from my 'Storage Inventory' and snapped a picture
This scenery would not be forgotten
After 30 minutes of walking down the thousands of steps. I arrived at the ground and looked for my motorcycle
When I have arrived at the closest village in the area which is 9 minutes of fast travel. I hid my motorcycle and watch as it's magenta color paint shift into a color that blend into the surrounding
I smiles with content then patted any dust that have clung on my skirt
I am wearing my usual outfit, consisting of a white blouse, soft yellow cardigan with sunflower designs and a white long skirt that reaches below my knee, plus a sandal and a straw hat
I did not waste any time and went to the market place to buy any ingredients I might need
After a few minutes. I managed to fill my basket into fruits, vegetables and food stocks for dinner
When I was about to leave to my motorcycle. I felt an aura, an aura similar to a normal human but with hidden sparks inside
Similar to the ninjas. But this one is like a balloon growing, a slow nurturing of a large balloon
My eyes widened when I saw a small speck of green and gold inside that aura, swirling with a small hint of darkness that those two color hids
A growing aura of an unpolished gem
There's no doubt about it
Lloyd Montgomery Garmadon
The aura is moving in a speed similar to running, in a pace of normal human
Before I could even predict where it is heading, I saw him. A blur of blonde locks passed by the vendor that sells fruits, and swiftly grabbed an apple, letting the other apples fall into the ground
My eyes widen for a split second, before the feeling of deep sadness develop inside my chest. The vendor seller yelled for him to come back then chases him, leaving his stall unguarded
The vendor asks for more people to help him chase the boy, yelling threats to beat the boy if he don't surrender
I can sense fear, remorse and hunger inside his aura. It's suffocating, a feeling that grabbed my throat and limit my breaths
This is one of the disadvantage with my ability to sense aura. Everything felt light and warm when I saw aura that shines in positivity, but everything felt suffocating and trapped when it's negativity
I peaked from someone's shoulder and watched as the boy ran passed obstacle that went on his ways, my 'Sharpen Senses' picking up his small mutters of apologies and a small sob that threatened to escape
I felt anger bubbling in my insides, awaiting to be release, that was until I felt a warm like blanket covering itself around my figure and taking away the intense emotion
'Calm sensation' has activated, it only does when I felt intense emotion
After the help of the skill, I then felt disappoinment at the action of the adults
Aren't adults supposed to be more understanding? How can he threatened to beat up a kid who stole an apple? I know it is a crime to steal, but to the point he will beat a kid?
How awful. I understand the reason but how could they not understand the situation a child is in?
I look around, only to see the glares sent into his way. Everyone's eyes were filled with anger, pity and disgust
Their aura flared for a millimeter, but I can sense their deepest desire to teach him a lesson and punish him
Why can't they see? He is suffering too. Even if I did not have the ability to sense aura, I could see the fear and guilt in his gaze as he ran
I pursed my lips, silently staring at the crowd who started continuing their business, as if they just did not witness a whole group of adult men chasing a young kid because of an apple
I need to do something. And fast
Third person POV
A small child, no older than 11, jumped and hid behind the dumpster inside a dark alleyway between two buildings. The shadow was thick enough to hide him, especially with his attire that blended with the darkness
He is wearing a black shirt with skeleton bones printed as it's design and black cape with hood
He leaned against the wall covered with paints and dirt, ignoring how it clung into his black cape since he have a more pressing matter to worry
His heart rate was speeding from the adrenaline and his stomach churning in pain from hunger
He clutches into the apple he has stolen, hanging into it like his life depends on the fruit as he waited until the shouts of his pursuers fades into silence
When he is met with silence, he lets out a shaky exhale from relief then looks at the fruit
"Heh, I've stolen something! Again! I could be bad you know?! Now I can finally become bad like-" His stomach let out a growl of protest from his distraction, reminding him of why he stole the fruit
He groaned lowly, before he used the sleeves of his shirt to wipe the surface of the apple, and took a bite
The alleyway was silent, void of any noise except the small sniffs that escape him as he continued to eat his food, ignoring the smell of the trashes around his surroundings
When he finishes, he felt his stomach growl once again
"Not enough" He muttered lowly and attempted to stand up, but the shakiness of his leg prevented him from moving
Must be because of how much he forced his leg to run even if he is already exhausted
He stays still, his thoughts filled with emptiness as the glares of the people earlier surface in mind
He look at the ground, his face downcast and empty
What did he do to deserve all of this?
Before he could let himself fall into a slumber and forget his hunger, he saw a shadow standing in front of him. His eyes widened as fear consumed his body, letting his limbs shake like leaves in a storm
They come back? They found me. Are they gonna beat me?
His lips tremble, with his breath shaky and small. The yells and threats then surfaced, leaving his thoughts to internally beg anyone to avoid the trouble
"Hungry?" A soft voice asked
A voice of a female. It is both welcoming and warmth, like a home welcoming you back from your work at a winter month
And that tone/voice, caused his heart to ease
Lloyd slowly looked up, his emerald green eyes filled with fear connected to a pair of grey orbs filled with warmth and kindness
The girl has long wavy brown hair that fades to a bright ginger, and a straw hat on her head with a sunflower as its design
She wears a white blouse, a soft yellow cardigan hanging on her shoulder, sleeves longer than her hand that has sunflower designs. She wears a white long skirt, reaching below her knee
"Hello there. My name is Irene" The girl smiles. Her grey eyes turning into a crescent moon as her lips tugged upward
Her smile affects his surroundings, brightening the shadow and darkness that forms in the hidden corner and replacing it with the comfort of a home and warmth of a soft light
On her hand that is currently presented in front of Lloyd, is a meat bun with a tempting scent that filled his nostrils
Lloyd is tempted to take the food and run, but at seeing the genuine kindness in the girl's eyes with a sense of calmness and peace surrounding her being, his body melted in relief and his fear disappearing like a distinguishing flame
"Don't be shy. Here take it" The girl encourages, with a smile similar to a lantern inside a dark cave
Lloyd hesitantly and slowly took the meat bun. His eyes trailed at the food to the girl with cautions and suspicion in his orbs. But after the scent of the food that entered his being, he did not waste any moment and took a bite
Irene watch with hidden sadness at the sight of Lloyd's dirty clothes and messy appearance. Her heart squeezing as she thought of the suffering the boy has faced behind the show
It is mentioned that Lloyd is kicked out from his boarding school before he turned 10. He was 9 when he have no where else to go
So basically he spent 2 and a half years homeless before he met the ninja and opened the snakes tomb from spite
Lloyd is not a bad person, no he is not, it is the situation that shapes him into the person he is now
"How old are you?" Irene asked as she sat on the ground beside Lloyd, purposely putting space between them to not make the boy uncomfortable
"...11" Lloyd answers hesitantly as he continued to eat his food, his eyes glancing at the bright female beside him
"Why are you helping me? I'm a bad guy" He added, his eyes growing downcast as he recall the thievery he committed
There was a silence, a sounds void of any movements except the soft blow of air. The silence is neither awkward, tense or comfortable. Just a soundless silence
"You are not a bad person" Lloyd perked at the soft answer, his eyes that once landed on the ground flicker to the shadowed face of the female
Irene leaned her back to the wall, the shadow that once covered her face long disappear and is replaced with a soft expression
A expression of understanding and sympathy
"You don't have a choice right? You are hungry, and humans are imperfect creatures that would do everything to survive. In my eyes, the action that you did is a choice you had to do to survive, and you do not have the power to control it" Irene added, smiling symptomatically
Lloyd listen, his dull eyes slowly glowing with life as he digest the words
"It's understandable for most people. Sometimes bad guy has a reason to become bad" Irene maintain eye contact with the boy, her eyes shining with genuin and unlimited kindness
"Some were greedy, others only wants to protect their love ones, and there are somes..." Irene trailed off as she put her hand on Lloyd's blonde hair where the hood dropped down without him realizing
"Who did not have the choice or when time decided their fate"
Lloyd's eyes widened as an emotion swirled inside his orbs, an emotion of a growing admiration and newfound motivation
Irene chuckled at his awestruck expression and then patted his blonde locks where her palm lays with her fingers caressing the tangled strands
"What is your name?" Irene asked, watching as Lloyd started to eat the remaining meat bun
"Lloyd Garmadon" He said proudly as Irene chuckled softly
"Nice to meet you, little L" Irene said as Lloyd grinned
After Lloyd become comfortable with Irene's presence. She brought him in a inn nearby after paying the apple he stolen from the vendor
The vendor was pissed, but after seeing Irene's smile, he easily forgive him
Irene bathed Lloyd and brought him a few cloths that he wanted. Lloyd was guilty at first, but after Irene's reassurance, he openly confesses of his desires
Irene brought him any toys he wanted and payed the inn for months of stay. Not for herself but for Lloyd
Irene also manifest a few of her healing power into the candies she gifted to Lloyd, after seeing the scratches and injuries in his skin
If it's not for the warning that Irene received from Sysa about how she is changing the future event, she would have asked him to stay with her and the ninja
Irene would have not cared about the future, but Sysa not only warned her, and also threatened to force her into a coma where she would wake up the day of the great devourer if she dares to ignore the warning
Irene was confused, mad, and guilty. But obligated and told Lloyd that she has to leave but she would visit and send him foods
Lloyd was sad at first but when Irene took out a large carrot stuff toys that can turn into a bunny, he accepted her conditions
Irene went back to the monastery after bidding a goodbye to Lloyd and cooking him a dinner, then telling him to brush his teeth after he ate
While Irene was cooking the ninja dinner, she did not realize the frown present on her lips that erased the light in her warmth eyes
She is wearing her soft yellow apron with her long wavy hair tied to a ponytail
Suddenly, a familiar voice exclaimed in a tone of disbelief and anger "Who made Irene sad?!"
Irene turns around, glancing at the ninja, Nya and Master Wu waiting at their table with Jay pointing at Irene back's
"It's nothing, brother" Irene muttered, her focus on the foods she is arranging
"It's not 'nothing'!" Before Irene could react, Jay is panicking on his seat
"Did you encounter a bully?! Did someone hurt you?! Wait don't tell me- Someone harassed you-" Before Jay could finish his sentence, Nya covered his mouth with a spoon
"You are being paranoid. Wait for her to explain, idiot. Irene is not the type to close herself. She is always open remember?" Nya deadpanned as Irene silently chuckled in guilt at Nya's word
I am not open as you guys think. I have way too many secrets I could not tell She thought sadly
She glance behind her shoulder, seeing and sensing the concern of everyone in the room for her
That only made her felt guilty, but she forced that feeling inside the dept of her chest
She started explaining the reason for the frown on her face. Purposely leaving the information of the child's name and appearance because of Sysa's other warning, thankfully no one asked
After her story. Nya started to angrily comment about how stupid people are these days, and others agreeing at her words
Zane spoke of humans psychological behavior which earned him a confused expression from the others
Master Wu on the other hand can only watch their interaction with amusement in his eyes
Irene chuckled at their reaction, her chest growing warm at the sight
I'm glad I am reincarnated here She thought as she arranged the table with Nya's help
"Okay, let's eat" She said, sitting between Nya and Master Wu
Before Cole, Kai and Jay could grab a portion of food set on the table. They were met with Irene's blinding smile that has a hidden purpose
"What do we do before we eat?" Irene asked with a calm and soft voice, but the twitch of the side of her lips say otherwise
The three boys glances at the others who have their hand meeting together into a praying position, and they copied their action
"Thank you for the meal" Irene started as the others followed
After they showed their gratitude for their meal. They started eating while chatting. Irene would have scolded them if they speak with their mouths full, but after Irene's scolding during their camp weeks ago. They decided to only chat when they swallow their food
They have learned their lesson. And found out that Jay's little sister is not always kind
Irene looked around, smiling softly at the smiles and laughter that the others erupted
Then her thoughts are filled with Lloyd
Is he sleeping okay?
Will he be okay?
Did he brush his teeth?
She later on shook her head from the thoughts, and focused on the dinner in hand
Meanwhile with Lloyd. He is currently burying himself with the sheets and the stuff toy that Irene gave to him
His eyes are closed, his arms wrapping around the bunny stuff toy with the moon's light illumination through the window beside his bed
He is breathing softly, falling into a peaceful dreamless night

Author∆: I realized that Lloyd normally introduces himself with his name and last name without the middle name when he is still a child
I think it's because he is not aware of his full name yet and only knew when he joined the ninja because of his uncle
Anyway. I just rushed this chapter. It's supposed to be an extra where she meets Lloyd in advance and wants to (kinda) adopt him but Sysa holds her back because it would change the course of the future. Obviously
I was actually planning for Irene to practically take Lloyd in the monastery in advance but it would change the future events. And I need it to stay into the original show. So I change my mind
