C11 - The End of the Beginning
Third person POV
Irene watches with amusement as Cole cling to the wall, refusing to ride on the creature that he currently fears the most
"You guys go on ahead. There's not enough room for all of us on that... thing" The fire dragon looks at Cole with offense
{Stupid mortal} Irene heard the fire dragon scoff, causing her to blink
[Did my creature communication turned on?] Irene asked Sysa through telepathy
[It automatically did] Sysa replied as Irene nodded
[Then why did it not earlier?]
[Creature communication activates when the creature spokes. The Fire Dragon did not speak hence as to why you assume the skill was absent or inactive]
Irene silently sigh in understanding. So the 'Creature communication' skill has already activated. It would mean that Irene would be able to interact with creatures
Meanwhile. Kai, Jay and Zane forced Cole to ride on the Fire Dragon then they went flying away
Irene and Nya stare at each other for a few seconds before bursting out in giggles
"You're brother is interesting. Is he always that protective over you?" Nya asked in which Irene mysteriously smiles, her thoughts filling with date ideas that she could arrange for the future couple
"He is. And I could say the same to you. I saw Kai glaring at my brother"
"Hah! You're the one to talk, your brother were glaring daggers at Kai when we were on the dragon!"
A few minutes later, the boys came back, riding their respective elemental dragon
"We're getting you two to safety" Kai said as they landed on the ground
Nya and Irene glance at each other before they went to ride on the dragons of their brothers
Irene felt the cold air of the night replaced by the warmth of the rising sun. She looks at the sun at the horizon, soft colors played with the plain color of clouds and stars slowly disappearing from the blue sky
Time passed by quickly... It is already early in the morning She thought with a small yawn
Jay turned around to look at her before he patted her head
"You should get some sleep" He groaned, his vocals still damaged
"I will, only after you came back" Irene smiles cheekily as Jay chuckled
{Are you okay?} Irene heard the Lightning Dragon asked, in which she pat it's scale in confirmation and a smile that brightens the area
The dragons, after finding out that Irene could understand them, communicate with her. Thankfully, Irene has a ability that made their situation convenient
Telepathy: Level 15
A ability that transfers information from one person's mind to another's without using any physical contact
However, her MP were slowly used, not that she minds, she will get it back easily anyway
After the ninja had escorted both females to the smiths blacksmith, Irene hurriedly brewed them some teas with the help of her 'Space Inventory'
"Drink this, brother, your throat will recover quickly, I can assure" Irene said as Jay nodded and drank the tea
She then went to Cole and brewed him another different tea that could ease his fear and anxiety, while also brewing Kai and Zane a relaxing tea
Irene knows it is not the time to be brewing tea, however she can't help but look after the four reckless boys. She can see through her skill 'Surgeon Sight' except Zane, how their hearts were beating like crazy for the coming battle. She want to at least help them calm down
After the Ninja gulp down their teas and speak their gratitude except Jay who hugs her. They immediately departed, leaving both the female's to interact with each other
"Can I have a tea too? It smells so good I want to have it myself" Nya asked as she help Irene washes the cups that were used
Irene smiled and nodded, then she immediately started brewing teas that would help them ease their nerves and relax their muscles
The two females then started sharing their stories
Meanwhile
Four dragons are seen swiftly and speeding through clouds and gasses with four individuals on their back
The three ninjas were calmly sitting down on their respective elemental dragons while the other one... Is clinging on the pole of his saddle seat
{Your human looks ridiculous} Lightning Dragon laughs
{Like your existence} Earth Dragon counter, causing Ice and Fire Dragon to laugh. The ninjas would have laughed at the Earth Dragon's word if not for the fact that they could not understand dragons
"E-easy... not so fast..." Cole whimpers in slight fear while the others cheered
"Whoa! This is awesome!" Jay cheered loudly as they flew faster and faster, his voice slowly recovering yet the wheeze remains
"Yes. This is quite fun" Zane agreed while Kai cheered joyfully. It is a moment of joy and adrenaline that teenagers should experience for their teenager days, yet this group is on a mission instead of having fun
"So how do the dragons cross over to the Underworld?" Cole yelled through the pushing wind, his voice muffled but is audibly enough to be heard
"I think we're about to find out..." Kai and the others started to scream loudly as the Dragons fall and dive in full speed towards the ground, creating a whirlwind similar to a spinjitzu around their body
The ninja and dragon then found themselves inside a cave with purple colors glowing inside some cracks through a unknown power
{Speed is the key to cross the underworld. With enough speed and acceleration then creating a spiralling speed similar to a gravitational speed towards a certain spot, the portal will open and let us come through} Ice Dragon said absentmindedly, his voice firm and confident
{Sheesh, as smart as always} Fire Dragon said sarcastically while Ice beamed in pride
{Too bad they could not understand you} The Fire Dragon added with a smirk causing Ice Dragon to sulk
{It would have been convenient if they brought the girl earlier. She not only can understand us, but she is stronger than they are...wait, did they even know?} Earth Dragon asked as Lightning Dragon shrugged
{I assume they do not. She must have kept her strength a secret} Ice Dragon spoke
{Oh well. Who cares? At least she is on our side. Besides, she gives the best pats} Fire Dragon shrugged while Lightning Dragon immediately agreed
Meanwhile when the Dragons conversed, the ninja on the other hand were shouting like their lives depends on it
Cole opens his eyes when he feels the absence of the sickening speed, his hand gripping on his saddle seat
"Is it over?" He asked, the dragon speeding through the caves without any difficulties
"Hardly! I hope these dragons know what they're doing!" Kai shouted through the hollow wind
{We do boy. We have lived for thousands of years to know what we are doing} Fire Dragon said as they follow the path of the cave, the purple cracks on the ceiling and wall providing light
The group split up from an obstacle then met up again. As they fly further to the cave, fires created by air from the wind burst in the crack
The dragons started to accelerate, this action didn't go unnoticed by Kai who told the others to hang on
They went inside a portal, the color blinding them. When they arrived at the underworld, the dragons skid to a stop while the ninja went flying out of their saddle seat because of the lack of grip on their seat and the speed
The dragons laugh at the landing their humans did
{I know this is no laughing matter but that was hilarious} Lighting commented
"Solid ground, we made it!" Cole silently celebrated with his voice echoing
Below them are floating lands above an abyss with staircase connecting to all lands, a place we're Skulkin lives and resides in
The ninja look around
"Sensei's inside" Zane said after glancing at the largest building in the underworld where it is guarded by Skulkins
"They're expecting us" Kai said as they watch and observe as a cart full of waste barrows appears
The ninja then went to use a rock on the ceiling that is similar to a icicle, as a support to hang and try to sneak in
The rock that Kai just hangs lost a piece of its part and fell down, hitting a poor skulkin who is only doing his job, causing him to faint on the spot
Jay jumped and grabbed another rock, only to look up and saw a face of a giant spider whose red eyes intimidated him
Jay tried to warn the others of the spider, but due to his lack of vocal, he could not speak and can only wildly swung his hand and pointed at the creature above them
"Can I be the first to say it's been an absolute pleasure since Jay lost his voice?" Cole said to Kai who nods in agreement
Then they suddenly felt that the rock they are hanging on are moving, with confusion they look up only to see two giant spiders
Cole groaned in disgust at seeing their face then yelled in horror when one of them leaned to him
The other who also witnessed the sudden appearance of the spiders, yelled as they fell to the ground, soon landing on their stomach and coughing
Looks like some four reckless boys will get to have a checkup for some broken ribs
Skulkins are guarding the building, it was until Kruncha witness the Ninja falling to the ground. He turned to his friend beside him
"Uh... if there are more than one ninja, is it ninjas or just ninja?" Nuckal asked as Kruncha turned to him in confusion but answers nonetheless
"I think it's just ninja" Kruncha answers while the ninjas stood up
"Oh, okay. Then, NINJA!!!!!"
The army of skulkins menacingly turned towards the ninja who hurriedly stood and formed a circle in defensive stances with their back each other
"I count ten boneheads to every one of us. I think I like these odds" Cole commented, excited but also anxious
Multiple creatures, similar to a spider called Spykor creature, slowly lower themselves to aid the skulkins using their thread that is attached to the ceiling. This only panics the ninja even more
"Uh-oh. Anyone got any bright ideas?!" Kai asked as the army slowly surrounds them
"Any ideas? I'm still all ears!" He added as he attempted to attack with his sword for the skulkins around him to back away
At that moment, the blue ninja whose vocals were damaged, has an idea
Jay turned to Kai and attempted to speak, but it came out as annoying groaning sounds that cannot be understood. The ninja did not have any choices but to guess and try to understand his tone
Kai looks at him with a sound of confusion while Cole attempts to understand him "You feel a weird sensation?"
Jay shook his head. "You ate an odd crustacean?" Zane asked confused
Jay turned to the white ninja and attempted to answer slowly in hopes of them understanding him, which is to no avail
"I got it. I got it! Two natives on vacation. Huh?" Kai said confidently, thinking his answers were correct
Jay shocked his head I wish Irene was here, but at the same time I don't. I don't want her to suffer from brain injury with these idiots He thought before he cleared his throat
"Tornado of CREATION!" He yelled, his voice regaining back
"Oh" The three ninja spoke in sync as they nodded in understanding and chuckling at their misunderstanding
"Welcome back" Zane patted his back with tone of amusement
"But it could lead to disastrous consequences" Cole reminded
Kai turned to look around and saw the skulkins surrounding them completely "We're about to have a disastrous consequence" He pointed out
"Let's do this" Cole started as he narrowed his eyes and spin "Earth!" He created his spinjitzu
The other ninja followed
"Fire!"
"Ice!"
"Lightning!"
The army of skulkins started to retreat, seeing their actions a threat for their attacks
"NINJAGO!" The ninjas scream as their spinjitzu combined, creating a larger spinjitzu that could destroy everything on its path
Meanwhile
"What are you baking?" Nya asked as he peeked through Irene's shoulder and watched in amusement as she decorates her desserts
Earlier after the boys left, Nya and Irene talk and spend time together to distract themselves from anxiety at their older brother's mission
When Irene asked if she can use their kitchen, the taller girl agree
This leads to now
"Cupcakes! Look, isn't it cute?!" Irene turned to Nya with sparkling grey eyes as she presented a cupcake that had a fire shaped and colored icing, with the cup looking similar to a log
The cupcake looks like a campfire, with small pieces of chopped strawberries as igniting sparks and on top
Nya observes the cupcake with awe, then glances at the beaming short female who can only reach her eye level because of her height
"It is. It's for Kai?" Nya asked as she nodded then presented her the other cupcake on the tray
There are 11 cupcakes on the tray including the fire cupcake
A lightning cupcake with white cup as the cloud and an blue thunderbolt icings with chipped blue berries. It looks like an upsidedown lighting, with a whole blueberry on top
A earth cupcake with brown cup as the ground and piling boulder icing with blackberries as small rocks, plus with large blackberry on top
An ice cupcake with white cup like a cloud and an iceberg icing with snowflakes inside. It has chipped vanilla candy as it's toppings
A tea cupcake with a cup that looks like Master Wu's teacup, and green tea flavored icing. It has chipped mint leaves as it's toppings
A cupcake with a dark blue colored cup and a kitty icing that has dark blue eyes. It has sprinkles, strawberry and a blueberry as it's topping
A cupcake with yellow colored icing and simple white icing with sprinkles and blueberries as it's topping
The other four cupcakes are similar to the four cupcakes of the ninja, except it did not have the same icing shapes since it is designed to be similar to a wing
These cupcakes represent the four ninja, the four current elemental dragon, Master Wu, Nya and Irene
Nya could not help but coo at the cupcakes, it was until she realized something
"Where did you get these ingredients from?"
Irene calmly smiles and puts a finger on her lips with a wink "It's a secret!"
Nya smiled and patted her head, then a certain cupcake caught her attention. With her eyes twinkling in interest, she gingerly grabbed the kitty cupcake
"Oh! I got the inspiration to create that cupcake from you"
Nya turned to look at Irene with a look of confusion
"You see the blue eyes? I made it the similar color to yours! I made it a kitty because it looks cute. Do you like it?" Irene asked as she pointed at the blue eyes
Nya smiles and nodded, then she fondly messed her hair
"Thank you. I love it"
Irene grined at Nya's beaming smile
"Everything looks amazing! But I don't think it would be enough" Nya trailed off, looking at the small and cute cupcakes that actually look appetizing enough for her to drool
Irene beamed and magically took out a bag full of ingredients "I know! That's why we will bake another batch!"
"We...?"
"Of course silly! I will teach you my famous cupcake special!"
For a few hours, both the females have baked two more batches. This ended up in them playing with the remaining flour after they put the last batch on the oven
Their childish laughter only stopped when they saw the shadows on the surface that are caused by a large black cloud as a symbol of darkness has finally ceased
Nya and Irene glance at each other before they start to brush the flour from their hair and clothes, giggling multiple times at their disheveled appearance
They heard the distance flapping of wings, this caused the two female to run outside at the same time Kai's dragon appeared
"Kai!" Nya yelled as she ran to her brother who jump down from his dragon, and embraced him
Irene smiles at the sibling, then she turned at Jay who jump from his dragon and open his arms
The other ninja also jump down from their dragon, watching the interaction between the smith siblings
"Brother Jay!" Irene grin as she run to Jay, tackling him to the ground while giggling
"Awh! You're heavy" Jay playfully commented, which received him a smack on the head
"I see your voice is back, congratulations. But you seriously should not say that to a woman. You should be grateful that it is me, or else you would get a kick on your you know what" Irene laughed, standing up and pulling Jay on his feet while he groaned
Irene felt Nya's aura standing a few meters behind her. Nya's aura is similar to a normal human, but inside and her inner side, there is a small aura of a peaceful ocean. It is undoubtedly her hidden elemental power
With a small innocent smile that secretly hids a grin, she pulled Jay hard towards her and swiftly step to the side
Jay let out a shout of surprise before he found himself falling to the ground, before he could balance himself, he felt a pair of arms holding his shoulder and steadying him
"Are you okay, Jay?" Nya asked in concern while Jay gaped
Kai frowns at seeing the interaction between his fellow ninja and sister, but it turns into a smile when he caught a sight of his sister giggling at Jay's gaping form
He heard a soft giggle beside him, he turned towards the sound and saw a grinning Irene
"You did this?" Kai asked, knowing the answer
She just winked playfully, this erupted a chuckle from the red ninja
The citizens of Ignacia cheered from the success of the ninja's mission in saving their land, for now
"I'm so happy you're back" Nya said through the victorious cheers
"For now...but it's not over. Lord Garmadon will return" Kai commented, his words caused the excitement of the citizens to quickly turn to worry
The atmosphere also turned solemn and tense
"And we'll be ready for him" Cole spoke, bringing the cheers back again and breaking the solemn silence
"Yeah!" Cole exclaimed as he pulled out the Scythe of Quakes and raised it on the air. The other who saw his action also copied him
Irene, who is standing between Nya and Jay, gasp
"Wait— No—"
When the Four Golden of Spinjitzu collides, a huge burst of energy came from its power, creating a large explosion and blast that throws them across the ground, erupting some gasp from the crowd
"Okay, we gotta remember not to do that again" Kai cough as he and the others slowly stood up
"Good idea" Cole agreed as they walk back to their previous position
"Yeah, we'll stick to high-fives instead" Jay groaned as Zane nodded and agreed
"Agreed"
Everyone laughed
"Was that a joke?" Zane asked in confusion
Irene went inside the blacksmith while the laughter continues, she chuckled lightly at the hilarious moment
With a hum, she open the oven and took out the last batch, then with a flick of her finger, the berries and the icebag floats
In a few seconds, the cupcakes are finish and is perfectly designed
Before she could go out of the kitchen, she heard the sounds of running footsteps
With furrowed eyebrows, she felt multiple auras chasing a familiar brown and black aura
"Desserts?! There's desserts?!" Irene jump at the loud appearance of the famous dessert lover
"Yes" She smiles, shaking her head lightly as she watch the other ninja crowding the kitchen
"Cupcakes!" Jay cheered as he tries to reach the tray, which he pulls away the moment Irene threaten to slap his hand
"Can I have one?!"
"It looks so good!"
"Wow! Look at the designs!"
"It looks amazing!"
Irene let out a sigh at the impatient ninjas. The scent of the cake must have caught their attention from outside
"Calm down. Everyone has their own okay?"
In the end, Irene and Nya with the help of Zane was able to bake a few more batches because of the crowd outside
Everyone was amazed at the designs and the flavor, it melted their tongue with the flavor exploding in their taste buds
Even the dragons commented about it, finding it adorable and thoughtful
When the day ends. Kai asked Nya to come with them, which she did not hesitate to pack their remaining objects
The citizens spoke their gratitude and goodbyes before they went to the monastery on the dragons
The dragons bickering were adorable, they are arguing about whose cupcake were the best in within their circle
Their bickering only ceased when they arrived at the monastery, Master Wu waiting for their return
The ninja immediately went to the longues to rest, while Kai give Nya a tour around the place
Irene went to Master Wu's room and give him the remaining tea cupcake, in which he give her a pat on the head in gratitude
She then went to the lounges with a med kit on her arms. When she arrives, she smiles in amusement at the groaning three ninjas
"I hope you guys did not have any serious injuries" Irene commented
"..." The ninja went silent
Irene slowly turned to each of the ninja with a blank innocent expression that actually looks menacing in their eyes
"..."
Kai and Nya came back to the lounge, blinking in confusion as they stared at the three ninja who had bandage wrapping around their body, making them look like dead mummy
"You did not tell me your sister could be horrifying, Jay" Cole commented as he drank a liquid from his cup with his face twisting in disgust
"What is this anyway?" He added as he looked at the dark purple liquid
"It's a medicine Irene created, I don't know how but it is effective" Jay said as he also takes a sip on his own
"It is indeed a very effective medicine. I can tell she is very informative and resourceful about medicine, is she an apprentice of a doctor?" Zane asked in interest as he observed the medicine
"Oh... Well, remember the time I've bragged about her graduating early as the youngest surgeon in Ninjago? It is the truth"
Cole accidentally spits a gulp of medicine from shock while Zane's eyes largen
"You mean the time you said she graduated with a diploma at the age of 13?! I thought you were kidding!"
"What is going on here?" Nya asked in confusion and also shock from information she had not heard
"We denied Irene's help of giving us medical attention, she got irritated and this happens" Cole said as Jay turned to Kai
"Kai! Run before Irene came back—" Jay's sentence was cut off by a smack on his head
"Huh? What do you mean, brother?"
Jay paled from Irene's darkening smile. Irene may be kind and sweet, but she could be terrifying and Jay knows what she could be when she's pissed. He has experienced it first hand
"Ah... Kai" Irene's smiles widened
Kai felt a chill running down his spine at the sight of the girl slowly walking towards him, with the ninja behind her shaking their heads
"Uhh"
That night was one of the eventful and the first time they have experienced Irene's hidden irritation
She could be terrifying when she is irritated, imagine what would happen when she is mad
The next day, everyone takes that day to relax and rest, recovering themselves from the mission
After breakfast, Irene went to Master Wu for a discussion
She persuades Master Wu to let her join the team, and also asks for the permission to become their medic
He hesitantly agreed, but then fully trusted her the moment she showed her diploma as proof of her experience and profession
And that's how she became the medic of their team, that soon became their healer in the near future
