N was surrounded by corpses, hundreds of broken drone bodies lay around him as he spun in circles where he stood, god damn it.
The angel had only wanted to kill Rebecca, but all the other cheerleaders came in at the wrong time, so he had no choice but to deal with all of them at once.
He'd already eaten the insides of most of them, but scraps of their bodies were clearly displayed all around the hall, plus there was obvious oil stains from where N had rather brutally torn them to shreds. He had no time to be gentle or moral is his killing.
"What...what the fuck?!?"
No- she wasn't meant to see this!
N turned around quick to see Uzi and Thad standing in the doorway of the hall, Thad was shaking with fear while Uzi seemed more enraged than anything else. Though it wasn't certain who the aggression was aimed at- Uzi's visor was glitching so it was hard to tell- plus there was no shock or sadness in her tone...she was just angry.
The angel stammered and attempted to explain himself- but no excuse could change what was very obvious- he even had oil stains around his mouth for goodness sake!
"No. Just no N. Thad go call for help- I'm talking to this idiot now!" Uzi yelled, making Thad behind her instantly run away. He was terrified anyway- might as well get out and be somewhat useful.
N was paralysed with fear- he knew he could easily get out of this- but a part of him was still afraid, afraid of what Uzi would think of him now. He had ruined her illusion and torn down her expectations. He was no angel.
Uzi marched towards N and grabbed his collar, pulling him down to her height, her purple eyes were furrowed in fury while his yellow ones hollowed in fear.
"You- You- WHY!?! I trusted you! You said you'd fix things- this isn't fixing things!" Uzi screamed into his face, tears sprung on her visor as it really dawned on her what had happened.
The angel sent to make her life better- the person she'd fallen in love with- was a murderer! How?! Why?! Did she really have such bad taste?!
N looked back at Uzi with wide eyes, he was fixing things- wasn't he? Okay it wasn't the best method but at least he was trying...
Uzi could see the confusion on N's face, and felt her own expression shift slightly, she couldn't help it- he just looked so genuinely apologetic- though Uzi reminded herself it was all a lie. N was liar, heck he probably was secretly a devil! Not an angel.
"I...I thought getting rid of the people making you upset would make you happy...?" N mumbled, almost pleading at his worker. Uzi gazed up at him transfixed, was this really all for her? Obviously it was the wrong way of answering her letter- but nobody ever put in this much effort for her.
Sighing, Uzi loosened her grip on N's collar and scanned the room, it would be horrifying to any other drone that came in- but for Uzi there was almost a small level of satisfaction- everyone who had wronged her was punished...
Don't fall for it Uzi! This is wrong...it's all...
For some reason Uzi could find no reason to be upset, she was more angry at N for lying to her rather than the fact he was a murderer, why she thought like this? She had no idea.
"Uzi...I was told to make you happy...and I can see how wrong I took that...you just made me feel- I wanted to- you seemed happier!" N fumbled over his words, trying to get Uzi to at least look at him.
Uzi turned slowly, but kept her eyes low, "You have about 20 minutes until Thad returns with help- go home at get all of your stuff out of my room- then you have to run, stab me or something so they think you escaped".
N's mouth hung open, a little bit of oil spilt out as he reached for Uzi's shoulder with his stained hands. "Please Uzi- don't make me leave you!" N pleaded.
"20 minutes" is all he got back.
"I..."
"19 minutes"
"I...I'm sorry, you deserve better"
Uzi felt a slice at her shoulder- but still refused to look back. She then heard the sound of wings, and a quick gust of wind hit her back.
N was gone.
She was alone.
Again.
Thad returned around 18 minutes later with a group of adults, Uzi had positioned herself to make it look like N shoved her to the ground and knocked her out, the slice on her shoulder being evidence.
Despite the mass destruction around her, and the concern of thousands of adults being practically screamed in her ear, Uzi couldn't think of anything but N.
He is a monster. He killed so many innocent people.
But he also made me feel loved...he did it for me.
Uzi couldn't tell if she was a victim of Stockholm syndrome or just an idiot. Why should she care at all about that- that- that devil!
Khan insisted on Uzi going home so the adults to clean up and decide what to do next, Uzi's testimony was basically 'my boyfriend went nuts', so she was left alone by the authorities.
As the sad worker opened her bedroom door she was expecting to be able to fall into her mattress and sob- but someone had beat her to it.
N was folded over on Uzi's bed, curled into a boy while sobbing gently, he had shrunk back to his first height and had lost the claws from before. He could have fooled people he was a regular worker.
Though she should have felt nothing for this wimpy sight, Uzi couldn't help but feel her heart break at N, she had never seen him so broken before-
Feel nothing Uzi. He's a monster.
N sat up slowly at the sound of Uzi's door opening, he sighed at the sight of her and pretended not to be upset, he mumbled something about grabbing a hoodie for his travels when Uzi gave him a weak hug.
"You killed so many people, you ruined all their parents lives... did you really think that would make me happy?" Uzi whispered, tears leaking down her own visor. "I...I just didn't understand why people would want to hurt you so bad- I thought they deserved to be punished- and your life would be better without them" N replied, patting the back of Uzi's head.
Unable to resist, Uzi sighed softly into N's chest, she should have yelled- should have shamed him.
But she couldn't. She couldn't be mad at him. Why?
Uzi felt N's hands move down slightly to her waist, she wanted to yell and demand he move his hands, but couldn't deny how comforting it felt- despite everything he still seemed so loving.
Slowly N lifted Uzi up, cradling her in his arms as he placed his head on her shoulder, she was so warm...
"Uzi, I'm going to be banished to hell for this, and that's fine by me- I know I deserve it, I'm sorry for all the damage I caused, you should have a better angel" N mumbled into Uzi's neck, making her shiver slightly. "N...do you love me?" Uzi asked, wrapping her arms around N.
The angel shuffled where he stood "I didn't think I did, but when I realised that nobody cared for you- it made me so upset- I thought you deserved far more love than anyone was giving you...and it broke me" N's voice was practically a whisper.
Sighing, Uzi lent up and kissed N's cheek gently, it was just a peck- but a small token of appreciation for his care. "I wish you never took it this far N, I don't think I can forgive you for what you've done, you could have just loved me yourself" Uzi claimed, trying for escape N's embrace.
"Would you have loved me back?" N quickly asked, his voice shaking with anticipation. "Yes, but I don't know if I can now" Uzi replied, her tongue tingled as she lied.
Why aren't I more angry?!? I should be shoving him away not kissing him!
It was N's turn to sigh at Uzi's mixed expression, he placed her down and turned towards the vent above her room, it led back outside.
"If heaven lets you back in, tell them I don't need another angel, I'll figure this out on my own" Uzi ordered, sounding a mixture of disappointed and confused.
N nodded and placed Uzi down, without another word he leaped into the vent, leaving Uzi alone in her room.
He's gone. I'm alone again.
