Rafe and Wynonna left the cave, soaking wet and shovels left behind. As soon as they exited the cave, they were met with such force of heat.
There was only a slight breeze but nothing more. Wynonna could feel herself starting to sweat, or maybe it was just water, whatever it was, she felt herself burning under the sun.
"Well, we got the time capsule, and..." She trailed off as she noticed the look on Rafe's face.
"What?" She questioned, and he turned his body to face her, and he held out his hand.
"Give it to me." Wynonna raised an eyebrow at him, but she shook her head.
"No way, there's some personal shit in here." Wynonna told him, and Rafe rolled his eyes.
"I'm not asking, Nonna. Give me the letter." She took a step back from him,
"You used me, didn't you? Your dad told you about the letter, right? Told you to get close to me, huh? What the fuck, dude?" Wynonna questioned, but then again it was her own fault for trusting Rafe.
"I just need the letter, Nonna. I'm not gonna hurt you. Nobody is." Rafe said, stepping closer to her, but she kept backing up.
"This letter explains why my parents have to die, right?" Wynonna looked down at the time capsule before looking at Rafe.
"I can't give it to you, so, uh..it was fun while it lasted, bye!" Wynonna turned around and bolted.
"Wynonna, get back here!" Rafe shouted after her, running after her.
"No thanks!" She got off the beach and into the sidewalk. Since it was morning now, people were out.
"Sorry!" She threw an apology to the person she almost ran over. She ran across the street,
"Nonna!" Rafe's voice was getting further, but Wynonna wasn't risking it. She kept running, her body full of adrenaline.
"Birdy!" She came to a stop and snapped her head towards the shout, and she smiled as she saw the twinkie.
"Wynonna!" She glanced behind her and cursed, Wynonna saw the pissed look on Rafe's face, and she bolted towards the twinkie that came to a sudden halt.
The door slid open, and Wynonna jumped in, "drive!drive!" She shouted, and the twinkie moved,
The door slammed shut, and JJ turned to look at Wynonna, who let out a small laugh. "You guys have such great timing!"
"Boy!? Birdy, what boy!?" JJ interrupted her, and Wynonna frowned, and she looked away from him.
"Well, there wasn't a boy, I um..kinda lied about that." She said,
"Oh, thank god." John B breathed out, and Sarah smacked him in the arm.
Wynonna noticed that everyone was in the twinkie, and she was leaning on kiara and Pope, getting them wet.
She sheepishly smiled at them before moving.
"Why are you soaking wet?" Kiara questioned, looking at Wynonna
"Oh, I almost drowned." She replied with a shrug,
"What!?" Almost everyone shouted, looking at Wynonna like she grew two heads.
"Okay! Stop shouting at me, I'm having a mental breakdown, okay? I've been making bad decisions since I found out my parents were murdered!" Wynonna snapped before letting out a deep breath.
"So..you did see my message?" JJ spoke up after a minute, and Wynonna nodded.
"Unfortunately, yeah, but I didn't text you guys anything after that, must've been Rafe, that scheming weasel." She said, shaking her head.
"Rafe!? As in my brother, Rafe!?" Sarah exclaimed, turning around in her seat to look at Wynonna with wide eyes.
"Like I said, I've been making bad decisions, " Wynonna replied, frowning, looking down at the time capsule in her hand.
"My mom was alive for another hour. She was transferred to the hospital where she died, and apparently my aunt knew, and she's scheming something with ward fucking cameron, " Wynonna looked at Sarah,
"You're..not gonna like turn out to be a weasel like your brother and father, right?" She questioned, and Sarah glanced at John B who shrugged,
"No."
Wynonna nodded her head, "Good, oh, you boys remember the time capsule?" She held it up with a grin.
"You unbuired it?!" Pope questioned in disbelief, and Wynonna nodded
"Hence, why I almost drowned," she opened the time capsule and looked inside,
"Oh fuck, it's not in here." She said, and JJ moved to sit beside her, grabbing the time capsule, and turning it upside, all the stuff falling into the van floor.
"What were you looking for? Is this..seaweed?" Kiara questioned, a look of digust in her face.
"Don't ask." John B, Pope, JJ, and Wynonna told her, and Kiara shared a look with Sarah.
"The letter. The letter my mom gave me that day. Sarah, you told your dad about that letter, and now he's after me, along with your freaking weasel of a brother for that letter, God, can't believe I trusted that jerk." Wynonna crossed her arms over her chest.
"Okay, can we talk about how you were hanging out with Rafe? A fucking Kook, as a matter of fact, Rafe motherfucking Cameron?" JJ questioned, angrily.
Wynonna looked at him, and she's never seen him that pissed before. He never glared at her before, but all she did was crack a half smile.
"I'm having a mental breakdown, JJ. My mind isn't exactly right, right now, okay? I've been making bad decisions, sue me, but it's better than depression, right?" Wynonna said, her eyes glancing around at the others before they met JJ'S blue eyes.
"I can't go back into depression, I'm trying to focus my mind on something else...and..and Rafe was there when you sent me that message, JJ. So, sue me, that I trusted him, and I'm not the one leaving me behind." She said,
JJ angry eyes turned guilty. "Birdy...we.."
Wynonna cut him off, "JB, stop the van."
"What? No!" Everyone started to protest, and Wynonna moved past JJ and swung the door open before jumping out.
"Birdy! Wait, let me explain!" JJ jumped out right after her.
Wynonna turned around and faced him, "what is there to explain, JJ!? I am having the shittest week of my whole life! I found out my aunt has been lying to me! You ditched me! Rafe fucking betrayed me! And I am trying so hard.." her voice wavered a bit as her eyes watered.
"I am trying so hard not to freaking fall into a deep depression right now, okay? I still need to find that letter.." She saw the others behind JJ, and she looked at John B.
"You have no right to judge me, when you're dating a kook," she looked at Sarah, "you have no right to judge me, when your cheating on Topper, and you ghosted me,"
She looked at Kiara and Pope, "You have no right to judge me because may I remind you, you may be an honory pogues , a pogue by heart, but you're still a kook, and you have no right judge me because you've done some stupid shit,"
Her eyes met JJ'S again, "you all told me you were busy when you were just hanging out together, so, yeah, I went to Rafe because he was there, shit, he even helped when I was stuck inside of the police station, he kept me from drowning, and he still betrayed me,"
"I'm sorry, but I am literally having a shitty week, and I don't need you all to judge me. Thanks for the save, but I'm fine to walk home, or God knows where!" She turned and walked away.
She heard footsteps behind her, but she didn't glance back.
She saw the twinkie driving past her, but there were still footsteps behind.
She wiped her tears and sniffled. She looked down, pausing her steps.
Two arms wrapped her, and she let out a sob.
"My..My head is so fucked up, JJ." She cried out, and She turned around, hiding her face in his chest, and he just held it.
"It's gonna be okay, birdy, cause I'm gonna be here just like last time, I'm always here for you, birdy. Even if you yell at me." JJ whispered, and Wynonna whispered.
"I didn't yell at you, I yelled at everyone else, but you, I just can't.."
"I'm so sorry."
