I crawled on to the sand, shaking my body to rid the water that covered it, drops of water flying onto the sand and surrounding rocks, darkening the spot they landed on. I shuffled through the sand, it clinging to my feet as I walked towards a nearby village. The feeling of soft sand soon being replaced with sharp stones as I journeyed through, what I'm guessing, the main road.

Is that what a human cave looks like? I thought narrowing my eyes at the abstract structures, the windows blackened from the closed curtains.

The road was quiet. Assuming the whole village was asleep, I started skipping, not so cautious anymore with my movements and how quiet I was. That was, until I heard a group of loud humans.

I ducked behind the closest cave, peeking my head out to see the humans, arms stretched over each others shoulders as they tried to walk in a straight line, laughing loudly, their faces flushed with a shade of pink.

I breathed a sigh of relief, their drunk, if they see me now, they probably won't remember me when their sober.

I sneaked passed the men and explored more.

I was on land for about an hour before returning to the ocean. While swimming back to the neighborhood I caught a glimpse of something moving. I couldn't see much, considering it was night. I didn't see anymore movement so I guessed I was seeing things or it left. I heard swimming from behind me. Fast swimming. I turned around to be met with a shark swimming full speed at me, mouth wide open. It snapped its jaw shut just as I moved out of the way. I swam as fast I could, in as many zig zags and circles as I could to confuse the shark. I started confusing myself, losing track of where the neighborhood is, but I could care about that later when a hungry shark isn't after me. My heart was beating far out of my chest, I'm sure my eardrums would burst from how loud my heart was. I looked behind me, no shark, just dark, deep, blue, salty, water stretching for miles.

How far did I go?

The panic that had just disappeared returned, but not because a shark was after me, but because I was lost.

I'm lost, I'm lost, I'm lost. How am I supposed to get back home?

I swam up to the surface to see if maybe there was any trace of land or some kind of landmark to lead me back home.

None.

Nothing at all, just more and more miles of water.

I slapped my hand on the surface of the water, the droplets attacking my face. I was so frustrated, and scared, and tired from all the swimming. Trying to stay positive I look up to take a deep breath, when I felt drops of water fall on my face, this time it wasn't from my splashing, it was from the sky. I opened my eyes to see dark grey clouds, the moon light dim behind the thick clouds.

"Can this day get any worse!" I angrily shouted to nobody.

I tried going back under, right when a giant wave stopped me. My body limp against the strong waves.

Fighting won't help, it'll probably cause injuries. Just go under in between the waves.

It was impossible. The waves were too big and too strong to even attempt getting away.

Is this my punishment for disobeying the rules?

I had lost all hope.

This is the end.

Right as I thought that, I hit a rock, hard. I felt my neck snap back as my head and back both hit the jagged rock. I thought of the human world and how much I want to explore it all before I die, the last thing I saw before I blacked out was my siren features turning to a humans.
