It went on for a while. Iykas complaining, I mean. She just kept and kept on going about everything 'wrong' with my decision to not find a different host and placing her soul inside of a beastman - especially a Black Cat.
It was honestly starting to sound very irritating - almost like she wasn't thankful at all that I had literally just freed her.
I mean, who knows how long she has been chilling inside of my soul now? So genuinely don't see the problem with her revival right now in this new host body.
Eventually - and thankfully - she would stop, puffing up her cheeks at the end before turning her back on me. Don't know about you all - but we only ever had 1 interaction before this, and that interaction was a battle...
Yet she acts like we have known eachother for god knows how long. She acts like we're just a couple of old friends or something.
Which... I suppose is nice?
I mean, I'm glad I'm not being viewed as an enemy-
If you were viewed as an enemy, you would have nothing to worry about.
Her Magical Energy is far, far below yours.
....Well, that is ONE way to insult someone without actually insulting them or calling them weak or something.... Ancient One, I think you shouldn't be so...
So what?
..Nothing.
I sighed, before looking at Iyka.
Afterwards, I simply walked up to her from behind, before reaching out my hand for a handshake.
"I realised that we never introduced ourselves properly. So, allow me to start - I am Faofa Shin."
The fox... Cat? Looked at me with a still slightly disappointed and disapproving glare, however simply sighed before turning to face me and shaking my hand.
[Iyka] "Iyka. Just - Iyka."
Iyka huh? Well, certainly an interesting name. It feels... Good? I guess? - to finally learn her name after so long.
Especially when I thought she was dead the whole time.
After our handshake, I asked her for just how long Iyka had been sitting inside my soul, which is when I learned that apparently, she had been inside it ever since I 'killed' her.
Now I at first had no idea how that was possible, however I would then remember one crucial detail from that day.
'After she 'died'... Devourer did activate..'
I thought, before scratching my chin lightly. At the time, I was confused onto why it even bothered activating, seeing as it seemed like there was absolutely nothing to absorb or 'Devour' - however, I suppose now it makes sense not why it activated...
It must have detected Iykas fading soul or something and quickly Devoured it before she could full disappear or something?
That's my guess at least.
Iyka seemingly noticed my thoughtful state, as she raised an eyebrow and crossed her arms.
[Iyka] "You're going to take all day to think over this entire event or will you start moving so we can leave this place?"
She asked.
Sassy much? I sighed heavily, rubbing the back of my head.
"Sorry, got lost in thought."
I replied before looking around. Strangely, despite the boss being dead, the exit point hadn't opened yet. Which was definitely strange, as usual after the boss is killed, the exit would immediately open without a delay.
Something isn't right.
I sense a powerful aura nearby.
'Yeah I picked up on it as well..'
And it seemed like Iyka also picked up on the aura, as she was frantically looking around, with a defensive position. Seems like the fight isn't over yet.. There is another opponent left to fight.
Or at least, I believe that there was another opponent to fight before we could leave.
I activated my 'Overworld Detection' to its maximum output, scanning the area around for even the slightest movement that wasn't me or Iyka. At first, there were no results. The skill picked up no suspicious activity or movement.
It honestly almost led me into a full sense of security.
However...
[Iyka] "Over there!"
Iyka announced creating a small blue orb of flames before throwing it to the furthest corner of the room. Unlike the last time I fought her, the blue orb of flames was much smaller than they were back then as well as it had a lot less power to it.
It just barely even managed to reach the corner, before creating a small explosion. Iyka looked a bit embarrassed and angry.
[Iyka] "This is exactly why I don't like this host body... I can't utilise my spiritual energy to its maximum inside a body trained as a martial artist!"
She complained.
I'll be honest, with this new information - I could kind of see why she was upset...
Back when we fought, she was primarily a ranged fighter, but right now, the body she now has wasn't trained for ranged.
Or at least, it wasn't trained for that according to her...
I sighed, before looking at the corner. A second went by, before 3 red eyes lit up inside the corners shadow. Then, a large, serpentine like dragon with a pair of arms on it exited the shadows and revealed itself before me and Iyka.
Iyka backed up a bit.
[Iyka] "A.... A Greater Dragon?!"
Iyka stated with a slightly concerned voice.
Greater Dragon? The fuck is that?-
Pretty self-explanatory, however I shall explain in little bit more detail.
Greater Dragons are some of the strongest NORMAL dragons that exist.
'I'll assume that "normal" is referring to them not being any of the Primal Dragons.'
I thought, before exhaling.
I won't even bother checking its status, as I'll probably wipe the floor with this oversized lizard... Snake... Thing, within seconds.
The Greater Dragon roared at me loudly, before charging up a fire breath and firing it off towards me and Iyka.
Iyka immediately jumped behind me, hiding while she trembled like a little child. Not going to lie - in this moment, her acting as a child while also inside what looked like a childs body was kinda ironic...
Anyways, as the fire breath drew closer, I simply exhaled, before snapping my fingers. In an instant, a black hole appeared right in the path of the fire breath, which absorbed the entire fire breath.
Afterwards, I made the black hole disappear, before unleashing the fire breath back at the creature, using a miniature black hole in the palm of my righr hand to fire out the fire breath as a sort of 'beam' or something.
The Greater Dragons eyes slightly widened as it was struck by its own fire breath, kicking up a thick cloud of smoke around its head.
The dragon shook its head, before roaring loudly once more.
The Greater Dragon seems to have
[Fire Immunity].
Thought as much...
No big surprises there.
I simply sighed afterwards, before using 'Limitless Acceleration' to quickly dash up above the dragons head, summoning a Venomous Scythe before infusing it with 'Abyss Magic'.
Afterwards, I leapt down at the dragons head, cleanly slicing off its head and killing it instantly without breaking a single sweat.
Iyka watched in utter disbelief and shock at just how fast I managed to take down what usually would be an imposing, almost untouchable, creature, in just mere seconds.
After landing onto the ground, I made the scythe disappear, as the dragons severed head fell to the ground behind me, followed by its body a second later.
Honestly, it looked extremely cool - reminded me of those 'badass' scenes that some protagonists of popular anime and manga would have back in my old world.
Iyka was still standing speechless, before shaking her head and walking over to me.
[Iyka] "So uh... I know that slaying strong opponents with ease is kinda your thing and all... But don't you think this is kinda getting out of hand..?"
I looked at her with a confused gaze, crossing my arms.
"Whatever do you mean by tha—"
[Iyka] "Nevermind. Forget what I said."
Now she seemed... Upset? Disappointed? It was kinda hard to tell. But she was upset or disappointed, then I wonder why exactly she was like that...
Did I say something out of the ordinary or something?? I know I'm dense and stuff, but surely I didn't say anything that bad.
Iyka would turn her attention to the slain Greater Dragon, sighing lightly as she walked up to its head and placed her hand onto its forehead, closing her eyes in the process.
I watched in slight confusion onto what exactly she was doing, until I saw a strange colourless glow appear around the Dragons head and then slowly enter Iykas body through her arm.
'Is she... Absorbing something?'
Indeed she is.
This is a Spiritual Technique, which allows someone to absorb the entire Spiritual Energy reserves from a certain individual.
I see...
So in a sense, it is similar to my 'Devourer' or... 'Black-Hole Starvation' would be more accurate now. She can absorb energy and use it as her own.
Interesting...
As Iyka finished up her absorption of the Spiritual Energy from the Greater Dragon, she exhaled before forming a much more impressive orb of blue flames in her other hand.
It wasn't anywhere near the size I had seen when she and I first fought, but it was somewhat bigger than the one she tried to launch at the Greater Dragon while it was hiding.
Iyka sighed, causing the Blue Fire to disappear.
[Iyka] "It's better, but not enough."
"...Not enough for what?"
Iyka glared at me - almost like she was pissed off at me for even thinking of asking that.
[Iyka] "Not enough to change this body structure obviously."
...Change it's Structure??
The hell—
Spirit Type beings such as Iyka, are able to bend the elements that make up a physical body, as long as they had sufficient Spiritual Energy.
Most of the time, this is used to appear younger than they are.
'And I'll guess she wants to use it to make herself look like she used to..'
Indeed.
I thought as much. A bit... Much if you ask me. I seriously don't get what she doesn't like about her new host body, but whatever.
I guess it doesn't matter.
I sighed heavily, before a sudden sharp feeling hit me, causing me to sway lightly. Iyka noticing this, immediately rushed to my side, catching me and preventing me from falling to the ground.
[Iyka] "Hey Faofa, you okay?-"
This sharp feeling....
Something bad has happened.
I hypothesize that the sharp feeling is a distress call from—
'Say no more.'
I immediately regained my balance, before using 'Dimensional Door' to open a crack infront of me and Iyka that led out of the dungeon.
Iyka seemed confused and was about to ask something, however I cut her off.
"We don't have time. We must hurry."
I stated, looking back at her with a dead serious glare. Iyka gulped before lightly nodding - signifying that she understood.
Afterwards, me and her entered the crack, as it closed behind us.
'Stay alive Sis... I'm coming.'
