the morning of yuji's birthday, you all got up extra early for the preparations. you weren't doing too much, so all you had to do was wake up before yuji did and show up at his dorm.
you took a look in your closet for a suitable outfit. your eyes drifted to the sundress yuji had picked out for you, contemplating whether it was a good idea or not. you just decided to say "fuck it" and wear it
'i mean, he liked it before?? and plus, it's cute,'
you then did your makeup, hair and grabbed yuji's present, putting it in the back of the car.
you messaged nobara to see how they were going, and if they were ready.

you made your way to yuji's dorm and knocked on the door,
"yuji!!! are you awake?"
"the door is unlocked, come in! i'm in my room," you heard him groggily yell.
you let yourself in and walked into his bedroom. yuji was laying on his stomach, still half asleep,
"hey," you greeted him.
he slowly turned around to look at you. his eyes slightly widened,
"w-why are you dressed so nicely?? is that the one i picked out for you? uh- don't worry! it's not because you look bad! you look good! i'm just wondering- um, why?" he blurted out,
'oh my god, he's so adorable when he's flustered,'
"come on, get dressed. i'm taking you out," you smiled softly,
"wait! what for?"
"did you really forget? it's your birthday??"
"oh, it is," he looked down, fingers on his chin,
"happy birthday, yuji. now hurry up and change,"
"okay,"
you walked out of his room and waited on his couch patiently. he had a shower and got dressed. it took him about 15 minutes,
"okay, i'm ready!" he said, coming out of his room in a baggy white t-shirt, jorts and wet hair...
"yuji, your hair is wet," you frowned,
"yeah.. it'll dry," he shrugged. you just sighed and brought him to your dorm,
"i'm just gonna dry your hair real quick,"
"okay!" he smiled, "anyways where are we going?"
"secret," you smiled,
"awwww, tell me!" yuji whined,
"nope! i'm even going to blindfold you!"
"i never took you for the kinky type, y/n," he smirked. you just rolled your eyes and tried to dry his hair as quick as possible.

once you finished with his hair, you dragged him to the car and ordered him to put the blindfold on. of course, with him being a teenage boy, he kept making dirty jokes about it, to which you simply ignored.
the drive to the field wasn't too far, only about a 5 minute drive, so you both arrived relatively quickly.
you quickly texted nobara to let her know that you guys were here, then got out of the car. you opened yuji's door for him,
"can you take the blindfold off me now?!?" he asked excitedly. he was like a puppy, it was so sweet,
"nope!" you exclaimed,
"how am i gonna walk anywhere without tripping?"
"i'll guide you,"
"at least let me hold onto your hand! i'll trip!" he whined,
"is this an excuse just to hold my hand?" you teased, "all you had to do was ask, yuji," you swiftly grabbed his hand,
"so what if it was," he muttered underneath his breath,
"huh?"
"nothing.. just take me there already! my eyes hurt,"
"stop whining!" you groaned, leading him to nobara and megumi, who were sitting patiently on the picnic blanket.
you had to give it to nobara. the place looked amazing. it was set underneath a huge tree and there were 3 platters set across the blanket with the cake in the middle. it looked great.
you finally let go of yuji's hand,
"alright, i'll take your blindfold off now," you smiled, excited to see his reaction.
you untied the blindfold and slowly removed it. upon seeing it, he let out a gasp and looked around,
"happy birthday, itadori," nobara smiled,
"happy birthday, man," megumi followed.
you pushed him towards the blanket,
"sit down! i'm hungry," you grinned. he took a seat beside you, and you all gave him your presents.
you payed particular attention to when he opened yours up. he took a good look through the entire book and smiled nostalgically.
when he thanked you for it, he gave you a quick hug to which nobara gave you a wink.

after the picnic was finished, you all packed up and you drove everyone back to the school.
you walked to your dorm and as usual, yuji was following right behind you,
"so, who organised this whole thing?" he asked curiously,
"it was all of us. we all contributed in different ways," you replied,
"oh, well thank you. i couldn't be happier with the picnic. it was awesome," yuji grinned, "well, i'm gonna go back to have a nap now, but i'll swing by later,"
"wait yuji,"
'i'm finally doing it. no im scareddd. whatever just grow some balls y/n.'
"what's up?"
"do you wanna go out to dinner tonight for your birthday? just you and i? like- like a date...?" you spoke softly, looking down to the ground. he stayed silent for a moment. you did as well,
'nonononono-'
"jeez, i always thought i'd be the one to ask you out first," he pouted, "what kind of man does that make me?!?"
you just chuckled at his dumb response,
"so, is it a yes?"
"yeah, i'd love to go out with you," yuji grinned,
"alright, be ready by 6:00. make sure to dress nicely, we're going somewhere fancy, okay? you still have a couple hours to nap,"
"okay. i'll see you soon," he waved and walked off to his dorm.
you immediately shut your door and shrieked. you could not believe that had happened. you had to tell nobara, but you were more worried about what to wear.
