Uzi glanced at the calendar from the sofa in her and N's apartment. In only a week it would be her an N's first wedding anniversary, it was hard to believe so much time had passed already, everyday with N felt too good to be long.
A moment passed and N opened the front door, having returned from work with a large grin on his face, he'd collected good amounts of oil for him and Uzi while also picking up a special gift.
Smiling at her husband, Uzi jumped from the sofa and slammed into him, rubbing her head on his chest while he laughed. "You happy to see me love?" N questioned, sounding smitten as always. It was like he and Uzi would never leave the honeymoon phase.
Without a word Uzi reached up to kiss N's chin, noticing the bag he was holding behind his back, she recognised a bottle of oil and-
"You did not pick me up new boots!" Uzi exclaimed, going back down to her height and snatching the bag from N, sure enough new black platform boots were resting inside the bag. "I found them on the hunt" N explained, nervous for Uzi's reaction. He had nothing to fear however as Uzi simply pounced on him with kisses, dropping the bag so he could carry her in his arms while she wrapped her hands around his neck.
Eventually Uzi decided she'd thanked N enough and pulled back "You're still back early~ What happened?"
N smiled softly and placed her down "V had to get home to her baby". Instantly N regretted what he'd said and slammed his hands over his mouth, Uzi froze at the key word and shivered, it was the way N said it- so sweetly. He'd asked Uzi for her opinion on kids early in the relationship, and she'd always said 'maybe', though hinted it would probably end up as a no. N loved Uzi regardless, and as long as he had her he didn't mind a lack of kids, but it was still a sore subject for the couple.
It especially stung for Uzi, as she knew N was desperate for a kid, she saw his face whenever he got the chance to hold Kieran (V's son), it was brighter and happier than she'd ever seen. Uzi wasn't against having kids because she didn't like them, she actually kinda enjoyed being an Auntie to Kieran, she was worried about screwing up as much as her parents did.
Still, if N was the father, the kid would probably be far better than her. It was a waste for a drone like N not to have kids, since his personality and soul was so pure, and he clearly was built with fatherly instincts. One could argue his original instincts for CYN were almost fatherlike.
"So you like the boots?" N questioned, trying to restart the conversation. "I love the boots N" Uzi replied, pulling on a smile as she reached into the bag again, though she couldn't hide her true feelings from N.
Instinctively at the sight of Uzi seeming down, N wrapped his arms around her neck and placed his chin on her temple. "What's wrong Uzi? You promised you'd tell me when something was bothering you always" N asked, rubbing his hands on Uzi's shoulders as he did.
Uzi flushed at N's action, she loved the way he talked to her, touched her- tended to her. With him she felt precious and protected, a sensation she'd never had before he came into her life.
Why won't I let this perfect being have a baby?
The thought of children crossed Uzi's mind again. Honestly she'd been thinking about it for months, how raising a child would make N feel, and how it may satisfy Uzi's fantasies of a perfect domestic life with N.
She knew having a baby for selfish reasons was wrong, but N had mountains of love to give, and she knew deep down so did she. Maybe not as much as N- but enough for a baby or two.
"N...I...I want...Do you still want kids?" Uzi mumbled, anxiously looking up at her husband, whose face immediately lit up as his eyes hollowed.
HOLY SHIT. It was happening. N never thought- there's no way- Uzi wouldn't change her mind like that, would she?
Stuttering with excitement N replied "Yes- but-but I'm keen for whatever you want". He would put Uzi above having a baby, he knew that her happiness meant the world to him, so the baby would be her choice. Regardless of how much he knew he wanted one.
Sighing, Uzi looked away from N and fiddled with her fingers. "Can..can we have one?" Uzi asked gently.
N's squeal of excitement echoed through the apartment & colony, he couldn't help but jump a little on his feet as Uzi said it, making his wife grin at him. Still in a slightly crazed state N pulled Uzi into a firm kiss, holding her up slightly as her visor became pure purple.
You'd think I'd got him a real puppy he's so excited...
Despite criticising N's enthusiasm in her mind, Uzi couldn't help but grin at N's energy, giving into his slightly giddy state.
"So...where do we get one? I know how humans did it but I know it's different for drones...not that I'm against trying the human way" N teased slightly, though genuinely curious about where drone babies came from. Uzi grinned wider and kissed him again lightly "We pick up a template neural network and then load in 25% of our code each, that makes up 50% of the baby and the rest will fill in automatically over time" she explained.
N nodded enthusiastically for a moment but then froze. "We've cleared the absolute solver from your code so you're clear, but what about my code? I don't know if we should risk disassembly code being passed down..." N explained, sounding sincerely heartbroken.
"Kieran has disassembly code N...and your code would do nothing but benefit a baby" Uzi claimed, lowering herself and walking a bit away from N to drink some oil.
Anxiously N twitched a little where he stood, but sighed when Uzi held the bottle out to him, clearly he had a lot on his mind. He wanted a baby so much- but the idea of his corrupt and dangerous code being handed down was scary- what if the kid turned out to be a monster like him?
As if she read his mind, Uzi turned back to N and gripped his shoulders, "You.Are.Not.A.Monster." she stated- glaring into N's face- "And you will father my children. Got it?"
Blushing at Uzi's command, N nodded and carefully picked her up again, he held her bridal style as he kissed her forehead and sat down on the sofa- Uzi nuzzling into his chest while resting in his lap.
"How about we set up the room tomorrow- then pick the template up once that's done?" Uzi offered, gripping the collar of N's coat slightly as she gazed up at him.
N smiled brightly and ran his fingers through his wife's hair.
"Yes please".
