CHAPTER NINE!

〔 Season one, episode three 〕

𝑪𝑨𝑺𝑺𝑨𝑵𝑫𝑹𝑨 𝑾𝑨𝑻𝑪𝑯𝑬𝑫 𝑻𝑯𝑬 𝑻𝑯𝑹𝑬𝑬 𝑺𝑻𝑹𝑨𝑵𝑮𝑬𝑹𝑺 𝑰𝑵𝑺𝑰𝑫𝑬 𝑻𝑯𝑬 𝑪𝑳𝑨𝑹𝑲𝑺 𝑯𝑶𝑴𝑬, Liza helping the older women who seemed to be injured. She also didn't seem to be able to speak English only her daughter and her husband could. Her daughter seemed to be a few years older then herself and Nick

"How she doing?" Cassandra's stare was directed towards Travis as he walked into the room

"You got anything i could give her for the pain?" Liza asked

Cassandra side glanced Nick, her thoughts going to the stash Madison had gotten for him but he needed them and as much as she hated to admit it these people were strangers. They owed them nothing. It was selfish since they needed them more but she needed Nick more

"Nothing stronger then aspirin"

Cassandra noticed as Travis replied that Liza shot Nick a look, making him glance down.

"Uh, the phone's in the kitchen if you need to make that call" Travis told the older man, which Cassandra still didn't know the name off but she knew he shot there neighbour with no hesitation which made her wary around him — she was smart enough to know there was more to him

"I did. My cousin is coming to pick us up in the morning."

Cassandra watched as the man's daughter looked confused at her father's words. She watched as her injured mother told her not to question it

"Uh, we'll set your mom in one of the bedrooms, okay?" Travis told the daughter

"Thank you"

"Aren't we leaving?" Madison asked a worried tone in her voice

"Yeah, yeah, we will. In the morning"

Cassandra focused her eyes on Madison as she sat with Alicia hugged into her herside. Cassandra was worried with staying the night, she had almost died twice already. She didn't want to try a third a time.

"No Travis we have to go. We're packed, we're ready. We were just waiting for you." Madison replied

"Can we talk about this in the kitchen?"

Madison shot up leaving Alicia's side
"No. This things getting worse not better. It's not safe."

Cassandra quickly replaced Madison spot in comforting Alicia who rested her head on Cassandra's Shoulder

"I shouldn't have left you" Alicia whispered
Only loud enough for Cassandra to hear

"You didn't leave me I told you to go" The brunette replied smiling softly at Alicia as she hugged the girl closer to her. Nick watched there interaction as he stood beside them making sure they both were safe

"Madison I think Travis is—"

"No it's not your place—" Madison mumbled

"I don't wanna stay. I don't— I wanna go" Alicia jumped up running towards Madison and Travis

Travis tried to calm them but Alicia wasn't having it she was scared. They all we're especially Cassandra.

"I want to go to" Cassandra said looking up at Madison and Travis, who both glanced down at the girl. Sympathy and guilt feeling them, she lost her dad today and now she was looking to them, to keep her safe, to make the right call for her life
— she lost her dad today, which meant she was there responsibility now. To be fair Madison had always seen her as hers but now it was real

"Hold on, it is dark. We don't even know if the freeway is passable" Travis tried to reason with them

Nick watched the scene unfold infront of him. He was right, Travis was putting his family at risk.

"You expect us to wait here?" Madison challenged afraid for herself and her children

"'We'd be blind out there. It's Dangerous."

"And this isn't?"

"Inside, doors locked. We ride it out for the night, okay?" Travis questioned "We'll take care of each other. Trust me maddie we'll leave in the morning"

Madison shook her head before walking closer to Travis

"If we're staying here, you have to take care of Peter"

Anyone that could hear Madison knew she wasn't happy with Travis just by the way she spoke.

The family that Travis and brought in had taken Alicia's room. So Nick, Cassandra and Alicia were all in Nick's room.

Cassandra laid between the Clark siblings,
Alicia was drifting in and out of sleep. She was scared so she was trying to fight it but she was also tired. Nick didn't want to go to sleep he laid beside them both his head resting on the head board. He wasn't there to protect either of them and it scared him. He let out a deep breath

"Nick what's wrong?" Cassandra questioned, he dropped his eyes down to meet hers a soft smile appearing on his face, he loved the way she looked at him,
He didn't know how to describe it but he loved It

"Nothing" he mumbled, reaching for her hand. Tracing soft patterns with his thumb as he held it

"Do you remember when we were all little and all three of us could fit in this bed with no problem because Alicia always wanted to join our sleepovers?" Cassandra asked trying to distract him from whatever was wrong since she he wasn't going to tell her but she knew he was lying

"Yeah and I always wanted her to go away because I had the biggest crush on you"

Cassandra let out a soft laugh
"You loved spending time with Alicia dont lie. I had never seen other siblings as close as you guys we're"

Nick glanced at Alicia
"I guess your right. We we're pretty close"

Cassandra felt her eyes get heavy as she listened to Nick's voice, since he was still talking away not realising that she was drifting to sleep until her head fell on his shoulder. Once he did, he looked down at his girl, admiring her for a moment before placing a soft kiss on her forehead

"I love you" he whispered In a soft voice, but fear started to overcome him, fear that he wouldn't be able to keep her safe, fear that he had hurt her one to many times, fear that she didn't love him anymore

"She loves you so much" Alicia whispered which startled Nick a bit since he thought she was asleep, his eyes met his sisters as he listened to her because what neither of them knew was that Alicia had heard there conversation earlier after Nick had thrown up

"She loves you, she's just afraid to get hurt again. She thinks not saying the words will keep her from getting hurt but it won't because she still feels everything for you. But she loves you"

After Alicia had said what she said, she fell back to sleep but Nick couldn't sleep he layed away all night watching over the two

〕〔

Cassandra watched with Daniel, she watched as Madison held the hammer in her hand, she watched the determination in her eyes. She always knew Madison was strong, she got right to the point, adapted. Nick did to and so did Alicia. But the main difference between them Nick didn't have the strength that Alicia and Madison did.

Cassandra knew that if Travis didn't stop her, she would have done it and it would would have been the right thing. She wished she could give her father that mercy

Travis took the hammer from Madison's hand a shocked look on his face. It was almost as if he didn't recognise her

Cassandra turned her head hearing Daniel whisper something in Spanish, her Spanish wasn't perfect but she understood the word he said, a word with meaning

"She's not weak" Cassandra replied, Daniel turned to the brunette in surprise

"Madison Clark is many things but weak is not one of them"

Cassandra turned away disappearing from sight in hopes Madison didn't see her, leaving Daniel in question of both these women. By first look Cassandra seemed weak, quite but it seemed there was something more behind the face she put on and Madison she seemed to be playing an act to, though her real self seemed to slip through now and then

Cassandra held onto her bag as she left the house, passing Travis as she got into the backseat of the car next to Nick. The sound of helicopters above them, making her worry because it sounded like it was getting closer

Once Alica had got into the car, Travis pulled out of the drive way in his truck. Madison following after him

Cassandra sat in the back her hand connected with Nick as she glanced between Alicia and Nick as they looked around the town they grew up in, once they got to the main road she heard Madison yell

"Patrick!" Swerving her car in the other direction "no,no"

Cassandra's eyes widen as the realisation came to her that he was about to walk into a certain death, he had no idea what was going on and Cassandra doubted he would be able to do what needed to be done to save himself — that was his wife after all.
Cassandra knew she wouldn't ever be able to kill Nick If it came down to it.

She glanced at Nick, she wouldn't be able I live without him. The helicopter blades got louder and louder but time slowed down

Madison had jumped out of the car, the three teenagers following after her,

"Patrick that's not your wife" Madison yelled, Cassandra and Nick ran around the corner just in time for both of them to hear a gunshot and watch as Susan fell to the ground in her husband's arms....dead.

Cassandra jumped turning around only for Nick to already have his arms out, ready to hold her and shield her from everything but she had already seen it. The blood spray from Susan's head and she heard her husbands cries — it was devastating, you could truly hear the heartbreak.

She heard voices surrounding them, she felt someone grab her

"Hey don't touch her" she heard Nicks voice as he was torn away from her,
She looked around to see the military surrounding them

We're they safe now?
