Chapter 24: Dinner Plans

As the days passed and Jennie and I continued to bask in the glow of our newfound love, I couldn't help but feel a sense of nervous excitement at the prospect of introducing her to my parents. With each passing moment, the weight of their expectations grew heavier, the pressure to confess my feelings for Jennie mounting with each beat of my heart.
And then, one day, as I sat down to dinner with my parents, they broached the subject of our relationship with a sense of casual nonchalance that belied the gravity of the situation.
"Lisa, darling," my mother began, her voice tinged with a hint of mischief as she exchanged a knowing glance with my father, "we've been thinking. It's about time we met this friend of yours that you've been spending so much time with."
I felt my cheeks flush with embarrassment at her words, my heart pounding in my chest as I struggled to maintain my composure.
"Mom, Dad," I stammered, my voice trembling with uncertainty, "I...I'm not sure if now is the right time. Jennie and I are still getting to know each other, and..."
But before I could finish my sentence, my parents cut me off with a wave of their hands and a dismissive chuckle.
"Nonsense, Lisa," my father interjected, his tone firm but gentle, "we just want to get to know this special friend of yours better. And who knows, maybe we can even help you out if you're having any doubts."
I felt a surge of panic rising within me at his words, the thought of my parents meddling in my love life filling me with dread.
"Dad, Mom," I protested, my voice rising with desperation, "I appreciate your concern, but I don't need any help with my love life. Jennie is the one I want to be with, and no one else."
To my surprise and relief, my parents burst into laughter at my outburst, their faces alight with amusement and affection.
"Alright, Lisa," my mother conceded, her laughter ringing out like music to my ears, "if Jennie is the one you want to be with, then so be it. Bring her to dinner with us on Saturday at our hotel's VIP lounge at 7 pm. We'll be waiting."
With a sense of relief flooding through me, I nodded in agreement, a weight lifted from my shoulders as I realized that my parents' acceptance of Jennie was all I needed to feel confident in our relationship.
And as the day of the dinner approached, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation building within me, knowing that soon I would be able to introduce the woman I loved to the most important people in my life.
