Time:to prove them wrong
Place: the field
Since getting back from school this afternoon Aj had seemed quite agitated and irritable, as she had been huffing and puffing, and acting all around snappy towards nearly everyone. When questioned by her mother, the youngster responded with a terse and short response of "I'm fine", refusing to give her mom any further information concerning the matter. However Nat was determined to get to the bottom of it, she knew Steve would be able to help.
Aj had been sat up the kitchen table for 15 minutes doing homework, it was English so she finished it quickly, however she remained up the table scribbling on the back of her homework book.Usually AJ would have finished her homework and then gone outside to play but she wasn't feeling up to it today.
"Hey Ava, you wanna come on a dog walk with us?" Peter asked as he and Wanda entered the kitchen.
"No thanks" AJ mumbled not even looking up from her paper.
Peter gave Wanda a confused look and Wanda just shrugged,she had no clue why her sister was grumpy.
"What's wrong?"
Wanda asked.
"Nothing" AJ replied.
"Ava something's wrong"
Wanda spoke sympathetically as
she put her hand on AJs shoulder.
"Get off" AJ whined as she shrugged her sister off.
"What's up with you?"
"I said nothing! NOTHINGS WRONG
WHY CAN'T YOU ALL JUST LEAVE ME ALONE" AJ snapped.
"What's going on?"
Steve asked.
He and Nat had been on their way in when they heard their daughters arguing.
"Nothing" AJ mumbled going back to her
Scribbling.
Nat took the pencil out of AJs hand as she sat beside her, AJ went to pick up another but Nat stopped her.
"Baby we can't help you if
you don't tell us what's wrong"
"Mom I'm fine"
"You most certainly aren't"
"I am"
"Aj wanted to join the soccer team at
school but the coach said no because
she was a girl" Wanda blurted out.
AJ glared at her sister "I DID NOT CONSENT FOR YOU
TO READ MY MIND"
"I don't need your consent I'm your big sister and If I'm worried about you, I'm gonna do what I can to make sure you're okay " Wanda snapped back, she probably shouldn't have read Ajs mind but she only wanted what was best for her.
"I don't care if your-"
Aj started but was cut off by Steve.
"Ava hurry up and get changed
Into a soccer kit, get your cleats
And meet me at the car" he ordered.
"What?"
"You heard me come on hurry
other wise the trial will be over
before we get there"
"Dad the coach said I-"
"You wanna play or not?
That's what I thought. Hurry"
Steve said as he grabbed Nats car
Keys out of the fruit bowl.
"You're a good dad" Nat smiled
"I try, we will be back in a bit.
I'm taking your car to make me
look cooler" Steve laughed as he kissed
Nats cheek before heading down to the
garage.

As AJ and Steve walked over to the school field, the coach had indeed been busy and occupied with his duties, as he was looking over the 4th grade boys on the field, as he evaluated them for a potential spot.
"Excuse me" Steve cleared his throat as he walked over to the coach.
"Captain America?" The coach went wide eyed "Mr Rogers sir, pleasure to meet you"
The coach composed himself as he offered his hand out to Steve.
"No formality's it's just Steve I'm simply here on dad duties" Steve spoke as he shook
his hand.
"Oh is one of these boys yours?"
The coach asked and Steve shook his head.
"No this one's mine"
Steve told the coach as he moved
to the side revealing AJ behind him.
"She wanted to trial but you said no"
"I'm sorry sir, the trials are
almost over" the coach told him as he turned his attention back to the game.
"So you're not ever going to give her a chance? What because she's a girl? That's ridiculous. Sexism shouldn't be something we teach our kids but by not letting a girl play, that's exactly what you're doing. Our kids our the future if we want the world to be a better place then we have to teach them right from wrong. As an educator yourself I'd have thought you'd know better"
Steve scoffed.
"Mr Rogers..Steve I'm sorry
but this is a Boys team"
"But you guys don't have
a girls team?"
"No we don't, not enough girls that want to play unfortunately"
"Well my daughter wants to play"
"I'm sorry Steve but I don't
have girls on my team"
"She'd run circles around all these boys
Please just give her a chance"
The coach sighed before looking at AJ
"Alright Aj put a red bib on and get on the
Field. Let's see what you've got"
"You got this kiddo" Steve winked at the girl and she smiled,she knew she was lucky to have a dad like Steve.

After returning home from her walk,Wanda entered the kitchen where Nat had been happily preparing dinner listening to music.
Wanda grabbed a water out of the fridge before sitting up on one of the kitchen counter stools.
"Good walk?"
Nat asked as she continued to prepare dinner.
Wanda nodded,
"Are Dad and AJ back yet?"
"Not yet but I assume they'll be
home any minute"
"You need any help with dinner?"
Wanda offered, she didn't really have much else to do anyways.
"Depends can I trust you to cut
up some vegetables without cutting
a finger of"
"Yes I'm very careful"
And Nat hummed in agreement, Wanda was definitely her less clumsy child. Nat gave her some vegetables to peel and cut.
Nat and Wanda were dancing and singing along to Taylor swift (Wanda's request of course) as they prepared dinner together, displaying a truly sweet moment. Wanda took it all in she was grateful to have a mom.
10 or so minutes later their peacefulness and tranquility was suddenly disturbed and by Steve and AJ, who both sauntered into the kitchen with a lot of energy.
"Ooo what smells so good?"
Steve asked as he hovered
over to the stove trying to grab
a bit of the spaghetti.
Nat playfully slapped his hand away,
"Get out of here greedy, it's not ready yet"
Steve groaned but obeyed.
"So how did it go?"
Wanda asked AJ.
"It was so cool"
"Did you make the team?"
Nat asked.
"Yep but that wasn't even the best
Part you should of heard dads little speech
About how sexism isn't something we should teach our kids because they're the future"
"There's no way"
Wanda laughed.
"It was true though"
Steve shrugged, he was actually pretty proud of himself for keeping his cool,
he was ready to knock the coach out with his Shield for not letting AJ play.
"You guys can tell us all about it at dinner
AJ go wash and get changed,Steve set the table,Wanda go get the others " Nat ordered her little family and they happily obliged and were off rather quickly, they were hungry and Nats spaghetti was top tier.
