CHAPTER SEVEN!
〔 Season one, episode three 〕
𝑪𝑨𝑺𝑺𝑨𝑵𝑫𝑹𝑨 𝑺𝑨𝑻 𝑾𝑰𝑻𝑯 𝑯𝑬𝑹 𝑳𝑬𝑮𝑺 𝑨𝑮𝑨𝑰𝑵𝑺𝑻 𝑯𝑬𝑹 𝑪𝑯𝑬𝑺𝑻 𝑳𝑬𝑨𝑵𝑰𝑵𝑮 𝑨𝑮𝑨𝑰𝑵𝑺𝑻 𝑻𝑯𝑬 𝑪𝑶𝑼𝑪𝑯, every small sound from outside making her jump
"What was that sound?" Alicia questioned her fingers messing with the blinds since she couldn't take her eyes off the houses
"I don't know but it's gone." Madison replied a glass of water in her hands getting ready to give Nick his next dose
"What did Mr. Dawson do to the cruzes?" Alicia continued
"He's gone."
Cassandra's head dropped, she hoped her father never got out of that room. She was stupid. To weak, to navie to put her father out of his misery and now he could possibly hurt other people
"Yeah but what the hell did he do?"
"I don't know. We're safe inside, okay?"
Cassandra's eyes locked onto the pills Nick placed on the table, breaking them down with his glass
"Oh, come on, Nick. Please just swallow them" Madison complained looking to Cassandra for some help
"Nick, please" Cassandra grabbed his upper arm, making him look at her
"As soon as I can take them normally I will. It takes to long to absorb and I feel like shit" Nick replied his eyes connecting with hers, she sympathised with him she didn't want him feeling as bad as he looked earlier but she hated seeing that crazed manic look in his eyes when he was taking the pills
"The idea is to wean you off of the pills, not to get you—"
"Um, who's the expert" Nick joked turning his head to reply to his mother's words
"That's not something to be proud of Nick" Cassandra muttered but he could still hear her, he dropped his head ashamed
"Hey, Mom, I need more"
"No shit" Alicia sighed
"Later" Madison replied
"Well how much do we have?" Nick questioned
"We have enough to get you east. Don't worry" Madison told him
"And then?"
"And then you Howl at the moon" Madison told him "look Travis will be here. We'll go"
Nick shot his mother a look
"You sure?"
"Nick" "–don't"
Both Alicia and Cassandra's warning voices shot out
"He's coming" Madison stayed strong, Cassandra shooting her a nod to try and reassure her She didn't think Travis would leave Madison. He loved her. He loved her enough to deal with everything that was thrown at him.
"He loves your mother Nick. Why do you do that, why put doubt in her head. Don't you think after everything your mother deserves a bit of happiness?"
Nick turned to look at Cassandra, listening to her words he realised he doesn't know why he does it — maybe he misses his dad, he never really got to see his mother greive and move on and the struggle it was. Not like Cassandra.
"I don't know" he admitted

NICK HAD FALLEN ASLEEP WHICH LEFT CASSANDRA ALONE WITH HER THOUGHTS, Cassandra couldn't stop thinking about the fact the only blood family she had was gone, her dad was gone.
The man who raised her even though he never understood her. He still gave her a happy childhood
Cassandra felt tears well up in her eyes, she quickly stood up from her place on the floor startling Alicia as she ran to the bathroom
"Cassandra" Alicia worriedly called out, Alicia stood outside the bathroom door
"Cass, what's going on?"
She didn't understand that the sickness was killing people. Turning them into something....that it was going to do the same to Matt. But even Cassandra didn't understand it fully, because Cal wasn't sick he just turned into one those things after being shot
Cassandra held herself up using the sink, tears falling down her face. She couldn't stop the tears, the pain in her chest
"What's going on?" She heard Madison's voice outside the bathroom
"I don't know. She just locked herself in" Alicia replied worriedly
Cassandra's grip on the sink tightened as she tried to hold in her sobs. She heard Madison's usher Alicia away
"Cass it's me. Let me in" Madison whispered
The brunette slowly unlocked the bathroom door, Madison taking one look at the young girl, tears streaming down her face
"My dad is gone" Cassandra sobbed her legs giving out only for Madison to catch her crumbling to the ground with her
Madison tried to soothe the girl but she couldn't. Madison and Cassandra both had tough father's but Elijah was better then Madisons he actually did love his daughter and did give her good memories
But Madison's was horrible and cruel
"He's gone a-and now I have no family. And I left him there like that" Cassandra sobbed
"What kind of daughter leaves there father as a monster"
"Hey, you don't know what this is, you don't know what he is and I know he would never want that on your concessions" Madison's comforted the crying girl
"We had an argument over Nick the last time we spoke. He told me to get out and don't come back. He told me I was navie little girl for always believing in him, I left him Madison. What if I never left him. He would have been okay—" Cassandra sobbed out barely making any sense but Madison understood everything she said
"Look at me" Madison took Cassandra's face in her hands "it is not on you. If you would have stayed you could have died to and that is not something you deserve"
"I'm going to die anyway. I won't survive this"
"Yes you will. Your strong Cassandra. So strong" Madison told her "and your not alone. Yes. You lost the only blood family you have but you have family, we are your family. Me, Alicia, Nick. And we won't let anything happen to you, Nick won't let anything to you"
Cassandra didn't have anymore energy to speak so she just sat there in Madisons arms crying. Sat in the arms of the closest thing to a mother She ever had grieving her father
After what felt like hours, Cassandra finally calmed down. Madison never left her side for a moment holding her close, letting her know she wasn't alone
"You okay?" Madison questioned once she noticed Cassandra had stopped crying. The brunette nodded sending Madison a grateful smile — she felt bad, Madison's real kids needed her but she was here with her
But there was no way Madison was going to leave Cassandra in the state she was in on her own, she would never let Cassandra feel like she was alone. Cassandra was one of her own children, she watched the girl grow up from the age of twelve, had her over near enough everyday, she was invited to every holiday, even Christmas and other family events
Cass was part of her family, she always hand been and nothing proved that more then when she put her life on hold for them all, after Madison's husband had died.
Madison helped Cassandra off the floor, Wiping the tear stains off her face with a wet cloth
"Thank you" Cassandra whispered with appreciation once Madison was done cleaning the stains off of her tanned skin
"You don't ever have to thank me" Madison told her

MADISON AND CASSANDRA WALKED INTO THE LIVING ROOM, monopoly in Madisons hands
"Really?" Alicia questioned
"Yep"
"Oh come on Alicia it will be fun" Cassandra said sitting on the floor as Nick jumped off the couch
"I'm the top hat" Madison said
"Car" Alicia claimed
"Cat"
"shoe"
"Dad was always the shoe." Alicia said to Nick a sadden look on her face
"Daddy wouldn't mind" Madison told her daughter
Nick started placing out all the pieces of the game teasing Cassandra as he wouldn't give her the cat keeping it in his hand. Madison and Alicia laughing at them, Cass rolled his eyes poking him in the side making him gasp and drop the Cat
She stuck her tongue out at him, making him rise his eyebrow at her she knew there would be dirty joke coming out of his mouth if his mother and sister weren't sitting right next to them
"So what do you want to be, the thimble?" Nick teased his sister
"‐no"
"I'm the car" Alicia laughed
"The car" Nick started searching for the car "the car...I don't see no car" he laughed once Alicia smacked his arm
"Hey, this is not bully Nick day. Mom did you see that I got attacked twice by own girlfriend and sister"
Madison laughed along with the children, her smile brighting once she realised Cassandra was happy and distracted
"Thank you" Madison whispered once Nick passed the rest of the pieces to there rightfull owners
"All right, who wants to go first?"
"Youngest to oldest" Nick replied "I am gonna wipe the floor with you guys. I can feel it."
"In your dreams Nick" Cassandra replied
"Well my dreams seem to come true especially since your always the star of them" Nick whispered in her ear, a small smirk on his face as he saw her face flush red "and I can assure you baby, they are always fun"
"Behave" Cass giggled pushing him away
"This game's evil, dude. Kindergarten capitalism"
"Yeah" Madison agreed with Alicia
"Shut up and roll" Nick said
Alicia rolled first getting a 12
"Ha" she laughed at Nick as she moved her place, Cassandra grabbed the dice taking her turn but she only rolled a 4
When Nick took his turn Alicia and Cassandra shared a look now that he was distracted quickly swiping his money off the side. Holding there laughs in as they did it — Madison pretending she didn't see anything.
The blonde quickly took the dice taking her turn because she knew once Nick realised what the girls had done. All hell would break lose.
Nick stopped laughing soon after Madison's took her turn, noticing his money was missing. His eyes quickly shooting to his sister and Cassandra
"Which one of you took my money?" Nick squinted his eyes at them both, before in one quick movement he hand pineed Cassandra down searching her pockets for his money
She giggled trying to push him off
"No, no" he tickled her as he pulled some of his money out of her pockets. He judge the amount untill the realisation that Alicia had the other half came to his mind
"Alicia run!" Cassandra giggled as she held onto Nick so the younger Clark girl could get away
"Traitors the both of you" Nick shouted jokingly as he tried to get away from Cassandra's grip as she held him down to give Alicia a head start
Madison in a laughing fit at the scence that was going on in front of her. It reminded her of when they where all younger by now her and Steven would have given up with them and opened a bottle of wine and just left them to there own devices but she cherished everything that was going on infront of her eyes right now — she never thought she would see it again
After a while, the trio settled down and they continued the game much to Alicia and Cassandra's disappointment. Nick was winning
"One, two, three, four five and that's Boardwalk" Nick smiled smugly
"Oh, my, God."
"And I will buy that, please"
"All right, all right" Madison gave Nick the owners card
"I think I deserve a part of that. I mean if we ever get married—"
"—when we get married" Nick corrected her
"What is yours will be mine, I think we should start now" Cassandra continued ignoring the warm feeling in her chest when Nick said they definitely will be getting married
"I love you Cass with everything I have.....but not this" Nick laughed "this is my victory"
Cassandra rolled her eyes pushing him away from her
"All right boardwalk sold" Madison announced
Nick started flinging the money onto the bored
"Ohh" Cassandra laughed
"Come, on"
"Hey, hey"
"Clam down" Alicia told her bother "play fair"
"Do not treat the banker like that" Madison said
"Thank you very much" Nick's proud smile plastered on his face "and that's the pair"
"You always get all the good ones" Alicia complained
"It's luck. The same luck that gives me my beautiful girlfriend" Nick smirked at Alicia
"Oh, look at that. I'm crushing you guys. Your pathetic"
But in one second the laughter, the happiness had dropped from the sound of gunshots in the distance. Cassandra's hand instinctively shot to Nick's, he rubbed his thumb over her knuckles trying to comfort her — she remembered nights she heard gunshots and worried for him. If that was him getting shot
Madison froze mid throw probably worried since Travis was still out there
"Mom" Nick said bringing her back to reality as he shifted closer to Cassandra
Madison rolled a seven moving her top hat.
Nick stared at Cass, there hands still joint together
"How long are we gonna wait?" Alicia questioned
"We can go to sleep soon" Madison replied
Avoiding the true meaning in Alicia's words
"Yeah I can't sleep when I'm waiting for someone to come home, neither can Cassandra" Alicia said, Nick eyes shooting to them both guilt in his eyes. He knew that was directed at him
"We can have a movie night" Cassandra told Alicia with a small smile
"Having a major case of deja vu right now" Alicia scoffed looking at Nick, who dropped his head in guilt. Cassandra rested her head on his shoulder, he turned his head wrapping his arm around her waist holding her closer
