Ben Warren was a dedicated cop, always on the lookout for any criminal activity in the city. He believed in upholding the law and putting away perpetrators of crime. He moved from Seattle to Baltimore in pursuit of a big case. Taking down a notorious crime syndicate that he heard about. He knew an arrest in that case could make his whole career. But little did he know, he would meet the one criminal that would change his perspective on everything he believed in.

Miranda Bailey was the head of a notorious crime syndicate, running illegal activities all over the city. She was cunning, and ruthless and had a network of loyal followers who would do anything for her. No one had ever been able to catch her or bring her down. The cops didn't even know she was the leader. She was anonymous. Many thought the leader was a man due to her use of henchmen but those who knew about her feared her.

Ben and Miranda first crossed paths during a high-speed car chase. Miranda was driving a stolen car and Ben was in pursuit. She switched lanes and slowed down allowing him to pass her. Their eyes locked through the window. He stared at her with determination in his eyes. He was going to catch her and arrest her but something inside him shifted. He was immediately captivated by her beauty and her daring nature. At the time he didn't know who she was. He thought she was just someone on a car chase. But later he found out he had just locked eyes with the target of his case.

"What happened out there" One of her men asked when she walked into the warehouse after the chase

"New cop was too busy drooling over me and I slipped past him" She shrugged "You all were sloppy and that's how they caught up"

"Miranda with all due respect" He started to speak but her glare made him shut up "Nevermind"

"You need a reminder of who the hell you're about to address" She snapped

"No" He shook his head

"You are not on my level to be calling me by my name. Never. Mention my name" She gritted her teeth

"He said your name," Another one of her workers asked

"Loud and clear with his whole chest" She nodded

"You bugged" He punched him

"Easy" She yelled at him

"No, she called us sloppy and I was going to say that she was the lookout on that heist and she didn't alert us"

"Cry about it" He shrugged punching him again

"Didn't I say easy" She snapped

"I like punching" He laughed walking away

"Don't get blood on my floor. I don't want blood on my shoes" She walked past the man on the floor

As the months went by, Ben found himself in various situations where he could have easily arrested Miranda, but he always let her slip away. He couldn't bring himself to do it, not because he was afraid, but because he was in love with her.

Her workers were confused about how this one cop was hot on their trail and yet they still hadn't been taken down. They looked toward their boss. She was taunting this cop. She put herself in positions to be caught and yet she didn't get caught. They were at the warehouse relishing in the high of their latest job gone well.

"We're on the top" She raised her glass of bourbon

"To boss" A worker winked taking a sip

"To boss's new boyfriend that cop" A worker laughed

"What the hell did you just say" She pulled out a weapon and aimed it straight at him causing him to quickly stop laughing and drop his glass "And you're breaking my stuff"

"I was joking" He swallowed hard "And I can clean that up"

"Keep playing with me and they'll be cleaning you up" She put away her weapon and sipped her bourbon

After that, no one else referred to the cop that their boss had wrapped around her finger out of fear of her shooting them for sport. Miranda and Ben had exchanged words during their encounters and it was clear there was such an intense tension between the two. But in a way, Miranda was also using Ben. Since he would just let her get away with her crimes she would openly taunt him. During a bank robbery, Ben managed to sneak his way inside while Miranda's men were in there

"Looking for someone" She appeared behind him. He whipped around weapon drawn and stared at her

"You scared me" He sighed

"Look we just want a little money and then we'll be on our way"

"Robbing banks, stealing cars, what else does your crime ring do"

"Gambling "She approached him" I love a good gamble" She laughed. Ben couldn't help but stare at her and be captivated by her beauty and her arrogance.

"Officer Warren is your body cam on" She walked her fingers up his chest already knowing the answer

"Just end this. Quit the life of crime" He took her hand in his

"Can't do that" She shook her head

Ben was torn between his duty as a cop and his love for Miranda. He knew what she was doing was wrong, but he couldn't bring himself to turn her in. He believed that deep down, she was a good person and he could change her.

"For me" He smiled

"Awww you love me and think you can change me right" She pushed him against the wall. She leaned in close, her lips lightly brushing against his as she whispered "I love the tension between us too much to stop"

Without hesitation, Ben closed the gap between them, his lips meeting hers in a passionate kiss.

Fireworks exploded behind their closed eyelids as their hands roamed each other's bodies, exploring every inch. Miranda wrapped her arms around Ben's neck, pulling him closer as his hand slid down her backside, pressing her body against his. They both moaned into the kiss, their bodies craving each other's touch.

Seconds turned into minutes as they continued to lose themselves in the embrace, their lips moving in perfect sync. Eventually, they pulled away, both breathless and gazing into each other's eyes.

"Gotta run" She smirked and ran off

He just rubbed his face and shook his head. This was so wrong on so many levels but he couldn't bring himself to stop it.

Their love became a secret, known only to them. Eventually, they began to secretly meet up and he found himself slipping her information about the case against her. As they spent more time together and started a secret relationship, Miranda started to question her own actions. She had never been in love before and she had never met someone like Ben who showed her compassion and understanding.

During a job, once again Miranda was off with Ben.

"You considered my deal"

"That's no deal Ben" She shook her head. He wanted her to leave this life of crime and they could be together in another state under new names living new lives.

"I don't want you to get hurt or wind up in jail" He sighed "There is a huge target on you"

"And luckily I have a bulletproof vest" She pulled him close by his vest

"Miranda" He whispered. He always felt like he was under a spell any time he was with her. Ben's eyes widened in surprise, but he didn't object as Miranda's hand moved to his crotch. She rubbed him through his pants, feeling him grow harder under her touch. She could feel the heat between her legs increasing as she continued to tease him.

Ben let out a low groan, his hand moving to wrap around Miranda's waist. He gently pulled her closer, his lips crashing against hers in a passionate kiss. Miranda could feel his desire through the fabric of his pants, and she couldn't wait to get him out of them.

She unbuttoned his pants and slipped her hand inside, her fingers eagerly exploring his length. Ben let out a moan, his hands roaming over Miranda's body. She could feel his building excitement, and she couldn't resist taking him in her mouth.

With skilled movements, she pleasured him until he was on the edge of release. Just before he could come, she stopped, leaving him breathless and wanting more. She looked up at him with a seductive grin and whispered, "Gotta go."

The sounds of sirens got louder and her men yelled as she ran off to hop in her car and drive off. Ben stood there and quickly buttoned his pants and got himself together. He ran back out to join the rest of his squad

"They got away" An officer yelled

"Warren did you see the leader around" His sergeant asked

"No, I did not" He shook his head

"How are they always a step ahead of us" Another officer asked

Ben felt shame in what he was doing but he found a new loyalty to Miranda and had to help her.

At the warehouse, it was starting to show that she had feelings for Ben and her loyalty came into question.

"Where were you when the cops showed up" A worker asked

"Saving our asses" She snapped "Who are you to be questioning me"

"Yeah, you were probably out with that Officer you have been sniffing around. You sleeping with him so he'll do you a solid. Let the rest of us get caught and you get off scot-free" He snapped

This time when she grew her weapon she did not hesitate to use it. The man dropped dead at her feet. " Let this be a lesson" She yelled to everyone else " When you're good to me. I'm good to you. What benefits me. Benefits you. Forget the order of things around here and well." She stepped over his body " Clean that up"

Meanwhile, the police department had started to suspect Ben of being involved with Miranda. His actions and decisions were being questioned, and his superiors were keeping a watchful eye on him.

One day, Miranda found herself in a life-threatening situation. She was caught but not by Ben. By another officer in his squad. Her men had already made their getaway but she was looking for Ben and let her guard down briefly. Hearing feet quickly approaching she waited gun in hand.

"I got her" He yelled out, gun drawn aimed directly at her. " Lower your weapon" He ordered

"Guess this is the end of the road huh" She chuckled

"Don't make this hard" The officer tried to reason with her

Ben ran over and stared at her. His eyes silently pleaded that she put her gun down and surrender. At that moment, he realized that he couldn't let her go. He loved her too much and couldn't imagine a life without her.

With Miranda's life in danger, Ben had to make a decision. " Put it down" He calmly stated

"I'm sorry" She stared at Ben " I can't"

"Miranda please" He begged

"Ben, we both knew this was never going to end well" She looked at the gun in her hand

"Don't do it" The officer yelled

"I did it. I did everything. There's my confession" She raised her gun at the officers. Instinctively the cop shot at her with Ben yelling and trying to stop him even jumping in front of the gun.

She hit the ground and Ben ran over to her. Ben's heart stopped as he saw blood staining Miranda's shirt and her gasping for air. He held her tightly in his arms, tears streaming down his face as he whispered to her "Don't die"

Miranda's breathing became more labored and she struggled to speak. "I love you, Ben," she managed to say before taking her last breath."Miranda" He held her in his arms "Miranda" He shook her

"Warren" His Captain approached him

"You killed her" He cried

"Warren you have been shot"

"I don't care" He cried as he held Miranda

"Ben let her go" The captain commanded him. When Ben didn't let go he had to be dragged away kicking and yelling. Before being placed in an ambulance he took one last look at Miranda before they placed her in a body bag. The doors closed and he sighed having to grapple with the consequences of a complicated and ultimately heartbreaking romance.
