Hinata

"Watch it," growled a boy as his shoulder bumped into mine, causing me to trip onto the floor. My books scattered across the hallways, the students mindlessly stepping on them.

I looked up timidly, giving him a soft bow. "I-I'm sorry." I apologized, reaching out to grab the books that have fallen from my grip.

"You better be." He hissed before disappearing into the crowd.

I didn't get a good look at his face, but I knew from the sound of his voice that he was one of those kids you hear from everyday. I've heard it before. Their loud laughter echoing through the cafeteria, the things they mutter when the teacher gives out homework, the way they talk back to the teacher, only ending them up in detention, or the way everyone looks up at them.

Yeah, he's one of those popular kids.

Yet, his voice had a distinctive sound to it. Maybe it's because it's a bit higher than the average teenage boy's voice.

Kind of familiar. I just can't put my finger on it.

I let out a sigh, shaking the thought out of my head as I reach my locker, placing my books inside.

Ding!

My hands reach for my pockets, grasping onto my phone before opening it to see a new message from my father.

Otōsan:

Sorry, but I will be working a little later than usual. I cannot pick you up for a couple hours. Perhaps you could stay at the school 'til then?

"Looks like I'll be staying for awhile." I muttered under my breath. I send him a quick reply, saying that I got the message and understand, before slipping my phone back into my pocket.

I took the shortest way to the school library, thinking that reading would be the best way to consume time. As I reached the door, I peeked inside only to see that no one was there. I let out a sigh of relief, finding my usual spot in the corner behind a long shelf of books.

After about an hour of reading, the lights suddenly shut off. I gave a squeak as I felt as if someone ran across to the door. I heard a loud bang, and then two, then three. There was a low grunt, until the noise stopped altogether.

I'm not alone. I was never alone.

I quickly, but quietly, stepped away from my little spot, and slowly walked towards the door, trying to create as little sound as possible.

To my surprise, no one was there.

Was I hearing things?

"Hello?" I whispered in a timid voice, as if I was in one of those horror movies before the murderer pops up behind them.

Taking a small step forward, I decided to speak again. A little louder this time. "He-" Before I could finish, I shrieked in surprise as I felt a hand get placed on my shoulder. I whipped around, only for my eyes to meet blue ones.

"You're that girl." Was the first thing he said.

My eyes widened as I quickly recognized who he was.

He had spiky yellow-blonde hair, striking blue eyes, and those definable whisker marks on his cheeks, as if he were one of those mainstream girls wearing a cat costume on Halloween.

"N-Naruto...-kun," I murmured under my breath. He gave me a confused look, then shrugged it off, his face turning from confused to nervous.

"I think we're...um, trapped inside the school library." He gave a sheepish grin, rubbing the back of his neck.

All I could do was give a hopeless nod, not meeting his eyes.

So he was the one who bumped into me.

Why is it that I always feel nervous around him? He never seems to notice, nor does he even seem to care. He's always after a certain girl with pink hair. That girl, well, she's kind of my friend. She's very aware of his crush on her, and she chooses to ignore it, since she has the hots for his best friend Sasuke. Who also, sadly, seems to ignore her.

"Hinako-" Naruto started.

"Hinata." I corrected him, giving him a glare for not even knowing my name correctly.

He lifted his hands up in surrender. "Ha ha, sorry. I knew it was something like that... Hinata, I think we should try and find a way out. Don't you?"

I nodded, bringing my phone out to see that it was now past four o' clock. Frowning, I placed my phone back into my pocket.

"I-Is there even a way out? I m-mean, the only exit is the door, and that's locked." I stated matter-of-factly.

"You must not talk to many people, you stutter quite a lot." He said, eyeing me up and down. He leaned closer to my ear, lowering his voice. "Maybe I can change that."

A shiver glided up my back as I gulped, feeling the heat rise to my face.

What does he mean by that? What does he have in mind?

I shook my head, releasing the thoughts from my mind.

He smirked, a chuckle escaping his lips. "You're cute, Hinata."

My blush increased. "W-Wha-?"

The next thing that I knew is that he bursted out in laughter, his hands holding his stomach as he gave a fox like howl. "Ha ha, man... I love seeing the look on your face. You're just too fun to mess with." He said in between laughs, wiping a tear from his eye.

An unladylike noise escaped my mouth as I thought of ways to kill this dude.

"Alright, alright." He grinned, placing his arm around my shoulders. "How about we find a way out of this prison, yeah?"

I rolled my eyes, muttering a "Isn't that what we were supposed to do to begin with?"

"What was that?"

"N-Nothing!" I said a little too quickly, bringing a sheepish smile to my face.

Giving me an uncertain look, he pulled out his phone, and began to scroll through his contacts.

"What're you doing?" I asked, peaking over his shoulder to get a look at his phone.

He turned around, showing me his phone. "I have the janitor's number. I'm sure he'll be nice enough to let us out."

What kind of person has the janitor's number?

"Uh... O-Okay, yeah."

He smiled at me, and I couldn't help but smile back. He's got one of those contagious smiles that just fills your body with the warmth of the sun on a spring breeze.

Naruto put the phone up to his ear, waiting for the janitor to pick up. When he didn't, he called again, and then a third time, before he decided to just give up. "Ugh," he groaned aloud. "He didn't answer."

"I...can see that." I stated, giving him an amused look. "Why do you even have the janitor's number?" I finally decided to ask, tilting my head to the side slightly like a confused puppy.

He coughed, glancing anywhere but my eyes. "Well, you see..." He began scratching the back of his head in embarrassment. "I always get stuck inside the library, and would call him to unlock the door for me. He's quite fond of me actually."

My mouth slowly hung open, as my eyes stared into his own blue ones in total shock.

Who knew he would stay at the library a lot after school?

"You like to read?" I asked, excitement rising in my voice as I waited for his answer. He stared at me, a slight blush appearing before his cheeks. He didn't answer for a long time, but finally sighed, giving in.

"Uh... Yeah, I do." He said the last part quietly, a cute embarrassed face taking over his features.

A smile curled at the corner of my lips as I stared at him in total admiration. Never have I ever thought that this boy, the boy standing before me, would like to read. He just doesn't seem like the type. I guess that's where the saying 'don't judge a book by its cover' comes from.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" He asked, breaking me from my thoughts.

"Huh? Oh! H-heh, w-well...its just that I've never thought you'd be the one to read. It surprised me." I smiled at him. "It's n-nice knowing someone else also likes to read."

He blinked, staring at me for a few moments before breaking his gaze. "Well, since the janitor won't answer, I guess we'll just have to find another way out."

I furrowed my eyebrows. "A-Are you changing the subject?"

"No?"

"Yes you are!"

"N... No I'm not!"

"You j-just did!"

"Whatever..." He glanced at the door.

Grunting, I crossed my arms over my chest. "You're so childish."

He paused. "...Shut up."

I smirked, knowing that I've won.

He turned away from me, and I watched his eyes as they scanned the library, looking for an escape. "Hey," he murmured. "How about the vent? They work in movies don't they?"

My eyes widened. "A v-vent? Those never work in movies!" I exclaimed.

"Do you have a better idea?" His eyebrows arched upward, challenging me.

I sighed in defeat. "N...No..."

He smirked, leaning closer to my face, pointing his finger at my nose in a teasing manner. "That's what I thought."

I smacked his finger away, giving him a scolding look.

"Fine," he groaned, making his way toward the vent, me following shortly behind. He gave a long look at it, before crouching down, lifting the cover off and tossing it out of the way.

I quickly grabbed his shoulder, causing his attention to quickly fall on me. I blushed, but soon realized why I grabbed his shoulder in the first place, and I quickly released it. "S-Sorry, Naruto-kun. B-But, are you sure we can fit through that vent?" I asked while pointing at the very thing I was referring to.

"Huh? Oh, yeah. That? Of course we'll fit! In fact, we'll escape through that vent. Believe it!" He gave a cheeky grin and wink, making me laugh at his silliness.

"Whatever you say~" I finally gave in.

Naruto smiled at me, before crouching down onto all fours. He made his way into the vent, slowly, might I add. I followed him suit, making sure to keep a good distance between us.

Not that I don't want to be close to him. It's just...you know, the possibility of me fainting.

We continued crawling through the enclosed metal box, until I heard a loud grunt coming from ahead of me. My face laced with worry as I quickened my pace to wherever Naruto was.

"W-What happened? A-Are you alright?" I asked, before stopping once I saw him. Naruto had the most worried expression I had ever seen, even more than when he found out we were locked in the library.

"Naruto-kun?"

He turned to face me, his hands pressed up against a dead end.

A dead end.

"I think we should have just waited..." His head sagged down as his expression turned from worry to sadness and disappointment.

I frowned at the sight before me. "Naru-"

"You were right! I should have listened to you Hinata!" He looked at me, his eyes lost all his pride in them. "Everything I do, everything I say, always ends up another way!"

He wasn't aware that he practically rimed.

"D-Don't say that!" I snapped, clenching my hands into fists as they press into the metal floor beneath me. He flinches a little, his eyes widening. "Naruto-kun, you j-just don't know how m-much your pride makes everyone around you feel. C-Can't you see the smiles on everyone's faces when you smile, that big, cheeky smile of yours?"

He shakes his head, a shaky breath escaping his lips. "No one does that Hinata, no one feels happy around me. Everyone hates me, can't you tell?!" He shouts, and I jump back a little, spooked by his outburst.

He just doesn't know how wrong he is. Sure, people may think he's stupid, and that he's just a prankster, or a bad boy. But his smile always brings a smile to everyone's faces.

Tears threaten to fall, but I hold them back. Naruto looks at me, his eyes softening, but he clenches his fists, turning his head away from me.

I clench my teeth. I just can't stand the sight of him giving up on himself. Turning around, I crawl to the opposite direction.

Strong arms wrap around my waist, stopping me from going any further. I let out a squeak, feeling the warm breath against my neck.

"Don't leave." He murmured, his voice breaking.

I closed my eyes, not letting the tears fall.

I must be strong in front of him.

For him.

His warm body heat quickly made me forget about the cool air flowing through the vent, as I savored the moment. The moment I've always dreamed of living in.

"I won't." Was the last thing I said before a loud creaking noise erased my thoughts and the world seemed to go in slow motion.

First chapter posted! Omg I'm so excited for this! I've always wanted to write a fan fiction for NaruHina, since I'm very obsessed with them. I really hope everyone will enjoy this story along the way.

Yes, this story will not move too fast. I hate when the two main characters of a story end up kissing in like the second chapter or something. Slow pasted stories keep the readers going, am I right?

Please comment if you'll like for me to continue! Love you all!
