Jay:
Rey was in the kitchen making breakfast for herself, Jay, Steve, Clint and Natasha. Tony had a meeting to go to. Bruce was in the lab saying that he would eat at lunch. As for Thor, he had returned to Asgard or 'Ass Gaurd' as Rey called it. Tony told Rey that he would be bringing someone home for her and Jay to meet.
Rey was curious to know who it was because Tony had been talking a lot about him. He said that he was just like Rey and that they would get along very well. Jay was starting to feel protective of Rey, whether he admitted to himself or not, the Avengers knew that he saw Rey as a little sister. He was looking forward to meeting the guy.
Rey knew that Tony was bringing him over so that she would have a friend other than Jay and Gwen but she felt that she should make friends on her own. She was actually considering Chaz's suggestions for school. She had been shuffling between Brooklyn Technical High School, Midtown School of Science and Technology and The Bronx High School of Science.
Since Gwen went to Midtown High Rey was prioritizing it. It would be better to go to a school where she at least knew someone. She also wanted to ask her how the teachers and other students were. She knew that she would feel out of place but she could at least try to blend in. She had decided that if she did join a school then it would be under a different name she knew that Steve would not like it but Natasha could convince him.
Rey flipped the pancake as her phone started ringing, she dug into her hoodie pocket and saw 'G - Bitch' written above the phone number. It was how Rey called Gwen, with the first letters of her name. "I gotta take this. BRB." Rey told Jay and Clint who sat on the kitchen island eating pancakes. "Uncle Clint, can you see to the pancakes?"
With that Rey left the kitchen and went to top floor of the penthouse drawing room. She picked up the call but before she could say anything Gwen's voice came from the other end "Wassup, babe. I got your text." Gwen said.
"Yeah, I wanna talk to you about something, G." Rey said in a slightly anxious tone.
"Sure thing. When and where?"
"When'll you get out of school?"
"3:30 and have band practice till 5:30."
"Okay. 6:00, Starbucks NYU."
"Okay see you there." Gwen said, Rey could hear someone speaking in the background "Yeah, I'm coming." Gwen said. "I'll see you there, Rey. Bu-bye. I've got class."
"Yeah, see ya, G." Rey said before Gwen hung up. Rey sighed before she went back in she saw Clint making pancakes while her fathers sat at the island with Jay and another guy Rey did not know, she assumed that he was the kid Tony kept singing praises about. "Papa, Dad. I'm gonna go see Gwen in at six." Rey walked to the elevator "Dr. Mind Reader (Dr. Chaz) is gonna be coming today, tell me when she here. I'll be in my lab."
"Rey, wait." Tony called Rey closed her eyes letting out an annoyed huff before she turned to him unwillingly knowing what he wanted. She looked up at the guy sitting between her fathers, Harry Osborn.
He had long raven locks, silverish-grey eyes and a warm smile that he gave Rey. He wore a tuxedo as he had come over from a conference. Rey saw confidence in his stature, he seemed a bit egoist. But Rey of course was used to that with the Tony Stark as her father.
"Yeah?" she asked in an annoyed tone.
"This is Harry-"
"Harry Osborn. I know who he is." Rey said rather raspily. She received a slight glare from her fathers before Steve spoke.
"We were hoping you would show him around your lab." he said with a small smile.
"Fine, whatever." Rey said turning back to the elevator. "Let's go, Osborn." she said pushing the button of the elevator. Harry hopped off the island high chair was rushed to Rey not wanting to annoy her further. "Jay, get your lazy ass over here."
Jay rolled his eyes as he gobbled up his pancakes and rushed to the elevator as it arrived. "Don't say anything about my ass." Jay said accusingly "It's gorgeous." he said Rey smirked chuckling.
"Sure it is." Rey said sarcastically "I'll eat later!" Rey called as she entered the elevator with Jay and Harry following him. "J.A.R.V.I.S., take us to A.D.O.R.B.s levle."
"A.D.O.R.B.s?" Harry asked.
"A Duo Of Rookie Birds." Rey stated as the elevator came to a stop.
"Hummingbird and Sparrow?" Harry asked.
"What do you think, Potter?" Rey asked.
"I think-" Harry started.
"It was a rhetorical question, dude." Rey said she smirked and went into the lab.
"Is she always like that?" Harry asked Jay as Rey walked away.
"Sassy?" Jay asked in an amused tone. "You'll get used to it." Jay said patting Harry's shoulder. "You wanna get to know her you gotta take it slow. She has trust issues."
"Trust issues? What? It comes with the profession?" Harry jested.
"Rey is..." Jay struggled to find the words. "Let's just say Rey's the kinda person who'd kill you if she hates you, but would kill and die for you if she doesn't ." Jay said walking back to the elevator "Oh, with no hesitation by the way." he said pointing at Harry.
Harry smiled at Jay's definition of Rey. Smarts, Sass and Style. The three S's Harry looked for in friends were the three qualities he had too. Harry smiled when he saw Rey standing at the table filled with test tubes, beakers and chemical glass pipes. Rey had taken off her hoodie and tied it to her waist Harry smirked at the statement written on Rey's t-shirt. It said a lot about her personality.
"Nice tee." Harry said. Rey glanced up at him before going back to her work.
"V, bring up a hologram of H.O.W.S (Healing Of Wounds Serum) 26." Rey said the hologram popped up and Rey observed the elements and chemicals that were listed along with a few animal names. The tip of her tongue poked from between her lips. It was a habit she had when she was focused on something.
"What are you making?" Harry asked.
"A healing serum." Rey stated "So far I can only heal small wounds. Big injuries like bullet wounds heal, but they split after a while."
"You can use spider DNA." Harry suggested.
"One of my friends suggested that too." Rey said as brought up spider species.
"Uh... may I?" Harry asked. Rey looked at him and saw him indicating to the hologram. Rey gave him a nod, she would not mind a little help. Harry tapped on two names and holographic spiders appeared. The hologram of the spiders rotated giving a 360-degree view.
"The golden silk orb-weaver and the garden cross spiders." Rey read she smiled before thinking over it. "It might actually work." She grinned "V, keyboard." a holographic keyboard appeared under Rey's fingers and she typed in a formula. She pursed her lips before pressing 'Enter' and V.E.R.O.N.I.C.A. started running the test. As it loaded Rey tapped her foot biting her lower lip. "C'mon, c'mon, c'mon."
The result showed up and Rey grinned, the results were 92.3% positive. "Fuck." She gasped running her hand through her hair "I worked. It's so close." she cheered. Harry smiled at her "How'd you know that'd work?" Rey asked him.
"We altered spiders to develop something similar." Harry said before looking down "For my father."
"I read about him." Rey said "I'm sorry."
Harry scoffed "Don't be. He was a great dad." he said. Rey could clearly hear the sarcastic tone in his voice.
Rey pursed her lips "Papa told me. After your mom died your dad shipped you off to boarding school, you were only six." Rey said empathetically. Harry looked down "I read online that when he got you back was so that you could take the Osborn legacy forward because he was diagnosed with canc-"
"It was not cancer, everyone says it was but — it wasn't " Harry said. "It was a family illness. No one believes it. Everyone thinks we're crazy."
"We like crazy." Jay said. The two turned to him and saw him holding a bowl of pancakes, yes, a bowl of pancakes. It was how Rey ate her pancakes. Small coin pancake in a bowl with a little milk, maple syrup and a whole bunch of whipped cream, blueberries and chocolate chips. Everyone thought that it was gross but they did not try it before.
(AN/: BTW, that's how I eat my pancakes, and it tastes delish.😋)
"We're all crazy. Besides, no one can get it better than me." Rey said as she took the bowl from Jay and put a spoonful in her mouth. "My life's been fucked."
Harry glanced between Rey and Jay giving them a weird look before he continued "Science didn't help him but it saved me."
"You mean?" Rey asked.
"Yeah. I was cured."
"How?" Jay asked.
"With a serum, it kills diseased cells." Harry stated as he pulled himself up on a desk.
"So you can never get sick?" Jay asked. Harry shrugged "Bro, that is so cool." Harry smiled at Jay's statement.
"So that's how you knew about the spiders." Rey said.
"Yeah. You know you should swing by the Oscorp tower." Harry said as he picked up one of Tony's Iron Man gauntlets and fiddled with it.
"Oscorp tower. One of my friends interns there." Rey said as she snatched the gauntlet from Harry's hand.
"What's their name?" Harry asked.
"Gwen Stacy." Rey said. Harry's eyes widened.
"Gwen Stacy. Captain Stacy's daughter?" he asked.
"Uh... Yeah." Rey said.
"How do you know her?" he asked
"She's Falcon's goddaughter."
"So, you know she's Ghost-Spider."
"Yeah. Wait you know too? How do you know her?"
"I've known her since kindergarten."
"She never told me she knew you."
"She never told me she knew you!"
Rey and Harry stopped when they heard a crunching noise when they turned to the source they saw Jay staring at them eating popcorn. "Sorry, I was just-"
"-enjoying the show?" Rey stated.
"Your words, not mine." Jay defended before popping another popcorn in his mouth.
