Unveiling Secrets

Devyani's pov -

Days turned into weeks, and my life in the grand mansion of the Rajvansh family started settling into a routine.

As I navigated through my responsibilities as a daughter-in-law, I couldn't help but feel a growing sense of loneliness. Dev remained distant, consumed by his work and elusive thoughts.

As the day progressed, I found myself exploring the intricacies of the Rajvansh mansion.

The sprawling estate held both elegance and mystery. Each room whispered secrets of the family's past, and I couldn't help but be intrigued.

Devendra's enigmatic personality lingered in the air, making me more determined to unravel the layers he kept hidden. The house was filled with the echoes of footsteps, laughter, and untold stories.

My journey as a daughter-in-law was turning into a quest for understanding, not just of the family but also of the man I had chosen to be my partner.

In the evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the mansion, I found myself standing in front of a door adorned with intricate carvings.

It seemed to be untouched, a realm of secrets waiting to be revealed.

Taking a deep breath, I opened the door, revealing a room. It was Devendra's personal space – his study.

The room spoke volumes about his preferences, his passions, and the things that mattered to him.

This room is at the first floor. Dev's office and our bedroom is at the third floor.

He stays most of the time in his office room, so I never got the chance to see his study room.

I don't go into his office room also because he does not like when someone's invades in his personal space, this is what exactly I am doing right now.

I entered in the room. The shelves were lined with books, each one carefully chosen and well-read.

The desk bore the marks of countless hours of work, and the walls adorned with framed achievements and accolades. It was a sanctuary that mirrored the complexities of the man himself.

I ran my fingers over the spines of the books, curious about the worlds they held within their pages.

As I delved deeper into his private space, I stumbled upon a worn-out diary tucked away in a drawer. Hesitating for a moment, I opened it.

There are some simple drawings on the pages, like doodles that a child might make. One of them is a sketch of a family with four people.

However, what caught my eye was another drawing on a different page. In this one, a boy is on his knees, holding a flower in front of a girl. There was also a poem written next to it.

"Dil mein chhupa hai pyaar ka izhaar, Par dard bhi hai, tanhaiyon ka izhaar.

Raat bhar rote hain, chhupake aansu, Mohabbat mein hai yeh dil is qadar beqaraar."

I closed the diary immediately after reading those lines and decided to leave his study room immediately.

Because some doors are never meant to be open or they are meant to be opened slowly, and I knew that requires earning his trust firstly.

"Did you enjoy snooping around, Biwi?" I heard a voice and the diary falls from my hand with a thud on the ground.

I turned back and found him leaning against the wall, his gaze fixed on me. The air seemed charged with unspoken words, and for a moment, it felt like time stood still.

His eyes moved towards the diary on the floor. "I wasn't snooping, I was exploring," I told him as I picked up the diary, trying to hide it in my small hands.

However, I knew he had seen it. He quickly approached me, grabbed the diary from my hand, and looked very angry.

He tightly held my left arm and pulled me towards him.

"How many times do I have to tell you that I don't like when someone invades my personal space? You don't seem to understand that in your small mind," he said angrily.

The grip on my left arm was so tight that it hurt. Tears immediately welled up in my eyes.

"Dev, leave my hand, it's hurting," I told him. But his grip on my arm only got tighter.

"Is it hurting? Such a small thing is causing you pain, and what about the pain I'm going through right now seeing you unfolding and reading the pages which I don't want to be read by anyone?"

"I've told you before to stay away from my life, but you just don't seem to get it," he said loudly and angrily.

I struggled to free my arm from Devendra's tight grip, the pain shooting through my veins. His anger was palpable, and I could feel the intensity of his emotions.

"Dev, please, you're hurting me," I pleaded, my voice quivering with a mix of fear and pain.

He released his grip, and I stumbled backward, rubbing my aching arm.

"I've made it clear, Devyani. My personal space is off-limits. You need to respect that," he said sternly, his eyes cold and distant.

I took a moment to compose myself, my gaze meeting his. "I didn't mean to invade your privacy. I was just curious, trying to understand you better," I explained, hoping he would see the sincerity in my eyes.

He sighed, his anger seemingly subsiding. "Curiosity can be dangerous, Biwi. Some things are better left untouched."

I nodded, understanding the gravity of his words. The tension between us lingered, the unspoken words hanging in the air like a thick fog.

He returned the diary to its place, his expression unreadable.

"Stay out of my study and my personal belongings. I won't tolerate any interference in that part of my life."

As he walked away, leaving me standing in the study, I couldn't shake off the feeling of being shut out.

The diary, the drawings, the poem—all hinted at a side of Devendra that he preferred to keep hidden. But why? What was he hiding, and why was he so guarded about it?
